Abstract: A method for restoring connectivity between a node in an IP Multimedia Subsystem, IMS, network, and a User Equipment, UE. The UE is associated with a Proxy Call Session Control Function node, P-CSCF, of said IMS network, and with at least one control node of a packet access network, through which the UE connects to the IMS network. The method allows for restoring the connectivity of the UE to an IMS network node after said IMS node has failed to establish a communication to said UE via said P-CSCF node.

These operations include configuring a first network device to provide network access to a client device using a first Basic Service Set Identification (BSSID) and determining that the first network device is not responsive. Based on determining that the first network device is not responsive, the one or more hardware processors further configure a second network device to provide the network access to the client device using the same first BSSID that was previously used by the first network device without the client device disassociating with the first BSSID.

Abstract: The invention relates to routing messages over a network of interconnected devices of a networked control system, particularly to routing messages for individually controlling devices of a networked control system such as light sources of a lighting system. A basic idea of the invention is to determine a routing path for a message from a sender device to a destination device through the grid of interconnected devices of a networked control system, and to change the routing path, when a faulty device is contained in the routing path, in order to route the message around the faulty device, instead of determining an entirly new routing path. Thus, an efficient routing of a message over a network of interconnected device may be provided.

Abstract: A device determines a communication failure associated with a first network, and selects, based on the communication failure, a failover device from a list of failover devices. The device and the failover devices communicate via short-range communications, and the selected failover device connects to a second network. The device provides, to the selected failover device, a request to receive a service from the first network, and determines whether the selected failover device accepts the request. When the selected failover device accepts the request, the device establishes a communication channel with the selected failover device, and receives the service from the first network via the selected failover device, the communication channel, and the second network.

In some embodiments, the controllers manage physical forwarding elements that forward data between several computing devices (also called hosts or host computers), some or all of which execute one or more virtual machines (VMs). The method of some embodiments distributes a controller assignment list to the host computers. The host computers use this list to identify the controllers with which they need to interact to perform some of the forwarding operations of their associated logical forwarding elements. In some embodiments, agents executing on the host computers (1) review the controller assignment list to identify the appropriate controllers, and (2) establish control channel communications with these controllers to obtain the needed data for effectuating the forwarding operations of their associated physical forwarding elements.

Abstract: Link identifiers such as VIDs, selected from a defined range of values, are locally assigned by each node on a link state protocol controlled Ethernet network to each of its links or adjacencies. The link identifiers are assigned by the nodes such that each link or adjacency at the node is uniquely identified by a different link identifier. The link identifiers are added by the nodes to their topology databases to enable detour routes to be locally calculated by the nodes on the network in a distributed manner. To apps executing on the APE, the port reservation sockets appear as port numbers associated with other apps executing on the APE. Moreover, each surrogate may optimize the hierarchy according to one or more optimization criteria. For example, each surrogate in the hierarchy may have the necessary information to ensure that if the next surrogate in the hierarchy is unavailable, the data may be routed to a backup surrogate. The selected hierarchy may be further optimized by skipping surrogates (or a surrogate level) such that the data intended for a skipped surrogate is sent to a surrogate in a lower-level of the hierarchy. This may better utilize the connection interfaces in the transmitting sub-switches and eliminate any unnecessary surrogate-to-surrogate transfers.

Abstract: Techniques are described for separating control plane functions in a network device using virtual machines. The techniques include initializing multiple virtual machine instances in a control unit of a standalone router, and running different control processes for the router in each of the virtual machines. For example, in a root system domain (RSD)-protected system domain (PSD) system, a control unit of the standalone router may support a RSD virtual machine (VM) and one or more PSD VMs configured to form logical devices and execute logically separate control processes without requiring physically separate, hardware-independent routing engines to form the PSDs. Each of the RSD VM and PSD VMs includes a separate kernel, an operating system, and control processes for the logical device. When a software failure occurs in the PSD VM, the PSD VM may perform a software failover without affecting the operation of the RSD VM.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for reliable wireless voice, data and location communication for deployment in underground, industrial and other hazardous environments using a wireless mesh network. The network includes protocol for dispatch operation, emergency operation, remote supervision, remote status, asset control, machine state of health and operational management. The architecture is based on localized clusters of autonomous nodes capable of ad hoc interconnection with nearby nodes and connection to gateway nodes. The resulting network is an ad hoc mesh topology comprised of fixed mesh nodes with approximately 50% coverage overlap between nodes. This provides a reliable communication network for mobile nodes carried by personnel and sensor nodes that are fixed or mobile that supports voice, data and tracking/situation awareness. Each cluster of nodes transfers digital voice and data to gateway nodes either directly or through multi-hop transactions.

In an aspect, first data is detected for forwarding between a first node in a first network and another node by a network relay including a first network interface hardware component operatively coupled to a first network. A determination is made that a second operative coupling to a second network of a second network interface hardware component in the network relay is disabled. The second network interface hardware component is configured to enabled the second operative coupling, in response to the determination. • Patent number: 8934336
Abstract: A method is provided for facilitating preservation of session context information during an inter-radio access technology service retry. A user equipment (UE) may initiate a data transmission for a first service over a wireless communication session with a first network. Upon ascertaining that the first service has failed over the first network, a failover procedure is initiated by sending a service request for a second service to the first network. The second service may be distinct from the first service and has the effect of suspending the wireless communication session with the first network. The UE then resends the data transmission for the first service over a second network. The UE then resumes use of the wireless communication session over the first network after resending the data transmission over the second network. This resumption is done by using context information for the wireless communication session preserved prior to the suspension.

Abstract: When stored identifying information of a transmission target frame and identifying information of a received frame are equal, a node apparatus updates transmission feasibility information stored in association with the final destination of the received frame. The transmission feasibility information indicates feasibility of transmission to each of a plurality of adjacent node apparatuses being a transmission destination, and is updated so that feasibility of transmission to the transmission destination associated with the identifying information of the received frame indicates that “the transmission is infeasible”. The node apparatus transmits the received frame, when there is no adjacent apparatus to which transmission is feasible, and when the stored identifying information of the transmission target frame is equal to the identifying information of the received frame, to the adjacent node apparatus recognized as the origin in association with the identifying information of the received frame.

Abstract: Techniques to optimize root network node selection for network tree paths are provided. A network disruption event is detected. Network nodes in the network are configured with root priorities. Network nodes in a first set of the network nodes operate as root nodes for ordered network tree paths. Root priority information is retrieved from a database for each of the network nodes. Based on the root priority information, network nodes are selected for a new set of network nodes to operate as new root nodes for new ordered network tree paths upon occurrence of the network disruption event. The new set of network nodes comprises common network nodes present in the first set. An order of the network nodes in the new set is determined such that at least one common network node in the new set is maintained in the same order as that in the first set.
