Multiplexing Plural Input Channels To A Common Output Channel Patents (Class 370/537)
  • Patent number: 8571073
Abstract: An apparatus for mapping multiple lower-speed signal transmission frames to a higher-speed signal transmission frame. The apparatus includes buffers configured to buffer the lower-speed signal transmission frames, determination units configured to determine frequency justification information for the lower-speed signal transmission frames, a barrel shifter configured to receive signals output from the buffers, and a controller configured to control the barrel shifter to map the lower-speed signal transmission frames to the higher-speed signal transmission frame based on external settings for the respective lower-speed signal transmission frames and the frequency justification information determined by the determination units. When the minimum unit of the lower-speed signal transmission frames is a channel, the number of the buffers and the number of the determination units correspond to the maximum number of channels that can be multiplexed in the higher-speed signal transmission frame.

Abstract: An access node is configured to control crosstalk between an activating channel associated with a first terminal and active channels associated with respective other terminals. The access node detects a control signal sent by the first terminal over the activating channel in a designated phase of an initialization process of the first terminal, determines an error signal from the detected control signal, correlates the error signal with one or more corresponding signals sent by respective ones of the other terminals over the active channels, estimates crosstalk from the active channels into the activating channel based on the correlation, and configures a vectoring signal processing module to control the estimated crosstalk. The control signal sent by the first terminal comprises a value selected by the first terminal from a set of two or more values and prior to its detection the particular selected value is unknown to the access node.

  • Patent number: 8369317
Abstract: A method for operating a communications system is disclosed. At a first point in time, the communications system is operated using a first TDM switch/MUX controlling a first set of TDM streams operating at a first frequency. At a second point in time, a second TDM switch/MUX is installed in the communications system which controls the first set of TDM streams operating at the first frequency and also controls a second set of TDM streams operating at a second frequency that is different as compared to the first frequency. The second TDM switch/MUX couples TDM streams to and from the communications system at the first frequency, while concurrently coupling TDM streams to and from the communications system at the second frequency, and an upgradable switch/MUX capability is provided in the communications system.

  • Patent number: 8363606
Abstract: System(s) and method(s) are provided for transmitting data code symbols and control code symbols spanning disparate transmission time intervals in the uplink. Data and control symbols that overlap in time-domain within a transmission time interval are multiplexed and transmitted employing resources scheduled for data transmission, whereas data and control code symbols that are not multiplexed are transmitted in respective allocated resources. Multiplexing in conjunction with localized and distributed resource scheduling preserves the single-carrier characteristics of a single-carrier frequency division multiple access system.

  • Patent number: 8363540
Abstract: A method for generating a transmit sequence in a single carrier frequency division multiple access (SC-FDMA) transmitter is disclosed. In one embodiment, the method includes generating a first time domain sequence, transforming the first time domain sequence to a first frequency domain sequence according to a first transform, distributing the first frequency domain sequence among a subset of subcarriers among a plurality of subcarriers in a second frequency domain sequence, transforming the second frequency domain sequence to a second time domain sequence, and adding a cyclic prefix to the second time domain sequence to form a transmit sequence. In one exemplary embodiment, the first time domain sequence is a plurality of pilot symbols that have known properties e.g., a constant amplitude, and zero autocorrelation (CAZAC).

  • Patent number: 8351323
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for transmitting/receiving a continuous pilot code in a multi-carrier system. The method for transmitting comprises: performing a time-frequency domain two dimensional encoding on an information bit stream to be transmitted; mapping the encoded bit stream to obtain a continuous pilot carrying encoding information; multiplexing a load, a discrete pilot and the mapped continuous pilot carrying the encoding information based on distribution of the load, the discrete pilot and the continuous pilot on a sub-carrier, to generate a frequency domain signal; and performing a frequency-time domain transforming on the generated frequency domain signal, to obtain a time domain sample. The method for receiving comprises: extracting the continuous pilot from an active carrier of a multi-carrier signal; and performing a time-frequency domain decoding on the extracted continuous pilots to obtain the decision of transmitted information bits.

  • Patent number: 8345561
Abstract: A method and system for measuring latency is provided. A monitor node is used to measure latency in a computer network or in a computing device by time stamping signal messages sent from nodes in the computer network and/or tasks in a particular node or device. The time stamps are generated using a system clock of the monitor node to reduce any discrepancies in timing. In addition, the monitor node may compensate for latencies between the monitor node and each of the one or more nodes or devices across which latency is to be measured. Signal messages may include a data message ID and/or a node ID identifying the message that is being tracked and for which latency is being measured. Latency may further be measured across multiple tasks being performed in the same or different nodes or devices by transmitting signal messages for each of the multiple tasks.

  • Patent number: 8345716
Abstract: An antenna array includes pairs of antenna elements, each responsive to mutually orthogonal first and second polarizations for producing streams of analog signals. The number of transceivers is halved by time-division multiplexing the analog signals onto a single path and transceiving the stream in that path. The transceived analog signals are digitized, to produce streams of digital samples, alternate ones of which represent the first and second polarizations. Alternate samples of the stream of digitized signals represent the analog received first and second polarizations. Simple processing identifies the polarization of the received signals, and can be used for weather evaluation or for polarimetric identification.
