Abstract: A cutter for repeatedly cutting identical size pieces from a larger sheet of a semi-brittle and semi-rigid material includes an outer jaw affixed to a base and an inner jaw affixed to an arm that is resiliently connected to the base. The upper jaw includes a non-planar cutting edge that initiates the cut simultaneously at two locations located respectively on the right and left sides of the inner jaw and approximately midway between the front and rear of the inner jaw so as to produce a progressive scissors-like cutting action that proceeds simultaneously both forwardly and rearwardly from the aforesaid two locations and continues along the desired path.
Abstract: A manual cutting apparatus for simulating an automatic strand pelletizing operation has mechanisms for simultaneously feeding and cutting plastic strands to enable the simulation of automatic circular cutters.
Abstract: A circular saw comprises a machine structure, a gearbox, a motor-driven circular saw blade rotationally mounted on the gearbox and a pivot shaft on which the gearbox is pivotably supported. The pivot shaft is firmly connected at one end to the machine structure and is mounted at the other end in two brackets which form an angle between them. Each of these brackets is adjustable by means of an eccentric bearing rotatably mounted on the machine structure in such a way as to allow adjustment of the pivot shaft and with it the circular saw blade in the direction of two coordinates.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for shaping a solid body of soft material wherein the body is notched on one side, a rough cutter moves inwardly through the other side of the body to enter the closed end of the notch and sever body material without breaking, and a finish cutter than removes relatively little material to produce a finish cut.
Abstract: A device for severing a body part of slaughtered poultry in which use is made of a cutting element provided with a cutting edge in which the desired cutting place is positioned relative to the cutting edge by at least one positioning member coupled thereto and is subsequently cut through by the cutting edge moving relative to the bird.
Abstract: Apparatus for effectively and efficiently cutting and bending rods, used for instance in lintels, footers, and slabs, comprising a portable workbench having suitably secured on the table thereof bending and cutting assemblies, hydraulic power cylinders for actuating the assemblies, and suitable controls for ease of operation of the assemblies. The cutting assembly includes a stationary cutter disposed in a vertical position on the table top adapted to be engaged by a vertical rotatably moved cutter for the shearing of rods with the rods disposed in horizontal position on the table top. The bending assembly includes a pair of vertically mounted spaced apart cylindrical members or posts with one of said members rotatably mounted in the table top such that rotation of said one member with a rod disposed between said member is effective to bend the rod.
Abstract: Apparatus for forming arcuate corners on a vitreous sheet, the apparatus including a support for a vitreous sheet, a pair of carriages mounted above the support for relative movement so that the spacing between the carriages can be adjusted, a pair of scoring heads each mounted for arcuate movement beneath a respective carriage, and a mechanism connected for driving the heads in order to score corners of a vitreous sheet located on the support.
Abstract: A cutting or shaping mechanism is described in which the cutting or pressing force is applied to a moving blade or shaping assembly over a limited part of the length of that assembly, including where the assembly is in engagement with the work. The application of the cutting or pressing force is moved progressively along the assembly to cause the assembly to roll on the work and progressively cut or apply pressure to the work. The invention is particularly applicable to a rolling cut shear having a single moving blade assembly or a pair of oppositely curved moving blade assemblies.
Abstract: Disclosed is a handle adapted for grasping by the hand of an operator for operating a pivotable machine part, comprising a thumb supporting member attached to the machine part for supporting the operator's thumb and a grip part connected to the machine part for gripping by the rest of the fingers of the operator's hand. Also disclosed is a microtome embodying this handle.

Abstract: Apparatus for dispensing and selectively cutting lengths of plastic film from a roll. A box-shaped container has side, front, rear, and bottom walls, and a cover hinged adjacent the rear wall. The cover affords access to the container, so that a packaged roll of film may be placed inside with its axis extending between and perpendicular to the side walls. The container has side spacers that normally receive a 4-inch width roll package, and a narrower, 2-inch width roll package may be received for which there are provided extensions for the spacers. The spacers slightly compress the package to provide drag on the roll as it becomes lighter. Disposition of the roll package is such that film may be removed from the upper region of the roll, through a slotted opening between the front wall and the adjacent free edge of the closed cover.
Abstract: In a hand-operated punching device such as that incorporated with a stapler to enable the same both to staple and perforate sheets of paper or the like, an improved punch element is provided which is movable into and out of a hole in a die for perforation. The punch element has three or more sharp-edged cutting teeth formed peripherally on one end thereof in order to improve the perforating or cutting ability of the device. The axis of the pivot pin connecting the base, lever and staple magazine lies in a plane extending transversely to the longitudinal axis of the punch element intermediate between the distal end thereof and a location thereon to which the punch element is allowed to advance relative to the inlet of the hole. Numerous variations are possible in the structural details of the punch element.
Abstract: Disclosed is a machine for manufacturing wood stakes from boards, preferably from lengths of 2.times.4's or 2.times.6's. The machine is adjustable to provide stakes of virtually any length. The machine consists of two stations, the first station comprising a reciprocally movable carriage for holding a plurality of boards, a saw or other cutting means which cuts on a plane parallel to the direction of travel of the carriage, an endless conveyor to receive the slice of wood cut from at least one board thereon as the carriage passes the saw, another endless conveyor engagable with the carriage for moving the carriage in a reciprocating manner, and a second station comprising a second saw which is mounted to cut transversely to the direction of travel of the slice of board, and means to present the slice of wood to the second saw in order to bisect same.
Abstract: The invention relates to cutters, and provides a cutter comprising a base and a cutting-blade carrying arm. The base and the arm may be parts of a one-piece plastic molding which incorporates a connection between the base and the arm, which connection permits movement of the arm relative to the base during the cutting action. The arm may carry at least one flexible member which engages the material to be cut prior to engagement of the material by the cutting blade, whereby the material is restrained from movement during the cutting action.
Abstract: The present application discloses a die cutter assembly which includes in combination a plurality of flat wood layers which support a steel rule die for cutting paper such as cardboard and like material. Metal hinge members are secured to opposed sides of the flat wood layers and each hinge member has a portion which overhangs the wood layers. A pivot member extends from each overhanging portion. A cover is provided which is capable of moving between a closed and an open position and this cover member comprises a flat surface which is adapted to engage the steel rule die for cutting paper interposed between the steel rule die and the flat surface of the cover member. The cover member has four downturned edges to fit around the top edge of the wood layers in the closed position of the cover member.
