  • Patent number: 5109559
Abstract: A relatively shallow mattress for a bed which has three integral parts: an inner bladder, an outer bladder and a mattress cover. The inner bladder is formed from a rectangular top and bottom side welded together along the edges. The top side contains a valve. The outer bladder is effectively a safety cover for the inner bladder. It surrounds the inner bladder and but for a circular opening which allows access to the valve on the top side of the inner bladder, it is fluid tight. It is made in a similar fashion to the inner bladder which it permanently encloses. The mattress cover has an upper surface made of a quilted ticking. This ticking incorporates a thermal barrier layer. The mattress cover has a bottom and sides made from a relatively light woven cloth fabric. The mattress cover totally surrounds the bladder. An elongate zipper along the edge of the top surface allows insertion of the bladders and access to the valve used for filling.

  • Patent number: 5099532
Abstract: The pad has an upper cotton layer quilted to an underlying soaker layer formed of needle-punched nonwoven polyester fibers having good absorbency and wickability. A plurality of longitudinally and transversely extending stabilizing strips underlie the soaker layer. The strips are preferably formed of nylon fabric having a dry polymer coating which renders the fabric waterproof and heat-bondable. The pad also includes a lower layer formed of the same type of coated nylon fabric. The stabilizing strips are connected by stitching to the upper layer and the soaker layer of the pad, and are bonded to the pad's bottom layer. The bonding is effected by application of heat and pressure sufficient to effect melding of the coatings upon the stabilizing strips and the lower layer.

  • Patent number: 5099531
Abstract: The present invention attaches a row of fasteners such as buttons along the foot of a mattress. Holes are also provided in associated sheets, blankets, comforters and other covers. Preferably, the fasteners are mounted on fairly long, flexible shanks so that they can pass through the holes in the layers of covers to secure and automatically align the covers relative to the mattress and to one another. The covers may be fastened to one another at the top edges thereof using fasteners such as button tracks. The foot and edge fasteners facilitate making and remaking the bed covers. Also, the fasteners and holes may be formed in a standardized configuration and spacing to provide upward and downward compatibility among different mattress sizes.

  • Patent number: 4777677
Abstract: The mattress pad and fitted bed sheet (31) are formed by placing equal lengths of mattress pad material (58) and bed sheet material (61) in overlying relationship and sewing the narrower mattress pad material at its side edges to the sheet material. The combined work product is then cut to length, the end portions folded over, and the corners bevelled and sewn together. An elastic tape (48, 49) is applied to each end of the work product so as to draw the mattress pad and fitted bed sheet about the mattress. The structure enables the mattress pad and fitted bed sheet to stay in proper position even when applied to a foldable mattress (24) of a sofa bed (20), when the mattress is folded into its hidden position inside the sofa bed.

Abstract: A comforter to be used when sleeping made by joining a front cover cloth and a back cover cloth by sewing their edges together. The inside of the comforter is divided into a plurality of spaces by crosswise parting members and lengthwise parting members, the height of each of the crosswise parting members becoming lower toward both ends, and each space is filled with down which is soft, fine feathers, etc. Because of the parting members, the down does not move around inside the comforter, and always follow the posture of the person using it, thus snugly covering their body.
