Abstract: A method of displaying and navigating information using a hierarchical, spring loaded DHTML menu system that adjusts to fit the boundaries of a resizable, container. A set of standard HTML table row elements, having a hierarchical dependency, is consistently displayed as a web-page, under reasonable resizing. This is done using a strut row that produces the largest width requirement when the table structure is resizing to occupy a small width. Only the current row elements and the strut element are required in calculating table resizing to ensure that whichever data elements are displayed when a web-page resizing occurs, the browser auto-layout algorithm calculations will result in a resize attributes that enables all other row elements of that menu to be accommodated by the newly determined table width. As the row elements may themselves be table structures, nested menus of information may be displayed and navigated.

Abstract: A method for navigating an interactive menu including a first number of selectable items in a virtual environment. The method includes: providing a grid on a delimited portion of a plane in the virtual environment, the grid including locations equal to the first number; providing plural navigation directions within the grid and arranging each menu item on a respective location of the grid according to an item-grid arrangement, adjacencies along the navigation directions among grid items determine corresponding adjacency relationships; determining adjacency relationships along the navigation directions among items located on borders of the delimited portions; shooting a first item in close-up, enabling its selection; receiving a navigation command identifying a navigation direction along which a second selectable item is located, and altering the item-grid arrangement to relocate the items in different grid locations based on the received navigation command to shoot the second item in close-up.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are a display device, which can control a user interface being displayed by a user's gaze and touch input, and a controlling method thereof and a controlling method of the same. The method for controlling the display device includes a hierarchical user interface and also includes displaying at least one control interface, detecting a user's gaze selecting one of the displayed control interface, transmitting information for providing a portable device with a sub-control interface of the control interface selected by the user's gaze, to the portable device, and receiving a control signal respective to the selected control interface from the portable device, and executing the received control signal. Herein, the portable device may provide the sub-control interface to a user with tactile feedback, may generate the control signal in accordance with a detected touch input, and may transmit the generated control signal to the display device.

Abstract: The present invention provides an interaction device including an interaction interface, where a display area is formed of multiple display boundaries among which a corner area is formed between every two adjacent display boundaries; an interface interaction unit, for generating two first boundaries at a position that is corresponding to at least one corner area in the display area, where the two first boundaries and corner sides display boundaries form a main menu selection area which includes a selectable object; a processing unit, configured to, when the selectable object in the main menu selection area is selected and moves towards a position where any one of the two first boundaries is located and the selected selectable object crosses over a predetermined position, replace the selected selectable object in the main menu selection area with predetermined upper level selectable objects or lower level selectable objects correlated to the selected selectable object.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and system for managing and displaying multimedia contents, more specifically to a method and system which allows grouping multimedia contents into multimedia containers provided with a cover such that the transitions of the different multimedia contents of the multimedia container can be performed quickly and intuitively since the multimedia contents associated with the multimedia container the cover of which has been selected is displayed on the different faces of a polyhedron after selecting the cover of one of the multimedia containers. Said polyhedron can be a parallelepiped such as a cube, allowing the transition of the multimedia contents on the different faces of the cube by means of rotating the cube on its different axes.

Abstract: Computer-implemented systems and methods are provided for reducing a number of options presented to a user where the options have characteristics that are arranged in a multi-dimensional hierarchical space. A system and method can be configured to identify common dimensions using dimension nodes in dimensional points and identify compatible nodes for each dimension in the multi-dimensional hierarchical space by determining whether an association exists. Compatible pairs of surviving points are generated after applying each of the compatible nodes from the common dimensions. Greatest lower bounds (GLBs) are computed for each of the generated compatible points, and a set of options is generated comprising points from the generated compatible points and the computed GLBs.

Abstract: Systems and methods for control of a split mode command button are disclosed. The method includes displaying a button to a user, the button including a primary function area incorporating a primary function available for immediate selection and a secondary function area incorporating a drop-down menu of at least one secondary function. The method further includes accepting a selection of a secondary function and executing the secondary function. The method also includes updating the button such that the secondary function is associated with the primary function area and the primary function is associated with the secondary function area and displaying the updated split mode command button to a user.

Abstract: Some embodiments provide a method of presenting several user interface (UI) controls for editing images. Upon receiving a selection of an image to edit, the method displays the image in a display area for displaying edits to the image. At a first location, the method receives input to activate a UI tool includes the several UI tools. In response to the input, the method displays, at a second location, a fanning animation that fans the several UI controls from a fanned closed layout to a fanned open layout.

Abstract: Disclosed are an image forming apparatus and a menu select and display method thereof. A select and display method of a menu which is displayed on a (touch) screen of an image forming apparatus, the method includes: displaying an initial screen including at least one menu list to perform at least one of functions of the image forming apparatus; selecting one of the displayed menu lists by touch; and displaying in the selected menu area a first subordinate menu corresponding to the menu area to set an option for the selected menu without converting the remaining menus. With this, an image forming apparatus and a menu select and display method thereof selectively converts a selected menu area only and displays a subordinate menu to set an option for the menu to thereby reduce a load arising from the conversion and returning of the overall screen and reduces user's inconvenience.

