  • Patent number: 5697654
Abstract: A security door assembly or locking mechanism for securing a single door in locking engagement with an adjacent door jamb structure comprises a first elongate metal blade to be received by a matching elongate groove in a vertical edge of a door. A second elongate metal blade is received by a matching groove in an upper horizontal edge of the door. Mechanical devices are provided for moving said blades partially from the grooves in the door into engagement with receiving grooves in the adjacent door jamb structure to lock the door. The vertical and horizontal blades are coupled together by a linkage mechanism which enables both blades to be operated simultaneously upon actuation of a single lever or knob. The blades and the linkage mechanism are mounted in an L-shaped housing inserted into grooves formed in adjacent edges of the door. Elongate metal strips are provided to be mounted over the grooves in the door jamb.

Abstract: There is a lock for a door or the like which comprises a tongue pivotable on an axis between a locking position where it engages a striker and an unlocked position where it is clear of the striker. A pawl is pivotable on a second axis between a first position where one end abuts said tongue to hold it in said locking position and a second position where said one end is clear of the tongue. There is a set of toggles hingedly connected end to end between another opposite end of the pawl and another axis. The interconnected ends of the toggles are connected to a solenoid plunger by a link. Abstract: The dumpster dual locking assembly includes a housing having two side walls each having an opening. Extending through the openings is a rotatable sleeve which has at one end a flange with a hole for receiving the barrel of a padlock. A rotation bar, which also has at one end a flange with a hole for receiving the barrel of a padlock, extends through and is rotatable relative to the sleeve. A locking bar for securing the hinged lid of a dumpster is coupled to the rotation bar. Both the sleeve and the rotation bar can be manually locked together by placing a lock through their flanges. When the dumpster is upright, a gravitational lock prevents the sleeve from rotating in the housing. The gravitational lock includes a support fixed to the sleeve, a pendulum supported at one end by and rotatable relative to the support, and a latch. The latch locks into a catch mounted on the interior surface of the housing when the dumpster is upright.

  • Patent number: 5664813
Abstract: The present invention provides a lever latch for securing a door panel of a cabinet or the like in a closed position relative to the frame. The lever latch is installed within an aperture formed in the door, and releasably retains the door against the frame when the door and the frame are latched together. The lever latch includes a housing for mounting in the door, a handle assembly which is pivotally attached to the housing, and rotatable between an opened and closed position, and a fastening means. The fastening means retains the door, when the door is closed against the frame, by engaging the frame as the handle assembly is rotated to the closed position. • Patent number: 5655801
Abstract: A gate latch has a handle with a cojoined adjustably sized elongated rigid metal rod, which rod is rotatably disposed in sleeves frictionally retained within a drilled hole in a fixed post of a fence. The rod is formed with a plurality of spaced parallel threaded through holes. The handle has a transverse hole and is mounted to the rod by a bolt passing through the handle hole and one of the rod holes disposed at the end of the rod on the outside of the post. The rod is operably connected to a spring return locking plate for locking a gate rod which gate rod is fixedly mounted to an openable gate. The user first drills the post hole to receive the elongated rod slidably disposed in the sleeves, and then cuts the elongated rod to a length to accommodate the thickness of the post, and then attaches the handle at the hole adjacent the cut end of the elongated rod. The user in operating the gate latch rotates the handle downwardly which in turn rotates the elongated rod in the post hole.

Abstract: The invention relates to a table system in which at least two adjacent table elements can be releasably connected via their opposing table top edges with the aid of at least one mechanical connecting arrangement. Of the essentially two-part connecting arrangement a first main part contains a retaining lever which is built into the table top edge region of one table element and can be pivoted outwards, whilst the second main part of the connecting arrangement, built into the table top edge region of the adjacent table element, is constructed so as to receive the retaining lever form-lockingly and contains a securing element for the locking engagement between the first and second main parts. The assembly and disconnection of the individual table elements can be carried out quickly and reliably without additional aids.

Abstract: A lockable buckle includes a body member, a latch member, and a rotary locking member. The body member includes a pair of locking side slots. The latch member includes a pair of resilient arms having raised tab portions thereon for releasably engaging the opposed locking side slots of the body member. The rotary locking member is disposed in the body member and is adapted for rotation therein between a first position and a second position. In the first position, the raised tab portions are permitted to bend inwardly so as to allow insertion or removal of the latch member from the body member. In the second position, the raised tab portions are prevented from bending inwardly, thereby inhibiting disengagement of the latching member from the body member.

Abstract: A catch device is described of the type in which a fork element is thrust by a striker pin during closure of the door of a vehicle to rotate to come into snap engagement with a catch element operable to lock it in a closure position; its principal characteristic lies in the fact that it is provided with a supplementary spring pivotally attached eccentrically at one end to the fork element and at the other end to an attachment point fixed with respect to this latter, in such a way that the initial rotation of the fork element causes an eccentric elastic reaction of the spring which forces the fork element to complete its rotation with a reduced door-closing movement so as to reduce the door closure force.

  • Patent number: 4801163
Abstract: An electrically operated exit device comprises a low powered dogging assembly for a pushbar and an electrical actuator for a latch bolt. A latching bracket is attached to the pushbar for movement inwardly and outwardly along a path. A dogging plate of the dogging element is pivotally moveable between a retracted position out of the path of the latching element and an extended position in the path of the latching element. The dogging plate is spring biased toward the extended position and has a protruding shoulder. When the dogging plate is extended and the pushbar moved inward manually, the latching bracket strikes the dogging plate, retracts it slightly against the force of the spring bias and then continues slightly beyond the shoulder of the dogging plate. Then, the doggin plate again extends fully under the influence of the spring bias such that a bearing surface on the far side of the shoulder catches the latching bracket and thereby dogs the pushbar.

A lock bolt detent is pivotally mounted to the slide member for maintaining the lock bolt in a secure position when the door is closed. Actuation of movement of the slide member results in movement of the lock bolt detent away from the lock bolt followed by pivotal motion of the lock bolt as a pin on the slide member engages the lock bolt and lifts clear of the door keeper. The door is sprung open by a spring loaded plunger which extends out of the lock frame.
