  • Patent number: 10134059
Abstract: Described herein are techniques for streaming digital media content, such as music, video, or television content. In accordance with an embodiment, the system includes support for providing music-styled advertisement or other sponsor-directed content. Metadata describes media content that can be streamed or otherwise provided to a user's media device. A media streaming logic and targeting service analyzes a playing media content, and selects advertisements for delivery in conjunction with that content. For example, the system can determine a genre, tempo, or mood of music being streamed during a session, and select advertisements targeted to a style of music. Information associated with the user, for example their location, can be used to predict their mood, and select appropriate advertisements. Advertisements can also be selected based on an analysis of, for example, a playlist description or a song lyrics.

Abstract: A method includes attempting, by a computing device capable of connecting to a long term evolution (LTE) cellular network, to perform a first non-access stratum (NAS) procedure via a serving eNodeB associated with a serving cell included in the LTE cellular network. The first NAS procedure includes a radio access network (RAN) layer portion and a NAS layer portion. The method further includes determining that the first NAS procedure was unsuccessful due to a first NAS procedure failure. In response to the first NAS procedure being unsuccessful due to the first NAS procedure failure, a first alternate cell included in the LTE cellular network is selected, and there is an attempt to perform a second NAS procedure via a first eNodeB associated with the first alternate cell. The selection of the first alternate cell is initiated by the computing device.

Abstract: For transmitting data between a node (100) of a mobile network and a further node (200), the further node sends downlink data packets to the node (100) of the mobile network. The downlink data packets carry a destination address corresponding to a user equipment (10) connected to the mobile network. For implementing an inband data channel between the node (100) of the mobile network and the further node (200), the further node (200) inserts data destined to the node (100) of the mobile network into at least one of the downlink data packets and marks this downlink data packet as including data destined to the node (100) of the mobile network. The node (100) of the mobile network receives the downlink data packets from the further node (200) and identities, on the basis of the marking, the least one downlink data packet including data destined to the node (100) of the mobile network. Abstract: A system and method for preference determination, including obtaining permission for profile access from social media users where the users agree to participate in surveys. Profile data, preferences, and data from completed surveys is retrieved, and base odds are calculated for particular variables in profiles of respondents and of people in the general population, and attributes for which predictive targeted sets are desired are returned. The profile data, preferences, and survey data is analyzed using a combined index calculation method to reduce the profile data, preferences, and data from surveys to a single index value for one or more particular keywords. The variables are placed in rank order based on the single index value to determine a likelihood of a particular user to prefer a particular item, and a predictive targeted set is returned for a likelihood of users in a particular set of users to prefer a particular item.

  • Patent number: 9811536
Abstract: Systems and methods are described to identify in the images text, people, landmarks, objects, or any combination thereof and to store and search for images based on extracted data. A portable computing device, such as a wireless phone or tablet computer, may capture an image, determine context data associated with the image, and send the image and context data to an analyzer. The analyzer may extract data from the image and send the extracted data to the portable computing device. For example, the analyzer may determine if the image includes alphanumeric characters and perform character recognition (e.g., using optical character recognition (OCR) or similar technology). A format of the characters that are recognized in the image may be analyzed to determine additional information, such as whether the characters are a phone number, a uniform resource locator (URL), a name of a person, a name of a location, or the like. The analyzer may determine if the image includes a person, a landmark, an object, etc.

  • Patent number: 9805396
Abstract: Playback of a tagged audio stream at mobile communications device, or other processing device, can be controlled transparently to a user of the device by implementing multiple instances of a media player. A Spot Caching Instance of the media player can receive and cache an untagged content stream from an advertisement server. A Content Playback Instance of the media player can be used to play back and process a tagged content stream from a radio station to identify tags. When the Content Playback Instance detects a tag, it transfers control to an Ad Spot Playback Instance of the media player, which can play back part or all of the untagged content stream from cache. When playback of the untagged content stream is completed, the Ad Spot Playback Instance transfers control back to the Content Playback Instance.

Also disclosed are the internal structures of the above file relay policy server and IM server and a file transfer method. If the file receiver has not logged in the IM system, it is possible that the file sender sends a file to the file relay policy server, the file relay policy server forwards the file to an appropriate file relay server, and the file relay server transfers the file to a mobile terminal as the file receiver according to a file transfer protocol of the file relay server itself, thereby facilitating the file transfer for the mobile subscriber and enhancing the mobile subscriber's experience in using the mobile IM service.

Abstract: A Zone Control service is disclosed which provides for hierarchically managing a plurality of networked media subsystems. This can provide a layer of abstraction for the collection in the form of a single Renderer zone interface represented by a delegated zone controller. This hierarchy establishes a virtual super-system. Although a Zone Control services can be advertised on all networked media devices, the services will typically be unavailable while a device is subservient to, or equivalently under the control of, a zone controller. A single instance of the Zone Control service can reside in a Services Device, co-existing with a Group Control service.

Abstract: Systems and methods for segmenting a period of time into identification of locations of a user who performs activities are described. One of the methods includes detecting activity of a monitoring device worn by the user. The activity includes an amount of movement of the monitoring device. The activity is performed for a period of time. The method further includes obtaining geo-location data for the monitoring device and storing, during the period of time, the detected activity and corresponding geo-location data. The method also includes analyzing the detected activity and the corresponding geo-location data to identify one or more events. Each event is associated with a group of activity data and one or more of the groups of activity data is associated with an identifier, which is obtained using the geo-location data.
