  • Publication number: 20040266291
Abstract: A wide-meshed grid fabric, in particular a geogrid, in which warp thread bundles composed of multiple warp threads and weft thread bundles composed of multiple weft threads intersect and surround meshes or lattice openings. To give the grid fabric, which may also be a scrim, a greater volume, whereby, among other things, improved reinforcement of the soil may be achieved, individual threads of a thread bundle in a mesh are longer than other threads of the same thread bundle, the longer threads running in a wave pattern and forming at least one open loop or bulge per mesh; the open loop or bulge may protrude upward and/or downward from the plane of the grid fabric. A plastic coating may stiffen the grid fabric.

  • Patent number: 6818571
Abstract: The invention relatrs to a wide-meshed fabric (1) treated with bonding agents. The inventive mesh is made up of bundles (4) consisting of several warop threads (3) and bundloes (6) consisting of several weft threads (5) surrounding the inner meshes (7). The warp threads (3) are interwoven with the weft threads (5) at intersection points (5) of the bundles (4) of warp threads and bundles (6) of weft threads (5) running at right-angles to each other. In order to firmly secure the warp threads and the weft threads, the bundles (4) of warp threads are divided into a first group (4′) of warp threads and a second group (4″) of warp threads and the first group of warp threads crosses over the second group of warp threads threads belonging to the same bundle (4) of warp threads for each mesh (7) thereby forming a half-twist. Similarly, the warp threads (3) of both groups (4′, 4″) of warp threads are interwoven with the weft threads (5), running substantially parallel to each other.

Abstract: An improved camouflaged product and method of making such a product is disclosed. A multi-layered camouflage construction may comprise a first textile substrate and a second textile substrate secured to each other along parallel lines of stitching. The second textile substrate may be cut to form lobes oriented transversely to the lines of stitching to simulate the appearance of natural objects in the terrain, such as leaves or foliage. Thread which is capable of shrinking is used to attach textile substrates to each other, and then the thread is heated to shrink the thread into the stitch, forming a hardened seam with gathering and bunching of one or more substrates along the seam. Gathering of substrate along a seam contributes to the three-dimensional visual effect of the camouflage construction.

  • Publication number: 20040180591
Abstract: A belt reinforcing fabric for conveyor belts including sets of longitudinal warp yarns that are woven in leno weave fashion about lateral weft yarns that are made of monofilament. For each area on the fabric including sets of warp yarns, there is also an adjacent area that does not include warp yarns. Therefore, a space or gap is created between the areas occupied by the sets of warp yarns. When the belt is cut, it can be cut along the gap so that only the monofilament weft yarns are visible along the edges and not the warp yarns, which, if exposed at the cut edges, would tend to wick moisture into the belt. The present conveyor belt is particularly useful in conveying food items because of its tendency to reduce the opportunity to pick up and spread contaminating agents such as bacteria.

A layer of diffractive or retroreflective material is secured beneath the textile fabric layer, either directly or beneath a layer of substantially transparent material. The textile fabric layer is of an open or semi-transparent construction, so that light can pass through it to reach the layer of diffractive or retroreflective material and be reflected back through the layer of textile fabric, to provide a unique appearance to its visual surface. Abstract: Improvements in preventing heat- and moisture-shrink problems in specific polypropylene tape fibers are provided. Such fibers are basically manufactured through the initial production of polypropylene films or tubes which are then slit into very thin, though flat (and having very high cross sectional aspect ratios) tape fibers thereafter. Such fibers (and thus the initial films and/or tubes) require the presence of certain compounds that quickly and effectively provide rigidity to the target polypropylene tape fiber after heat-setting. Generally, these compounds include any structure that nucleates polymer crystals within the target polypropylene after exposure to sufficient heat to melt the initial pelletized polymer and upon allowing such a melt to cool. The compounds must nucleate polymer crystals at a higher temperature than the target polypropylene without the nucleating agent during cooling.

Moreover, the net body can be integrally woven by net yarns of two or more than two different colors with the large meshwork in contrast or matching with the small net layer in different colors to verify and increase the beauty of the net body in display.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a stabproof and bulletproof panel. The stabproof and bulletproof panel includes a bulletproof panel 40 and a plurality of stabproof panels 60. The bulletproof panel 40 is comprised of a front plate 45, a plurality of high density polyethylene films 44 stacked with one on top of another for dispersing impact energy, and a rear plate 46 formed by sewing together a plurality of aromatic polyamide woven fabrics for minimizing frictional heat and deformation. The front plate 45 consists of a plurality of aromatic polyamide woven fabrics 41, a felt 50 formed by forcibly inserting thin aromatic polyamide fibers or high density polyethylene fibers 52 and a shock-absorbing member 51 into a scrim woven in the form of a net using aromatic polyamide fibers or high density polyethylene yarn, and a plurality of aromatic polyamide woven fabrics 43. The stabproof panels 60 are brought into tight contact with the front surface of the bulletproof panel 40.

Abstract: Highly conductive elastomeric sheet. Preferably, the conductive elastomeric sheet comprises a conductive wire mesh loaded into an elastomeric matrix from which is also loaded with a conductive particulate. Preferably, the particulate comprises carbon particulate having a sub-micron size, and is present in an amount between ten percent (10%) to twenty percent (20%) by volume. The conductive elastomeric materials are exceptionally durable and retain a high degree of conductivity well-after ten thousand (10,000) fatigue performance cycles.

Abstract: A Wind and Sun Tolerant Mesh is disclosed which is composed of either natural or synthetic material, the generally vertical directional strands crossed by horizontal strands, some or all of which individual horizontal strands of which broaden out on one side forming as sill which projects outward at an angle away from the plane surface of the mesh in a venetian blind profile, and wind baffling effect, while simultaneously allowing release of any excess pressure from wind gusting into the opposite side due to the semi permeable nature of the mesh and as there is no restricting sill on the inside surface, thus giving better control and protection to either articles or utilities made from, and/or persons or property protected by, commodities of any various sort constructed wholly or partly from the mesh.

Abstract: Tissue products such as facial tissue, bath tissue, paper towels and the like are wet molded and dried using a through-air-drying fabric which has a three dimensional, sculptured, textured background accentuated with decorative signature patterns. The textured background is woven into the fabric. The decorative patterns are created by using a smooth polymeric substance or by yarn stitches. The decorative patterns on the through air drying fabric provide enhanced aesthetics, while the textured background provides improved properties such as absorbent capacity, absorbent rate, stretch, flexibility, drape, bulk, and hand feel when used in tissue making.

Abstract: A composite fabric for use in reinforcement, particularly tensile reinforcement, of cementitious boards and similar prefabricated building wall panels. The fabric is constructed as a mesh of continuously coated, high modulus of elasticity strands. The high modulus strands are preferably bundled glass fibers encapsulated by alkali and water resistant thermoplastic material. The composite fabric also has suitable physical characteristics for embedment within the cement matrix of the panels or boards closely adjacent the opposed faces thereof. The fabric provides long-lasting, high strength tensile reinforcement of the panels or boards regardless of their spatial orientation during handling. The reinforcement also enhances the impact resistance of the boards after installation. Included as part of the invention are methods for making the reinforcement, cementitious boards and panels including the reinforcement, and methods for manufacturing such boards and panels.
