Abstract: Provided are a menu navigation method using a user interface (UI), an apparatus and UI having a menu navigation function, and a computer readable recording medium having recorded thereon a program for executing the menu navigation method. The menu navigation method includes: displaying a first screen on which at least one menu item is arranged based on an arc type line; and when a menu item is selected based on the first screen, displaying the selected menu item on an inner side of the arc type line and displaying a second screen on which at least one menu item is arranged on an outer side of the arc type line, wherein the at least one menu item of the second screen is at least one lower layer menu item of the selected menu item.

Abstract: An operation monitoring apparatus capable of displaying right click menus varying in configuration from each other according to a select object on an operation-monitoring screen is realized. The operation monitoring apparatus comprises an object file holding means for holding a plurality of individual menu definition files registered under object names, respectively, having menu items defined on an object-by-object basis, in an object displayed on an operation-monitoring screen, the object being a target for display on a right click menu screen, a retrieval means for acquiring information on the object name of the object subjected to right click on the operation-monitoring screen, and retrieving the object file holding means 300, thereby extracting the individual menu definition file registered under the object name, and a screen display means for acquiring information on the individual menu definition file as extracted, and displaying the right click menu screen on the operation-monitoring screen.

Abstract: A display device includes a display, a user interface to receive command signals, and a controller to control display of information. The controller to controls display of a first screen identifying a plurality of content providers, setting of a content provider based on a selection signal, display of a second screen corresponding to the set content provider. The second screen is displayed in response to a command signal corresponding to a predetermined mode of operation. Display of the second screen bypasses display of the first screen when the command signal corresponding to the predetermined mode of operation is received. Benefit information that includes may also be received when the content provider is set.

Abstract: A user interface for performing load analysis on various geometries is provided. The user interface is especially useful for performing load analysis operations on mobile platforms, for example an aircraft. The user interface includes an object display that lists a plurality of load objects that include object data. A plurality of menu displays list a plurality of load operations. A data display displays the object data associated with the plurality of load objects.

Abstract: Techniques and tools are described for notifications of events, such as receipt of messages, and specifically to tools and techniques related to breakthrough notification profile and status. For example, it is determining whether a profile is active and whether a contact associated with an event is identified as having a status related to the profile. If the profile is active, a notification related to the event is issued only if the sender has the status. If the profile is not active, the notification is issued whether or not the sender has the status.

Abstract: A method of operating an entertainment system having a user interface including a plurality of menus may include computer-implemented steps. Steps may include receiving a menu selection via the user interface. The menu selection may be associated with a menu. The menu may be displayed on the user interface in response to receiving the menu selection. The menu selection may be stored for subsequent retrieval. A key (or button) may be associated with the stored menu selection such that activating the key causes the menu associated with the stored menu selection to be retrieved and displayed on the user interface.

Abstract: A user interface for an audio/visual device incorporates one or both of a touch sensor having a touch surface on which is defined a racetrack surface having a ring shape and a display element on which is displayed a racetrack menu also having a ring shape, and where the user interface incorporates both, the ring shapes of the racetrack surface and the racetrack menu are structured to generally correspond such that the position of a marker on the racetrack menu is caused to correspond to the position at which a digit of a user's hand touches the racetrack surface.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to an electronic device and a method thereof for managing an application menu structure. The application menu structure includes a main menu having a list of main options. The electronic device includes a display module, a calculation module, and a display module. The calculation module calculates usage frequency of each of the main options. The disposition module disposes one of the main options having greatest usage frequency at the center of the display module and disposes another one of the main options having a non-greatest usage frequency to surround the one of the main options of the greatest frequency on the display module.

Abstract: This disclosure describes, generally, methods and systems for implementing application agnostic UI integration. Aspects of the invention relates to a generic architecture and a framework, which leverage the capabilities of a middleware server and application integration concepts, to support launching a User Interface (UI) of any target application from any source application. The source application can invoke, for example, a HTTP get request or fires a HTTP post to the target application, and the same interaction can take place while returning control back from target application to source application. Additionally, the target application can invoke a service hosted on the source application to return the control back to source application.

