Abstract: A novel and useful method for enabling system logs to be effectively and efficiently monitored by ranking the system log messages by their estimated value to administrators and generating a log view that displays the most important messages. The ranking process uses a dataset of system logs from many computer systems to score messages. For better scoring, unsupervised clustering is used to identify sets of systems that behave similarly. The expected distribution of messages in a given system is estimated using the resulting clusters, and log messages are scored using this estimation.

Abstract: Provided in some embodiments is a method including receiving ordered script words are indicative of dialogue words to be spoken, receiving audio data corresponding to at least a portion of the dialogue words to be spoken and including timecodes associated with dialogue words, generating a matrix of the ordered script words versus the dialogue words, aligning the matrix to determine hard alignment points that include matching consecutive sequences of ordered script words with corresponding sequences of dialogue words, partitioning the matrix of ordered script words into sub-matrices bounded by adjacent hard-alignment points and including corresponding sub-sets the script and dialogue words between the hard-alignment points, and aligning each of the sub-matrices.

Abstract: A method, system, and computer-readable storage medium for performing content based transitions between images. Image content within each image of a set of images are analyzed to determine at least one respective characteristic metric for each image. A respective transition score for each pair of at least a subset of the images is determined with respect to each transition effect of a plurality of transition effects based on the at least one respective characteristic metric for each image. Transition effects implementing transitions between successive images for a sequence of the images are determined based on the transition scores. An indication of the determined transition effects is stored. The determined transition effects are useable to present the images in a slideshow or other image sequence presentation.

Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for enabling shared viewing and editing of time-based media with improved speed by avoiding manipulation and re-manipulation of a stored underlying video data format through the use of metadata processes and cross-linked multi-level metadata processes and systems for operating with a decision list tracking device.

Abstract: An image capture device in an endoscopic imaging system receives a video stream generated by an endoscopic video camera. In response to automatic recognition of a spoken utterance while the video stream is being received from the endoscopic video camera, the image capture device associates with the video stream an annotation that corresponds to the spoken utterance. The image capture device provides the video stream to a display device for display, such that the annotation can be overlaid on one or more frames of the video stream displayed on the display device.

Abstract: A method for implementing p2p video communication on webpage includes the following steps: a user accessing a webpage, loading a flash, and a webpage script calling the flash interface to connect to a socket server; the flash connecting to a stratus server to acquire a key and monitoring received messages; the flash sending the user name and the key to the socket server to store; the flash of the source user and the flash of the target user establishing a direct connection by using the key; the source user and the target user acquiring a video source of a local camera respectively, sending the video source to the counterpart through the established connection, and meanwhile, acquiring and displaying the video stream from the counterpart. The not only largely saves the bandwidth cost of the operator, but also greatly improves the smoothness of the video communication between users.

Abstract: In one exemplary embodiment, a computer-implemented method includes receiving a web page with a web browser in a computing device. A jamming trigger term is received from a database stored in the computing device. A targeted age group is also received. The jamming trigger term is located in the web page. An instruction is provided to an audio system of the computing device to play a sound wave at a frequency. The frequency is audible by the targeted age group but not an older age group according to a frequency audibility table. A web scrapping operation can be performed on the web page after the web page is downloaded by the web browser. The targeted age group can be persons eighteen years of age and younger and wherein the frequency comprises a twenty kilo-hertz value (20 kHz).

Abstract: Systems and methods for presenting a content summary of a media item to a user based on a position within the media item are disclosed herein. According to an aspect, a method may include receiving identification of a position within a media item residing on an electronic device. For example, the identified position may be a bookmarked position within an e-book residing on an e-book reader. The method may also include generating a content summary for a portion of the media item based on the identified position. For example, an electronic device may dynamically generate a content summary based on content of the e-book that precedes a bookmarked position. The method may also include presenting the content summary to a user of the electronic device. For example, a display of an electronic device may be controlled to present a content summary to a reader of an e-book.

Abstract: A viewer unit, comprising a shift sequence determination device configured to determine a shift sequence in which display ranges corresponding to the screen size of the display device are shifted sequentially within the page image of the digital comic data, the shift sequence determination device determining the shift sequence to sequentially display the display ranges including the key region on the display device based on the collateral information of the digital comic data; and a display control device configured to sequentially extract the images of each display range from the page image in accordance with the shift sequence of the display ranges determined by the shift sequence determination device and displays the images on the display device.

Abstract: A workflow application allows users to store, manage, and perform tasks related to workflows comprised of ordered sets of documents. The application provides an interface for creating and managing a workflow. Each document added to the workflow is assigned to a particular position in the workflow. Via the interface, the user saves data defining the workflow. In this manner, the workflow may be shared or preserved for subsequent re-use. The application allows a user to perform various tasks with respect to the workflow. Via an interface control presented by the application, the user instigates such tasks. In response, the application causes the task to be performed for each document in the workflow in an order corresponding to the arrangement of the documents within the workflow. For example, the application may render and print each document in the workflow. Or, the application may generate a combined workflow report.

