Abstract: A data processing system composites graphics content, generated by an application program running on the data processing system, to generate image data. The data processing system stores the image data in a first framebuffer and displays an image generated from the image data in the first framebuffer on an internal display device of the data processing system. A scaler in the data processing system performs scaling operations on the image data in the first framebuffer, stores the scaled image data in a second framebuffer and displays an image generated from the scaled image data in the second framebuffer on an external display device coupled to the data processing system. The scaler performs the scaling operations asynchronously with respect to the compositing of the graphics content. The custom zooming application determines respective degrees of relevance of the plurality of objects based, at least in part, on the device, a user of the device, related context information, or a combination thereof. The custom zooming application determines to render one or more of the plurality of objects with at least one different level of visibility with respect to other ones of the plurality of objects based, at least in part, on the respective degrees of relevance, the level of zoom, or a combination thereof.

Abstract: A method for resizing image data from a first size image to a second size image is disclosed. In one operation of the method, a scale factor is determined based on a number of gaps between pixels in the first size image and a number of gaps between pixels in the second size image. In another operation, the scale factor is applied to the first size image to generate a representation of the second size image data. In yet another operation a remainder representing an offset from a last pixel of the first size image data and a last pixel from the representation of the second size image data is determined. With the offset determined, another operation offsets each end pixel of a line of the second size image data by a portion of the remainder.

Abstract: A system is provided for scaling image data comprising a Direct Memory Access (DMA) engine adapted to read the image data from a horizontal pixel strip in a column-by-column format, a scaling block adapted to scale the image data read by the read DMA engine into scaled column output data, and a buffer memory for storing the scaled column output data for the horizontal pixel strip. A method is also provided for scaling an image comprising reading pixel values from a pixel strip in a column-by-column manner across the pixel strip and scaling the pixel values for each column to produce scaled column output data. The scaled column output data for a plurality of columns is then read and the scaled column output data is scaled from the plurality of columns to produce scaled row output data for a row of pixels.
