  • Patent number: 8218535
Abstract: The invention is directed to a communication network wherein a direct tunnel may be formed between a user equipment and a gateway support node, bypassing an intermediate serving support node. If, however, the gateway node should be outside of the actual communication network to which the user equipment is connected, a two-tunnel concept is used wherein a tunnel is provided between the user equipment and the serving support node. Likewise, when receiving a request for Lawful Interception, the tunnel formed between the user equipment and the gateway node is reconfigured to be directed to the serving node for guiding all user traffic and control signaling via this serving node.

Abstract: A transmitting apparatus for transmitting signals in a multi carrier system on the basis of a frame structure, each frame including at least two signalling patterns adjacent to each other in the frequency direction and at least one data pattern. Frame forming means arranges signalling data and pilot signals in each of said at least two signalling patterns in a frame and arrange data on frequency carriers of said at least one data pattern in a frame. Abstract: A method of receiving communications at a data processing device includes receiving a packet from a virtual channel associated with a physical communication link. The packet is associated with a link virtual channel, and is stored in a storage location with the link virtual channel. Multiple internal virtual channels can be associated with the link virtual channel. A pointer to the storage location is enqueued in one of a plurality of FIFOs associated with one of the internal virtual channels. Each FIFO of the plurality of FIFOs stores pointers associated with a different internal virtual channel, allowing receiver arbitration logic to reorder between internal virtual channels based on internal resource availability and current priorities among virtual channels. This reduces the likelihood of communication deadlock and supports multiple classes of service.

Abstract: In various embodiments, methods and systems are provided for acquiring a mobile internet protocol address in a communication network. In an embodiment, a gateway node generates an extension where the extension comprises an authentication node identifier associated with a user identifier. The gateway node then sends a mobile internet protocol request message to a mobile network internet node where the mobile internet protocol request message comprises the extension. The mobile network internet node can then send a mobile internet protocol access request message to an authentication node utilizing the authentication node identifier obtained from the extension.

Abstract: Aspects of the invention are directed to signalling extension frames in a telecommunication system. Extension-frame-signalling data may signal whether one or more extension parts are present in one or more gaps in time between data frames, when the one or more extension parts occur, and one or more durations for the one or more extension parts. The one or more extension parts may occur on the same radio frequencies as the data frames. The extension-frame-signalling data may signal when the one or more extension parts occur by signalling after which of one or more data frames in a super frame the extension parts occur. The one or more durations for the extension parts may be expressed in units of time.

Abstract: Methods of establishing multimedia telecommunication (a multimedia “call”) between equipment (“terminals”). More particularly, the invention provides methods for reducing the time required to establish calls between terminals implementing ITU-T Recommendation H.324 and derived or related standards or recommendations such as 3G-324M. More specifically, it relates to methods and apparatuses for (i) concatenating H.245 messages to pass between the terminals at the start of the call to establish the capabilities of both terminals and agree on the type and format of media and data to be exchanged (ii) using non-standard H.245 messages or standard H.245 messages with non-standard fields to accelerate establishment and (iii) informing each terminal of the capabilities of the other and proposing the type and format of media and data to be exchanged by means of fields inserted in the call signaling protocol used for bearer establishment prior to the H.324 stage of the call.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a path computation client (PCC) generates a path computation request and transmits the path computation request to a path computation element (PCE). The PCC receives from the PCE a response including path segments defining a path, at least one of the path segments being an encrypted path segment that has been encrypted according to an encryption algorithm associated with a remote domain. The PCC then generates a path reservation message that includes the encrypted path segment. This is done without decrypting the encrypted path segment at the PCC. The PCC transmits the path reservation message to one or more nodes along the path, which may be capable of decrypting the encrypted path segment.

Abstract: A technique for reserving resources in a communication network for an entity. Communication units in the network register with policy data points (PDPs) to attain authorization to establish and receive calls in a communication network. The PDPs supply the communication units with security tokens that the communication units use to assert that they are authorized to establish sessions and reserve resources in the communication network. Communication units associated with a call include their tokens in signaling messages that are used to establish the call. Nodes along the path between a communication unit associated with a calling party in the call and a communication unit associated with a called party in the call use the tokens to authenticate the source of the signaling messages and determine whether they have permission to reserve resources in the communication network.

Abstract: When a node has to restart its control component, or a (e.g., label-switched path signaling) part of its control component, if that node can preserve its forwarding information across the restart, the effects of such restarts on label switched path(s) include the restarting node are minimized. A node's ability to preserve forwarding information across a control component (part) restart is advertised. In the event of a restart, stale forwarding information can be used for a limited time before. The restarting node can use its forwarding information, as well as received label-path advertisements, to determine which of its labels should be associated with the path, for advertisement to its peers.