Abstract: Disclosed are an image forming apparatus and a menu select and display method thereof. A select and display method of a menu which is displayed on a (touch) screen of an image forming apparatus, the method includes: displaying an initial screen including at least one menu list to perform at least one of functions of the image forming apparatus; selecting one of the displayed menu lists by touch; and displaying in the selected menu area a first subordinate menu corresponding to the menu area to set an option for the selected menu without converting the remaining menus. With this, an image forming apparatus and a menu select and display method thereof selectively converts a selected menu area only and displays a subordinate menu to set an option for the menu to thereby reduce a load arising from the conversion and returning of the overall screen and reduces user's inconvenience.

The method includes detecting an input of at least one of control keys provided at a predetermined area on the image display device and displaying a control key OSD corresponding to the at least one control key, receiving an input of one of the control keys while the control key OSD is displayed and changing the displayed control key OSD to select key OSDs for selecting menu items corresponding to the inputted control key, and displaying the select key OSDs.

Abstract: An improved food storage device for holding food items in a controlled environment, typically heated, is disclosed. The device can hold different foods under different conditions for different amounts of time. Among the improvements is an intuitive programming interface. The device may be programmed by selecting different options displayed on different displays associated with different specific food storage positions by pressing a button associated with the display displaying the option. The device may have synchronized displays allowing users to more quickly assimilate displayed information.

Abstract: A task navigator or system generates a navigation interface display. In illustrated embodiments, the navigation interface display includes multiple task segments and a find segment. Tasks are segmented in the navigation interface based upon whether they are primary or secondary tasks.

Abstract: An electronic device is provided. The electronic device includes an input unit, a display unit and a storage unit. The storage unit stores a product function list and a plurality of UI profile files. Each of the UI profile files defines one display format. A UI (user interface, UI) establishing module activates a function of the electronic device for establishing a UI. A product function list loading module loads the product function list from the storage unit. A product function list parsing module parses the loaded product function list. A user interface profile file loading module selectively loads the UI profile file from the storage unit. A user interface generation module displays the parsed product function list on the display unit according to the display format of the selective UI profile file, and links the generated menu interfaces to generate a series of user interfaces.

Abstract: A method of presenting media content is disclosed that includes providing a first view including multiple image cells to a destination device of a first user, where at least one cell of the multiple image cells includes an image. The method further includes automatically collecting a second image from a third party website associated with a second user and providing a second view to the destination device. The second view includes the multiple image cells having the image and includes the second image.

Abstract: A computing system for providing a user interface control to modify properties of items within a main application window. The computing system has a main application window, a gallery control window, a control object selection processing module, and a control object focus processing module. The main application window contains one or more application items, each application item having one or more control properties affecting a behavior of the application item. The gallery control window contains a list of one or more control objects for modifying control properties of the application items located within the main application window. Each of the control objects in the list of control objects includes a graphical icon having a selection portion and a properties portion and one or more control properties that affect one or more items within the main application window.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide techniques for displaying hierarchy information. In one embodiment, a graphical user interface (“GUI”) is provided that displays hierarchy information, the displayed information comprising multiple nodes and hierarchical relationships between the nodes. Different sets of information may be associated with one or more of the displayed nodes. Techniques are provided to enable a user to individually change the set of information displayed in one or more of the displayed nodes. In this manner, a user is able to change the set and/or category of information displayed for one or more selected nodes. More specifically, different sets and/or categories of information contained in the nodes are displayed based on the view selected by the user. In an embodiment, a user is able to choose which nodes need to change the view levels. There are other features in the graphical interface as well.

Abstract: A method and system for providing a graphical user interface with contextual views. In various embodiments, the present invention provides a graphical user interface that allows the changing contents of a global menu in the graphical display based upon the selected nodes that belong to a hierarchical chart. Only those actions applicable (contextual) to the selected nodes will be determined and displayed in the menu. Accordingly, the contents of the selectable options are updated based upon the selected nodes. When more than one node is selected, the displayed selectable actions are an intersection of the actions permitted for each selected node. In a specific embodiment, a comparison menu is provided to allow the user to be able to compare unique corresponding properties of selected nodes.