The interface pops up at the current position of the cursor when the space bar is held down. The menu bars are positioned around a central marking zone with the common menu bars located above the central zone and task specific menu bars located below the central zone. The common application menu bar is positioned outer most and the common window menu bar is located inner most. The menu bars are sized in a “stair-step” pattern and the commands therein are left and right justified to fill the menu bar evenly. The menu bar menu items are accessed just like menu bar items typically found at the top of windows. The menu bars mimic the menu bars that a user may need to use during tasks that users typically perform using the menu bars found in application windows.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for inputting data entries of a service for use with a portable electronic device having a touch screen. By detecting a continuous stroke moving on the touch screen to select desired items among multiple levels of menus which are displayed in a sequence for an object targeting to a service, the data entries according to the selected items are committed for the object when the continuous stroke ends. In addition, multiple items can be selected in one level of menu by using a pre-defined stroke indication in the continuous stroke. Furthermore, the selected items can be corrected by re-stroking back to the corresponding levels of menus.

Abstract: This disclosure describes embodiments of systems and methods for performing inspections of an asset. The systems can include an inspection apparatus that executes a menu directed inspection (MDI) protocol to direct an inspector that performs the inspection. The MDI protocol includes, in one example, reference material that is associated with areas of the asset that the inspector will inspect. This reference material can include data and information (e.g., technical manuals, operating manuals, images, etc.). In one embodiment, the method includes one or more steps for building an inspection tree with inspection points that correspond to the inspection areas on the asset. The method can also comprise steps for assigning or associating the reference material to inspection points, which is then available to the inspector on the inspection apparatus during execution of the MDI protocol.

The first field lists a focal item and the at least one additional field contains a listing of items related to the focal item. Certain of the related items in the at least one additional field include a hyperlink which, when activated by the user, causes the item corresponding to the activated hyperlink to become a new focal item listed in the first field, such that the at least one additional field transitions to list items related to the new focal item. The focal item may be, for example, an identifier corresponding to a company, and the at least one additional field may contain a listing of identifiers corresponding to companies that are customers, suppliers or competitors of the focal item company.

Abstract: Method and apparatus facilitate browsing of web pages or other electronic content stored over a network of remote and/or local storage devices. Browsing is performed without repeated intermediary clicking and page downloads. Pre-browsing of the category structure is provided via rolling the cursor from category to category, and level to level, to view each category's sub-categories, without clicking on a category or downloading web-page(s) linked to the category. When the user selects the content linked to a particular category, the user invokes the link-token corresponding to the content to retrieve the content. A dynamic tracking-string with an embedded one-click nested/cascading category browsing apparatus facilitates returning and/or changing path during browsing and examination of electronic media, and allows the user to review more than one path along the category structure while the browser is at a page linked to any category at any level.

Abstract: A design application can provide a mechanism for quickly and intuitively designing wireframes by automatically generating containers and margins. For example, a graphical user interface can be provided in which a parent container is defined and surrounded by a boundary (“wirebox”), which may (or may not) include margins defined between the wirebox and container perimeter. Responsive to input data representing a user gesture, such as clicking and dragging at a wirebox boundary, the parent container can be divided into two or more containers. An override function is provided to minimize trapping of the cursor within the activation area. Abstract: Systems and methods for providing custom video mosaic pages are provided. The custom pages may be locally-generated, remotely-generated, or partially locally-generated and partially remotely-generated. The custom pages may include local content, such as content recorded to a digital video recorder (DVR), overlaid on a multi-video composite feed. A local compositing system may render the mosaic pages and dynamically customize the pages based on user profile data, user preferences, and active user monitoring.

When the input type is a hover input, a menu expand function is executed. The select function causes a selection of the at least one menu item of the electronic map of the map navigation application.

Icons representing actions performable on an object are displayed in a context menu for the object. Additional aspects of the invention include cascading menus that also minimize hand and/or wrist motion, as well as placement of menus based on user handedness and/or stylus orientation.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a chemistry and physics calculator for helping a user to solve chemistry and physics problems. The calculator does more than calculating numbers or solving equations; rather, the calculator includes an adaptable menu and sub-menu system that helps a user analyze a problem, determine the type of the problem, and helps a user choose equations that are needed to solve the problem. The calculator includes at least some of these topics: balancing equations, stoichiometry, gas laws, equilibrium, dimension analysis, electrochemistry, electricity, Newton laws, thermodynamics, properties of matter, mirrors and lenses, Ohm's law, and Kirchhoff's Law. Additionally, the calculator prompts users to input units for variables, performs unit analysis, and displays results with units. The invention can be implemented as a handheld calculator, as a computer program, or as a program for a handheld device such as a smart phone.
