Abstract: A method of routing traffic for multi-cast routing through a node of a network that utilizes loop-free alternative paths is presented. The method includes receiving a join in the node from a second node in the network on a shortest path between the node and the second node; retrieving loop-free alternative paths to the second node; and adding an entry to a multi-cast routing table at the node that is based on a group that includes the shortest path to the second node and the loop-free alternative paths to the second node as cost equivalent paths.

  • Patent number: 9565217
Abstract: The present invention discloses numerous implementations for IP-based call processing systems that can selectively control an outgoing call initiated by a source device to a destination device. The call processing system communicates with a Service Switching Point (SSP) associated with the source device and determines whether to effect control of the outgoing call. It could determine to effect control of the outgoing call for many reasons including to convey a media message to the source device, to implement a call feature or to manage call restrictions. Upon determining to effect control of the outgoing call, the call processing system causes the SSP to initiate a media connection between the source device and the call processing system. The call processing system can then utilize the media connection with the source device to perform functionality for the outgoing call prior to and/or during the outgoing call.

The second MED is higher than the first MED and higher than the MED advertised by the backup network device, causing peers to prefer the backup device. If the device is also configured for Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP), when the device advertises the first MED, virtual routers are transitioned to ‘master’ state, and when the device advertises the second MED, virtual routers are transitioned to ‘backup’ state.

Abstract: Methods and devices are disclosed for backhaul selection in a wireless communication network. A first radio base station has access to a first backhaul path through an out-of-band interface and to a second backhaul path, via a second radio base station, through an in-band interface. According to a method, a network entity sends, to the second radio base station, a request for available capacity on the second backhaul path for backhauling of the first radio base station. The second radio base station derives a total available capacity from an estimate of available capacity for backhauling on a backhaul path from the second radio base station to a core network and from an estimate of available capacity for backhauling on the in-band interface and signals the total available capacity to the network entity. The network entity selects backhaul path based on the received information on the total available capacity.

Abstract: A communication apparatus (receiving apparatus) configured to receive a communication parameter selects, when an access point itself is active as a providing apparatus or the communication apparatus detects an access point (active access point) that is communicatable with an active providing apparatus, the access point as the access point to be connected using wireless connection. If the communication apparatus does not detect an active access point, the communication apparatus selects an access point (setup-completed access point) which is configured with a communication parameter that is different from the one that is set at the time of initialization, as the access point to be connected using wireless connection.

  • Patent number: 9065743
Abstract: The disclosed technology, in one embodiment, involves a method that improves the execution speed of graph algorithms that are commonly used by network service providers for network analysis and/or design. The disclosed technology can be used to provide significant efficiency improvements when applied to networks that are separated into several isolated fragments (“fragmented networks”) due to severe damage that may be caused by either natural disaster (such as hurricanes or earthquakes), or planned adversary attacks. In one embodiment of the disclosed technology, a graph algorithm, that is used to determine a characteristic of the network, is not applied directly to the whole network/graph. Instead, the graph algorithm is applied to isolated network/graph fragments that are identified, for example, by using a fragment discovery algorithm. The graph algorithm is then applied to one or more relevant fragments. The results may be combined to obtain a network wide result.

Abstract: Systems and methods which provide mount catalogs to facilitate rapid volume mount are shown. A mount catalog of embodiments may be provided for each aggregate containing volumes to be mounted by a takeover node of a storage system. The mount catalog may comprise a direct storage level, such as a DBN level, based mount catalog. Such mount catalogs may be maintained in a reserved portion of the storage devices containing a corresponding aggregate and volumes, wherein the storage device reserved portion is known to a takeover node. In operation according to embodiments, a HA pair takeover node uses a mount catalog to access the blocks used to mount volumes of a HA pair partner node prior to a final determination that the partner node is in fact a failed node and prior to onlining the aggregate containing the volumes.

Abstract: An example embodiment includes a network element. The network element includes an ingress port, an ingress line card, a link aggregation group (LAG) including multiple egress ports, and a distributor. The ingress port receives multiple packets including flood traffic. The ingress line card separates the packets into buckets. The distributor is configured to allocate the buckets to the egress ports, transmit the buckets to the egress ports, and when a failed egress port is identified, reallocate the buckets from the failed egress port to at least one functional egress port while continuing to transmit the buckets to functional egress ports of the LAG.

Abstract: In mobile user equipment (UE) configured to allow for operation on multiple wireless communication networks, such as on a TD-SCDMA network or on a TDD-LTE network, an improved method for handing over a circuit-switched call is offered. The proposed circuit-witched fallback procedure, employing an improved UE hardware architecture, allows for certain connection setup procedures to occur in parallel, such as the UE pre-acquiring the TD-SCDMA cell. The parallel operations thus speed up the circuit-switched fallback procedure and reduce existing delays in executing circuit-switched fallback from TDD-LTE to TD-SCDMA networks.

For instance, an access terminal may receive a transmission including a list of neighboring cells to be monitored while connected to a particular serving cell. The access terminal may determine that a predefined number of consecutive acquisition attempts with a particular neighboring cell have failed. In response to failure of the predefined number of consecutive acquisition attempts, the access terminal can blacklist the neighboring cell from subsequent acquisition attempts for a predefined blacklisting period. Following the duration of the blacklisting period, the access terminal may conduct a subsequent acquisition attempt with the neighboring cell.
