  • Publication number: 20030230058
Abstract: A pneumatic strapping tool for tensioning a strap around a load, adhering the strap onto itself, and cutting a feed end of the strap includes a piston, a weld motor operably connected to the piston and a vibrating weld element operably connected to the piston for contacting the strap and adhering the strap onto itself. A tensioning motor is configured for unidirectional rotation. A feed wheel is operably connected to the tensioning motor by a drive assembly to tension the strap prior to adhering the strap onto itself. A transmission cooperates with the drive assembly and is switchable between a first state in which the transmission engages the drive assembly to permit only one-way rotation of the drive assembly and a second state in which the transmission permits two-way rotation of the drive assembly. The strapping tool includes a self-contained pneumatic module that is removably mounted to a cylinder housing.

Abstract: A touch roller can be moved between three positions. In the first position, the touch roller is pressed onto a forward driving roller. In the second position, the touch roller is pressed onto a reverse driving roller with two different forces. In the third position, the touch roller is spaced from both the forward driving roller and the reverse driving roller. When the touch roller is pushed onto the reverse driving roller with a small force, the reverse driving roller pulls back a band and wraps the band around an article to be packed. • Patent number: 6209449
Abstract: Two per se known cross-strapping devices (10, 11) to which packages or bundles (1, 2 . . . 5) to be strapped are supplied in a conveying direction (F) in which one package or bundle at a time is positioned and crosswise strapped and out of which strapped packages or bundles are conveyed in the same conveying direction (F), are arranged in direct succession and are operated as a “tandem” by supplying two packages or bundles (1, 2), one to each one of the devices, by simultaneously strapping them and by conveying them away again simultaneously. For this purpose, a mutual control mode is necessary in which mutual control mode, in the two devices conveying steps (b) are carried out alternating with strapping steps (a) whereby the conveying stroke (2h) of the conveying steps is twice as long as when operating one only device. Compared to a single cross-strapping device, the arrangement has an increased performance and requires a minimal amount of additional space.

  • Patent number: 6101792
Abstract: A feeding device for a strapping machine comprises a feed guide mounted to a frame to receive a nylon strap from a feed coil. The feed guide comprises a housing having a triangular cross-section and an apertured transition member mounted therein which receives the strap feed and directs the strap onto a flat exit portion of the frame. The exit portion includes a pivotal cam lock which engages the flat strap to prevent recoil thereof. The feed guide includes a predetermined internal taper which directs the strap onto a flat portion of the frame despite the angle of the incoming feed strap thereby eliminating problems with shredding of the strap which occur in the strapping head.

  • Patent number: 6082254
Abstract: For strapping substantially parallelepipedic objects or stacks which are conveyed into a strapping position and out of this position after strapping, a strapping tape extending in a starting position substantially straight from one side of the conveying path to the opposite side is formed into a tape bow with the help of two tape positioning devices arranged on the two opposite sides of the conveying path. Then, the object to be strapped is conveyed into the tape bow and the tape is tensioned around the object and is closed around the object and cut off the tape supply in the region of its starting position such that the object is strapped and the tape is again in its starting position. By adapting the size of the tape bow according to the format of an object to be strapped, the tape does not have to be pulled back for tensioning it around the object or stack. Therefore, the device is simple and the time required for strapping is short.

  • Patent number: 6070398
Abstract: Banknotes directed along the formation channels of a machine for making up bundles are caused to accumulate into an ordered stack at the outlet of each channel. The machine utilizes a bundling unit equipped with a sliding carriage and a first gripper, of which the operation is piloted by sensors associated with each outlet and governed by a monitoring and control unit in such a way that the gripper will address the single outlet each time a stack is formed, then pick up the stack and pass it to a second gripper forming part of a translate and tilt unit; this same unit proceeds first to offer the stack of banknotes to a binder, by which two wrapping bands are applied to the two ends to complete the bundle, and thereafter to tilt the bundle into the path of a push rod which directs it toward a packaging and/or storage station.

Abstract: A continuous form assembly of ultrasonically weldable sleeve blanks formed by an elongated flexible web has a longitudinal series of pairs of transversely spaced apart and generally longitudinally extending slits therethrough, each pair of slits partially defining an associated sleeve blank. Pin feed aperture formed in the longitudinally extending marginal portions of the web cooperate with a tractor feed mechanism of a sleeve forming apparatus to intermittently advance the web through the apparatus. An electrical conductor or groups of conductors manually fed into the apparatus engage the web and form an associated blank into a loop surrounding the conductor or group of conductors. Ultrasonic sealing and severing jaws simultaneously join opposite end portions of the sleeve blank together in assembly to form a tubular sleeve surrounding an associated portion of the individual conductor or a group of conductors and simultaneously sever the formed sleeve from the web.