Abstract: Example configurations herein include a media player that initiates playback of content (e.g., play back of a movie in a web browser). Based on input from a respective user, the media player receives selections of playback commands (e.g., play, pause, stop, rewind, fast forward, etc.) applied to the content being played back by the media player. Based on the selections, the media player creates a log report. The log report records the selections of the playback commands applied to the content and indicates, for example, a corresponding time when the playback commands were applied. According to one configuration, the media player initiates distribution of the log report to notify a publisher associated with the content which playback commands were selected during playback of the content on the media player.

Abstract: In the conventional technologies, although the placed comment is displayed according to time or position of the comment placement, the display cannot be executed by varying display form. For example, an entire comment placed for an entire scene of image content or for an entire page of electronic book content, and a partial comment placed for an object in the scene of the image content or a specific character string in the page of the electronic book content are similarly displayed without varying the display form. In order to solve the problems, we provide a content viewing apparatus, where it is determined that a comment placed for content is the entire comment or the partial comment, and if it is the entire comment, the comment is displayed by moving display, and if it is the partial comment, the comment is fixedly displayed in a predetermined area within the display.

Abstract: A document processing system includes a first acquisition section, a storage section, a second acquisition section and a data processor. The first acquisition section acquires a position specified by a user in an actual document. The storage section stores layout data of the document and content data of the document associated with the layout data. The second acquisition section acquires data in the specified position from the content data of the document stored in the storage section, based on the layout data stored in the storage section and the specified position. The data processor processes the data acquired by the second acquisition section.

Abstract: There is provided a system for downloading digital content to a portable media player, the digital content being published in a media channel by a content creator. The system may reside on a server accessible via the Internet. The system may comprise: a data receiver module to receive the digital content from the media channel via a communication medium; a conversion module to convert the received digital content to at least one format for consumption by the player; and a download module to copy the at least one file to the portable media player. The system may further comprise a player detection module to detect file formats compatible with the portable media player. A corresponding method is also disclosed.

Abstract: Among other disclosed subject matter, a computer program product is tangibly embodied in a tangible program carrier and includes instructions that when executed by a processor perform a method. The method includes obtaining a plurality of layouts generated from video content, each of the layouts comprising a visual summary of the video content at a respective zoom level, each visual summary including a plurality of frames selected from the video content and blended into the corresponding layout without borders between the frames. The method includes creating an animation between the plurality of layouts so that a user can zoom continuously between the zoom levels to view the visual summaries of the video content.

Abstract: This disclosure describes systems, methods, and computer program products for presenting interactive content for digital books. In some implementations, a graphical user interface (GUI) is presented that allows a user to view and interact with content embedded in a digital book. The interactive content can include, but is not limited to, text, image galleries, multimedia presentations, video, HTML, animated and static diagrams, charts, tables, visual dictionaries, review questions, three-dimensional (3D) animation and any other known media content. For example, various touch gestures can be used by the user to move through images and multimedia presentations, play video, answer review questions, manipulate three-dimensional objects, and interact with HTML.

Abstract: Systems, methods and apparatus for collecting data and presenting media to a user are provided. The systems generally includes a data gathering module associated with an electronic device. The data gathering module communicates gathered data to a management module, which manages at least one user profile based on the gathered data. The management module may select media for presentation to a user based on the user profile, and the selected media may be displayed to the user via a media output device co-located with the user, such as a display of the user's mobile electronic device or a television, computer, billboard or other display co-located with the user. Related methods are also provided.

The user can thus be efficiently presented with additional information that is relevant to the original document being read.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for cross-platform rendering of video content on a user-computing platform. A script is transmitted to the user-computing platform and is interpreted by an application program compiled to operate on any one of a plurality of user-computing platform types. A series of frame images is encoded to provide encoded video data. Encoding frame images comprises encoding the frame images into a content-transfer format whereby the content-transfer encoded frame images can be passed by a script interpreter interpreting the script to the application program. The encoded video data is transmitted to the user-computing platform. The script is further configured to cause the script to be interpreted by the application program to: decode the transmitted encoded video data into decoded video data comprising the content-transfer encoded frame images; and render the decoded video data by displaying the frame images.

A set of one or more pairwise equivalences between the current state and the prior state of the event-driven application are determined with respect to each client-tier environment. A set of one or more matched portions between the first and second sets of pairwise equivalences is determined. Finally, one or more differences in a first end-user experience in the first client-tier environment are determined with respect to a second end-user experience in the second client-tier environment.

