Patent number: 4302513Abstract: During manufacture, a rubber or other elastic sheet is forcibly stretched out and smoothly affixed to an adhesive spread out on a backing of cardboard or similar material. The sheet is suitable for receiving typing from a typewriter, and the entire assembly is suitable for insertion and bending over the roll of a common typewriter. During operation, a person types a message on the sheet, removes the assembly from the typewriter and forcibly peels the sheet off the backing. The sheet returns to its original unstretched shape, and the typed words, along with the spaces between the words, occupy less space than those of a similar message typed on ordinary paper. When used with a Xerox or similar copying machine, the reduction in the size of the words and spaces permits the use of many more words per final, normal size page of reproduced document.Type: GrantFiled: August 7, 1980Date of Patent: November 24, 1981Inventor: David E. Patent number: 3963694Abstract: Azo pigments of the formula ##EQU1## wherein A is a condensed ring system consisting of a benzene ring and a 5- or 6-membered hetero ring having nitrogen in the cyclus and a keto group, R is alkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl and Y is hydrogen, halogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkoxy, aryl or nitro, and the azo group is not bonded directly to the hetero ring of the diazo component, are prepared. These pigments are useful for coloring organic material of high molecular weight, such as cellulose ethers and esters, and polyesters. Th pigments have excellent fastness to light and migration.Type: GrantFiled: August 19, 1974Date of Patent: June 15, 1976Assignee: Ciba-Geigy CorporationInventors: Rudolf Mory, Rolf Muller

Patent number: 3949113Abstract: A reservoir containing layered liquids is lined with a liner comprising a reaction resistant material lining the portion of the reservoir in contact with a reactive liquid with the remainder of the reservoir lined with a material that is not resistant to reaction with the reactive liquid. In a specific embodiment asphalt impregnated nonwoven fabric is used to line a reservoir portion in contact with water and butyl rubber impregnated nonwoven fabric is used to line the portion of the reservoir in contact with a hydrocarbon liquid floating on top of the water layer. In a specific embodiment sheets of liner material are fastened together in a liquid proof seal produced by facing liner sheets to be joined together, overlapping the face sheets with a layer of nonwoven fabric, sewing through the four strata laminate thus produced, and treating the nonwoven fabric with a liquid proofing substance.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 1971Date of Patent: April 6, 1976Assignee: Phillips Petroleum CompanyInventors: Homer L.
