  • Patent number: 4727716
Abstract: To improve integration of fibers into a yarn end and thereby improve yarn quality, fibers are directed to a feeding nip defined on an opposite side of a pair of friction rollers forming a spinning nip. The fibers are directed out of the feeding nip, passed between the friction rollers, and forwarded into the spinning nip. One of the friction rollers may constitute a conveying roller which exerts greater force upon the fibers than the other roller to securely convey fibers through a gap between the rollers and into the spinning nip.

  • Patent number: 4718227
Abstract: An open-end spinning process in which the fiber sliver is separated into single fibers and in which the separated fiber material is brought by an air stream to a collecting surface from which it is drawn off while being twisted. According to the instant invention the fiber material is deposited on a collecting surface moving in the direction of thread draw-off, is then twisted and is continuously drawn off said collecting surface in form of a thread. The single fibers are fed upon the collecting surface in the direction of said collecting surface's movement, whereby an alignment of the fibers on the collecting surface takes place. The doubling process is separated from the spinning process as the fiber material is bundled and/or doubled on the collecting surface into a fiber sliver with the fiber mass required for the desired thread. The twisting process takes place independently of the collecting surface by means of a known twisting mechanism.

Abstract: Fibres are spun into yarn by being opened close to a surface (S, SD) and directed to the surface, conveniently by suction (AS) through the surface. A yarn or yarn end (Y) is twisted over the surface to have opened fibres built onto it to be spun into a twisted yarn. The surface can be a groove (GD) of included angle less than 90.degree.. The close spacing (WS) of a means to open the fibres and the surface can be such that fibres being opened are within reach of the surface. The yarn is twisted by a twister such as a parallel-belt twister (TB1/TB2) close to but not part of the surface. Tension (T) is applied through the twister to draw off yarn.

  • Patent number: 4676059
Abstract: In preparation for the start of spinning with an open-end spinning apparatus, suction is provided outside a fiber transport path on the periphery of an opening roller. Such suction is greater than spinning suction which exists at the mouth of a feed channel leading to the fiber-collecting surface. The fiber stream is thereby guided beyond such mouth to be sucked off. At commencement of actual spinning, this added suction is inactivated, to permit the fiber stream to be initially supplied to the fiber-collecting surface. The fiber stream may be controlled with a suction source connected to a sucking-off orifice via a switching device and a suction line. Less conspicuous and more even thread joins are thereby obtained. Control of suction changes may be effected automatically from a servicing trolley, or in other manners.

  • Patent number: 4435955
Abstract: A method and apparatus for open-end spinning of novelty yarn produces novelty yarns in a simple manner. A sliver is fed to the fiber separating device of an open-end spinning apparatus to form distinct fibers, the fibers are air transported in a fiber flow path to the twisting device, controlled formation of effects (particularly slubs) is effected during air transport of the distinct fibers in their path, the formed effects are intermittently passed to the twisting device (e.g. pseudo-randomly), the fibers fed to the twisting device are twisted into a continuous strand of effect yarn (particularly slub yarn), and the continuous strand of effect yarn is taken up. The controlled formation of effects may be accomplished in a number of manners: introducing a needle making an angle of 25.degree.-45.degree.

  • Patent number: 4435954
Abstract: In a fiber opening device in open-end spinning unit, having a combing roller which is encased by a casing and forming a fiber transferring passage between said combing roller and said casing, a wear-resistant member, preferably a member having a pin shape, is provided at an edge of an opening, e.g. a trash exit port opening formed in said casing and communicated with said passage. The structure of the fiber opening device according to the present invention makes possible easy installation of the wear-resistant member, and prevents harmful wear or bruising at said edge portion of the opening in the casing.

  • Patent number: 4426840
Abstract: An open-end spinning machine having a plurality of spinning units (5) arranged side by side in a row extending in the longitudinal direction of the spinning machine. Each of the spinning units (5) has a filter (11) disposed at the front surface thereof and extending for substantially the entire width thereof. All the filters (11) arranged on the spinning units (5) disposed at one side of the spinning machine lie on a substantially identical imaginary plane slightly upwardly inclined from a horizontal plane when seen from the front to the rear. Each spinning unit includes a duct means (13) having air passages (15, 23, 27, 31) extending from the openings (13a, 13b, 13c, 13d) located adjacent to the filter (11) to the upper surface of a feeding roller (25), the upper and lower surfaces of a combing roller (21), and the periphery of the combing roller (21).

  • Patent number: 4387558
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for lining a housing which receives an opening roller of a fiber opening device for an open-end spinning apparatus by means of a finite metal band, wherein the housing comprises apertures in its generated surface which connect the interior of the housing to other parts of the spinning apparatus and to which apertures in the metal band correspond.

  • Patent number: 4381638
Abstract: The present invention concerns the production of fancy yarns, in which during open-end spinning a roving is supplied program-controlled to the spinning unit for the yarn to be produced. According to the invention at least one roving bobbin is supported by a support member, which is detachably arranged on a can used as a receptable for the fibre material to be processed. The bobbin creel used up to the present for the bobbins impairs the accessability of the winding locations for the fancy yarn produced. This creel, according to the invention, no longer is required. Thus, the cumbersome mounting and dismantling of the creel in changing over from normal yarn to fancy yarn and vice-versa is dispensed with. According to the invention the alterations required for such changes of the yarn production mode are extremely simple.

  • Patent number: 4361007
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of and an apparatus for open-end spinning a novelty yarn (especially slub yarns), and the yarn so produced. The controlled formation of effects is preferably accomplished by introducing a needle into the fiber flow path in the transport section, the fibers collecting on the needle. The fibers are passed to the twisting device by withdrawing the needle from the fiber flow.

  • Patent number: RE32507
Abstract: An opening roller unit for open-end spinning installations as a shaft supported in a bearing box and an opening roller arranged on an end of the shaft which projects from the bearing box. The opening roller extends over the bearing box in a manner forming a cavity that is sealed toward the outside with an annular sealing gap and comprises the base member and the ring detachably secured thereto which has a fitting provided on the outer periphery thereof. The detachable ring is mounted upon the base member in a manner blocking the external axis to the cavity. In accordance with one preferred embodiment, the ring of the opening roller extends over the bearing box and the cavity is defined by the ring and bearing box, while the scaling gap is provided between the ring and the bearing box in conjunction with an annular insert attached to the bearing box.
