Abstract: A device for soothing, stimulating, distracting and captivating a child has a body with a rigid body wall defining an interior cavity and including a first circular wall and cylindrical perimeter wall. The first circular wall has an outer surface with a light color and a plurality of indentations formed in the surface configured for casting shadows on the light color of the surface and creating contrast between the shadows and the light color. The indentations are sized and shaped to form a human face including first and second indentations forming eyes and a third indentation forming a mouth to stimulate the child. A pair of broadly rounded protrusions extend from opposite sides of the body forming handles and being generally configured to define human ears. A vibration mechanism is disposed in the interior cavity of the body for vibrating the body. A light source is disposed on the body wall for emitting light. Abstract: A doll includes a pair of arms, a pair of legs and a head supported by a doll torso. One of the doll arms is secured to the torso at a shoulder joint which includes the outer end of an arm movement mechanism. The arm movement mechanism includes an arm shaft pivotally supported at the shoulder joint of the doll at one end and having a ball at the interior end thereof. The arm movement mechanism within the doll further includes a slidably supported traveler having a spring urging the traveler toward one end of its motion. The traveler includes a rearwardly extending lever passing through an aperture formed in the doll torso. The traveler defines a socket which receives the ball end of the arm shaft in a pivotal attachment. As the user moves the lever upon the doll torso, the arm shaft is pivoted causing a corresponding pivotal movement of the doll arm.

  • Patent number: 6210250
Abstract: An ornamental display apparatus suited for the Christmas season having a concealable figurine that is movable from a concealed position to a display position. While the figurine is in the display position, seasonal music is broadcasted. The ornamental display apparatus generally comprises a base, a botanical model, a housing, a figurine, a motorized drive assembly and a music broadcasting means. The botanical model is disposed on the base, and the housing is enclosed within the botanical model. The botanical model is movable between an open and closed position. The figurine resides atop the base and is movable between a concealed position within the housing and an exposed position external to the botanical model. The motorized drive assembly moves the figurine between the concealed and exposed position, as well as the botanical model between the open and closed position.

  • Patent number: 6200190
Abstract: A mechanism adaptable for a toy provides a hugging motion to a pair of arms extending outward from each side of a rear body member. A front body member is supported by a bottom hinge in V-shaped hinged relation in front of the rear body member. Each arm is comprised of an upper arm and a relatively long forearm supported in hinged relation on the outer end of the upper arm. For each arm, a wide, elongated, yielding forearm actuator is hingedly attached on its outer end to the forearm and on its inner end to the front body member. A hand is hingedly supported on the outward end of the forearm. Supported in front of the forearm is an elongated, yielding hand actuator adapted to move the hand when the forearm actuator is moved toward the forearm. Squeezing the body portions together causes the forearm actuators to pivot the forearms forward in a hugging motion.

Abstract: A toy figure torso supports at least one pivotal arm together with a spring-loaded mechanism urging the arm toward pivotal motion in a forward direction. A spring is coupled to the arm and provides the urging force. A trigger and latch mechanism is supported within the torso of the toy figure and is operable by a push button supported at the torso rear. The mechanism includes a cooperating lock arm and a cam which engage to inhibit return motion when the toy figure arm is raised to the cocked position. Energy is stored in the spring which is released by activation of the push button allowing rapid forwardly pivoting motion of the arm.

Abstract: A toy figure includes a body, a pair of wings, a pair of legs, a tail, and a head converted to generally resemble a bird or other flying creature. The legs and wings are pivotally mounted to the body using a mechanism by which the pivotal movement of the legs in response to the user squeezing and releasing them repeatedly produces a corresponding wing-flapping action. A spring urges the wings to a raised position and urges the legs to a spread position. The head is pivotally supported by the body and a cam follower and cam arrangement couples the head to the wing movement apparatus such that the head moves side-to-side simultaneous with the wing-flapping movement.
