Abstract: Doors such as garage doors can be automated by pushing commands to a removable device attached to the garage door. The state of the door (e.g. whether the door is open or closed) may be obtained from a position sensor located within a removable device. An implementation may indicate, over a wireless network, the state of the door to a user. The user may send a command to a wireless transmitter located within the device to change the state of the door. An implementation may also send a signal to the door to change the state of the door.

Abstract: A self-contained latch module in combination with a pusher and catch (collectively “latch assembly”) allows for the locking of two doors with a single lock. The latch module contains two spring-loaded bolts, one active and one passive. Pushing the active bolt into the latch housing, the passive bolt extends out of the opposite side of the latch housing. Pushing onto the passive bolt in the direction of the latch housing while the active bolt is depressed will allow the passive bolt to retract into the housing without affecting the active bolt on the opposite side. This allows a user to slam closed the associated doors in any order. The self-latching nature of this latch assembly allows for the automatic latching of the cabinet doors without having to manually latch one of the doors before locking the other.

Abstract: A novel electric door opener for a garage, or equivalent structure, which uses a rail fixed at one end to a drive assembly and the other end to a mounting support, in which the drive assembly is mounted on the wall over the garage doorway with a pivotable mount, rather than the uniform practice wherein the drive assembly is suspended from the garage ceiling, thus significantly enhancing safety during installation and over the lifetime of the unit. In addition, the means whereby prior art rail type garage door openers, including their drive assemblies and overall mounting methods, are redesigned to reduce the invention to practice. The simplification of mounting hardware and process with this design makes it much easier and safer to install, remove, and replace an assembled rail type garage door opener, using only three removable pins.

The gate assembly includes barrier means mountable directly or indirectly to one or more surrounding surfaces defining said opening, and hinge means to allow said barrier means to be movable relative to said surrounding surfaces in use between a closed condition, wherein the opening is closed, to an open condition, wherein the opening is open. The hinge means are arranged so that the barrier means and/or hinge means has an axis of pivot which is at an acute angle to a vertical axis. Resilient biasing means are associated with the hinge means to help bias the barrier means from the open condition to the closed condition in use. The resilient biasing means act in a direction along a substantially horizontal axis or along an axis substantially transverse or perpendicular to the axis of pivot of the barrier means and/or hinge means.