A method may comprise displaying a text caption including one or more blocks of text on each of a first device and a second device remote from the first device. The method may also include generating another block of text and replacing a block of text of the text caption with the another block of text. Furthermore, the method may include displaying the text caption on the second device having the block of text of the first text caption replaced by the another block of text.

Abstract: Technologies are described herein for synchronizing slide show events with audio. Data defining one or more animation events, slide transitions, or visual effects and an audio file to be played during the defined events is received. The audio file is processed to identify the audio events contained therein. Once the audio events in the audio file have been identified, the defined animation events are synchronized to the identified audio events using an audio synchronization scheme that includes data defining how the audio events are to be synchronized to the animation events. A user interface may be provided that allows a user to select an audio synchronization scheme to be applied to a presentation. A user interface may also be provided that allows a user to visually associate an animation event with any audio event identified within an audio file.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for presenting video as at least a portion of the background of search engine home pages are provided. Upon receiving a request for presentation of a search engine home page, a static image is transmitted for presentation as at least a portion of the background for the search engine home page. Also transmitted is a video file. The static image may or may not be associated with the video file. After a predetermined amount of time, play of the video file is initiated without user action, the video file replacing the static image as at least a portion of the background of the search engine home page. In this way, the user receives a seamless transition from a static image to a video presentation and is provided a rich, immersive experience at the search engine home page.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for a user to create an event lander page for a recipient for delivery on-line. The system includes a graphical interface for the user to include text, photo, audio, video, and gift card and to select a future date until when the full content of the page is blocked from viewing by the recipient. The recipient will receive a notification when the page is created, but the recipient can only wait in anticipation because only limited information on the page is viewable before the future date. The notification may be posted on a recipient's social network homepage and thus generate wide publicity among the recipient's friends on the social network. The system may allow the recipient's friends to add their own greetings to the same event lander page. In one application, the event lander page may be used for on-line social greeting and gifting.

The server parses the hypertext document for timeliness tags. The server generates at least one header tag based on the timeliness tags. The server determines whether at least one expired tag is among the timeliness tags. Responsive to a determination that at least one expired tag is among the timeliness tags, the server can look up a timeliness tag rule corresponding to the at least one timeliness tag.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for managing bookmark information of a media server through a network based on the UPnP AV standard is disclosed. If a request for bookmarking a content item is made, a bookmark item is created and the created bookmark item is linked to the content item by adding the ID of the created bookmark item to the property information of the content item and recording the ID of the content item to be bookmarked in the created bookmark item.

Abstract: A system and method for generating a rich web page based at least in part on target data for third party content file is disclosed. The system comprises a targeting module and a graphic user interface module (“GUI module”). The targeting module determines the third party content file for the user generated content file based at least in part on social data describing a user activity. The targeting module retrieves the target data for the third party content file. The GUI module is communicatively coupled to the targeting module for receiving the retrieved target data from the targeting module. The GUI module generates a rich web page for the third party content file based at least in part on the retrieved target data.

Abstract: A method for information delivery is disclosed. The method includes directing the display of a multimedia presentation in a first screen segment. The multimedia presentation is associated with a reference tag descriptive of an aspect thereof. An information link corresponding to the reference tag in a second screen segment is generated. The information link is contextually related to the multimedia presentation in accordance with the reference tag. Thereafter, a selection input of the information link is received from one of the viewers while mitigating obstruction of the displaying of the multimedia presentation. The selected information link and the identity of the viewer are associated as a marker.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable storage media exposing video user interface elements associated with search engine homepages are provided. Upon receiving a request for presentation of a search engine homepage, a video file is transmitted for presentation as the background for the search engine homepage. The video file includes a plurality of sequentially-arranged frames, a portion of which contain the same content, making such portion appear as a static image upon play of the video file, and a portion of which contain content which differs, such that such portion has visually discernable movement upon play of the video file. After a predetermined amount of time, play of the video file is initiated. As only portions of the background content include visually discernable movement, a user's attention is attracted to such portions of the background. Upon user interaction with such portions, additional information about the background content may be presented.

The cloud-based document link system includes a storage unit configured to store, on a cross-clipboard, at least one first document associated with a first service provided through a first device, an identification unit configured to identify at least one second service linkable with each first document, and a providing unit configured to provide a list of each second service in response to an access of the cross-clipboard through a second device, and to provide the second device with a second document associated with the at least one second service in response to a selection of the at least one second service.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for managing bookmark information of a media server through a network based on the UPnP AV standard is disclosed. Abstract: A mobile wireless communications device includes a processor cooperating with a wireless transceiver for displaying on a display a linking web page including a plurality of introductory content portions of linked web articles having hyperlinks associated therewith. User selection of a corresponding hyperlink for a given linked web article is permitted via at least one input device. Content of the given linked web article is searched to determine a remaining content portion after the introductory content portion. At least part of the remaining content portion is displayed on the display.