Abstract: A productivity software application in which a user chooses actions, from at least one of a menu bar, a tool bar, or a task pane, runs on a computer. While running the productivity software application, the computer monitors actions chosen by the user. Data is generated that represents a navigation menu. The navigation menu includes a limited set of choices based on previous actions chosen by the user in the productivity software application. The computer outputs the data representing the navigation menu for visual display, and receives input indicative of a user choice from the limited set of choices in the navigation menu.

Each of the command descriptions has one or more properties and represents an instance of one of the commands. One or more command group descriptions for one or more command groups are received. Each of the command group descriptions has one or more properties, represents an instance of one of the command groups at a level in a group hierarchy, and specifies one or more group members. Each of the group members represents a derived instance of one of the commands or a derived instance of one of the command groups. Properties of each derived instance of a command and each derived instance of a command group inherit properties from one or more ancestor instances.

Abstract: The present invention is a system that positions an interface for a pen-based computer at an end of a natural user motion arc, such as an arc a hand travels when an elbow is pivoted. Positioning of the interface in a lower corner of a display or window (left corner for a right-handed person and right corner for a left-handed person) allows easy approach when the user is working in the center of the display, such as when drawing on the pen-based computer display. An arc or curved interface improves approach zones and reduces unintended selections of controls or buttons within the interface. The arc allows the natural motion to be extended by wrist or finger motions to access all the controls in the corner command interface. Controls on the arc are placed to allow any underlying pop-up menus to be completely accessible when an activated. Overflow menu items of activated controls of the interface are located in conformity to the natural arc.

Abstract: A method for recording a display-independent computerized guidance script, the method comprising capturing a screenshot of a GUI of a computerized application, analyzing an area, in the screenshot, surrounding a determined cursor position, to identify a GUI control, recording a manual operation sequence of the computerized application, and assigning the GUI control to a step of the operation sequence.

Abstract: In a cursor-based computing environment generating a display, a user-definable interface is configured by a user and activated when needed by a user, wherein the user-definable interface comprises a plurality of buttons. Functions of the buttons are selectable by the user according to his preferences. These preferences may be derived from applications or by functions selected exclusively by the user. An application (ZTool) is also described, this application allowing configuration of a display in accordance with predetermined parameters. These parameters may be related to data base access functions or other types of data access, including logistical support.

Abstract: A system and method for creating online advertising economies of scale by maximizing quantity, applicability, accessibility and distribution of advertisements on a webpage that includes providing a tool to reside on a webpage that presents a first tier of data to a user. Upon the user selecting one of the first tier of data, the tool may expand from a passive footprint to an active footprint presenting a second tier of data in the expanded area. The expanded area includes a first and a second frame, such that, upon selection of one of the second tier of data in either the first or second frames, third tier data overwrites the second tier data in the frame opposite the frame selected by the user. The user is then able to continue alternatingly drilling down through the frames to obtain the data desired, including integrated related advertisement in various media formats.

Abstract: Methods for generating an embedded target image to be stored in a non-volatile memory device of an embedded system as firmware thereof are disclosed. A graphical user interface (GUI) editor is generated to facilitate a user in providing settings information for multiple pins of a chip installed in the embedded system. Abstract: The present invention discloses a solution for using menu position indicators to accurately show where an intelligently placed menu will appear. Positioning of menus can automatically vary in the solution depending upon available screen space and an origin point for the menu. A menu position indicator can include a graphical image capable of indicating a direction of the menu appearance, such as an arrow or triangle. The menu position indicator for a menu can change depending upon a position of an origin point and depending upon available screen space for displaying the associated menu. When a position of a main menu changes, calculations can be performed to determine where a submenu of the main menu will be presented, and the menu position indicator can be adjusted accordingly.

Abstract: A method and associated system is provided for providing an interactive checklist and collaborative shopping session. The method includes displaying desired items on an interactive checklist. A primary user may designate which users can view specific items and should purchase specific items. The method also includes the option for the primary user to send an email to a secondary user with information, extracted from a checklist or registry, with a wish list of items that the recipient can buy with a click to a shopping cart. The primary user may also initiate a real-time or static collaborative shopping session where multiple users can suggest, comment on and purchase items. In response to detecting a first command association input by a user on the touch screen display, the device associates a first icon from the source region with a first directory management command icon in the command region. In response to detecting a first command performance input that includes selecting a first folder icon in the destination region, the device performs a directory management operation on a folder or file that corresponds to the first icon. The directory management operation is in accordance with the first directory management command icon and the selected first folder in the destination region.

