Woven Fabric (i.e., Woven Strand Or Strip Material) Patents (Class 442/181)
  • Patent number: 8888464
Abstract: Method for fabricating a reinforcing coating for a part made of composite material. Pre-impregnated reinforcing fibers are used in the form of slivers and said slivers are laid on the part in two layers of longitudinal slivers by being placed thereon. This fabrication makes provision for using an angular orientation for the slivers of each layer respectively of 0° and of some other angle relative to said determined direction of the solid body for covering using an interlaced pattern type that gives layer crossing lines parallel to a longitudinal axis of the solid body for covering, which pattern type is selected to form interlacing patterns that limit the number of layer crossing lines along the longitudinal axis of the solid body for covering to a single line.

Abstract: Geocomposite articles that can provide a barrier against high conductivity water e.g., ocean water, are described and their method of manufacture, for waterproofing surfaces that contact high conductivity water. The geocomposite article mat includes a woven or non-woven geotextile sheet or mat containing a powdered or granular partially cross-linked acrylamide/acrylate/acrylic acid copolymer across its entire major surface(s). The powdered or granular copolymer has an unexpectedly high free-swell when hydrated with High Conductivity water, such as ocean water. A liquid-impermeable cover sheet is adhered to the upper major surfaces of the filled copolymer-carrying geotextile to provide a primary high conductivity water barrier layer that, if ruptured, is sealed by the swell of an underlying layer of water-insoluble, partially cross-linked acrylamide/acrylic acid copolymer.

Abstract: This invention relates to a process of making a fiber-reinforced composite. Glass fibers may be provided. These glass fibers may be treated with a sizing composition that has a coupling-activator compound with the formula: S—X-(A)n, where S represents a silicon-containing coupling moiety capable of bonding to the surface of glass fibers, X represents a linking moiety, and (A)n represents one or more polymerization activator moieties. The treated glass fibers may be combined with a resin to make a fiber-resin mixture. The resin may have a monomer, a catalyst, and an activator compound capable of initiating a polymerization of the monomer. The monomer may be a lactam or lactone having 3-12 carbon atoms in the main ring. The fiber-resin mixture may then be cured so that the monomer polymerizes to form a thermoplastic polymer matrix of the fiber-reinforced composite. The thermoplastic polymer matrix may be formed by in situ polymerization initiated from both the surface of the glass fibers and the resin.

Abstract: A solar Heat system that produces direct heat, and shades the bright sun's rays that come through your existing glass areas, such as windows, doors, etc. The Solar Heat Film can be hung easily on the interior trim of windows, doors, etc. With two pieces of tape, or any other simple method, the Solar Heat Film can be put on to a shade roll to make it functional, or it will be sold as a Solar Heat Shade. The system utilizes the room, house and structure as a battery to store the heat gain. The extra heat will slowly absorb into the floors, walls, ceiling, furniture, etc. When the sun goes down, the furnace does not come on until later, and when it does it's just maintaining the temperature instead of trying to capture it up, this creates a big difference in fuel savings.

Abstract: The security packaging device according to the invention consists of a known cut-resistant textile structure having integrated conductive thread layers which, in the event of mechanical loading, trigger an alarm signal. When cut-resistant knitted spacer fabrics are used, the inner surfaces of the top side and the entire underside or the inner surfaces thereof are conductive. Additional weft insertion threads, which are parallel to the spacer threads, are arranged as spacers between the top side and underside, in order to prevent any unintentional contact if pressure is applied.

  • Patent number: 8586489
Abstract: A woven fabric is provided that incorporates multiple systems of fibers into a unitary fabric and presents the fibers of only one of the warp systems on a first surface of the fabric. The fabric structure comprises first, second, and third warp systems that are interlaced with weft fibers such that, of the three warp systems, the first surface of the fabric comprises only the first warp system and thus “hides” the second and third warp systems, which are not interwoven with the fibers of the first warp system. In this way, the effect of the appearance of the second and third warp systems on the overall appearance of the fabric is reduced. The three warp systems may include fibers made of different materials to provide different characteristics to each layer of the fabric, or the warp systems may include fibers made of the same material.
