  • Patent number: 5900303
Abstract: A fastener assembly for being molded into a foamed structure. The fastener assembly includes a base having first and second opposed major surfaces, first and second opposed ends, and first and second opposed side edges. A multiplicity of attachment members are carried by the base and extend outwardly from the first major surface of the base for mating with complementary attachment members. First and second spaced-apart end seals are attached to respective first and second opposed ends of the base for preventing intrusion of liquid foam past the ends of the base and onto the attachment members during molding of the structure. Each of the end seals defines a solid mass within which the attachment members are embedded. A multiplicity of spaced-apart anchors are carried by the base, and extend outwardly from the second major surface of the base for permanently attaching the fastener assembly to the foamed structure.

  • Patent number: 5882781
Abstract: A method of producing a shaped fibrous fabric structure is similar to that described in the parent application, in that a continuous filament sheet is subjected to a needle punching action, segments are cut from the sheet and these segments are assembled to form an annulus, and then subjected to rotary motion under a reciprocating needling head and continuing to add segments to build up a stack of layers whilst at the same time continuing the needling action, and lowering the base of the stack relatively to the needling head. However, in a final step, one or more layers of segments are added to the top of the stack, and these are needled into the stack without lowering the stack. Furthermore, these additional layers are preferably made entirely of stapled fibres.

  • Patent number: 5873534
Abstract: A cutter tooth holder assembly is adapted for attaching a cutter tooth having a plurality of spaced cutting tips to a rotatable cutter drum. The tooth holder assembly includes a base for being mounted to an outer peripheral surface of the cutter drum. The base has a tooth-locking, circumferentially-extending groove formed in its top surface. A tooth holder is positioned in the tooth-locking groove, and has a front bearing surface residing adjacent a back end of the cutter tooth. The cutter tooth is arranged such that one of the cutting tips resides in the tooth-locking groove to prevent rotational movement of the cutter tooth during operation of the cutter drum, while an opposed second one of the cutting tips resides in a cutting position relative to the outer surface of the drum. An elongate, threaded bolt cooperates with the tooth holder for attaching the cutter tooth to the tooth holder assembly.