Abstract: A map-oriented report-and-response integrated method is provided. The method comprises displaying a multi-dimensional information menu, wherein the multi-dimensional menu has at least a first menu having several organization options, a second menu having several topic options and a third menu having several task options. Further, one of the organization options is selected and one of the topic options is selected. Then, a content of each of the task options is changed according to the selected organization option and the selected topic option. Moreover, a positioning information is received and a map relating to the positioning information is displayed. Also, a report case is established by receiving a positioning report signal including a positioning point from the map. A maintenance work is performed at an actual location corresponding to the positioning point and then an image record of the actual location is recorded and uploaded to relate to the report case.

The interface is typically linked to a database comprising stored image and other information which corresponds to the selectable characteristics, whereby an image that corresponds to an item which meets a selected characteristic is retrieved and displayed. Information other than the image which corresponds to the selectable characteristics may also be retrieved and displayed. In some embodiments, the stored images comprise a single image, which matches all the selected characteristics. In alternate embodiments, the displayed image comprises a composite image that is based upon stored images which correspond to different selected characteristics. In some embodiments, the user selection interface comprises a graphic user interface.

Abstract: Computer-implemented systems and methods are provided for reducing a number of options presented to a user where the options have characteristics that are arranged in a multi-dimensional hierarchical space. A system and method can be configured to identify common dimensions using dimension nodes in dimensional points and identify compatible nodes for each dimension in the multi-dimensional hierarchical space by determining whether an association exists. Compatible pairs of surviving points are generated after applying each of the compatible nodes from the common dimensions. Greatest lower bounds (GLBs) are computed for each of the generated compatible points, and a set of options is generated comprising points from the generated compatible points and the computed GLBs.

A preview is generated of the second display based upon the first display's visual indicator receiving focus.

Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein include systems and methods which allow for the creation of online surveys in which thematically-related questions are grouped together as meta-questions to reduce the perceived and/or actual time and effort needed to complete the survey. Further disclosed embodiments provide the ability to provide a summary display of survey response data in an aggregate format such as a sentence (or pseudo-sentence) which summarizes answers given to a series of thematically related questions.

Abstract: Particular embodiments provide a toolbar menu that includes one or more options that are valid for an object. A hot-key input is received that indicates a request for the toolbar menu. The request may be received while a user is using an application, such as a text editing application. The hot-key may be received from one or more keys on a keyboard and the request is associated with the object, which may be highlighted text. One or more options are determined that are valid for the object. For example, the application may be queried to determine which options are valid for the object. A toolbar menu is then displayed that includes the valid options. A selection from the user of one of the options causes an action for the option to be performed.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention pertain to, but are not limited to, browsing a displayed listing of stored audio content such as music in a music player, PC, or portable electronic device, including MP3 players and mobile phones. Various embodiments of the present invention recognize that to improve the user's browsing experience, the user's selections from the listing should be accompanied by audio effects specifically configured to facilitate the corresponding content navigation. For example, the effects could be that as the currently selected item in the listing changes, an excerpt of the music track (or of a member of the group of music tracks) in the new item (i.e., “new currently-selected” item) in the listing is played with 3D audio effects such that the position from which the music track appears to be playing is in symphony with the new item's movement on the user interface.

Abstract: A software tool automatically places files and folders of a software program within segments of a DVD. The segments are defined by security placeholders, and the disposition of the placeholders is initially randomly determined, consistent with predefined rules. The placeholders are included on the disc to hinder unauthorized copying. A developer generally defines the order in which the files and folders are to be laid out, and the software tool automatically places the files and folders, filling successive segments and shifting the placeholders to accommodate files that will not fit in a current segment. However, any movement of the placeholders must be done by the tool and is only permitted if the new disposition of the placeholder is in accord with the predefined rules. A user can manually modify the automated layout, and in response, the files and folders are automatically shifted to accommodate the changes introduced by the user.
