  • Patent number: 4757881
Abstract: A chain brake which is manually adjustable into a cocked position and releasable by means of stored electric energy and a trigger, includes a permanent magnet circuit in which a movable armature is a part of a latch which keeps the brake in the cocked position. The permanent magnet has a coil exerting a counter directional magnetic field to the permanent magnet when it passes current. The holding force on the latch decreases and the brake is released when current from a capacitor passes through the coil.

  • Patent number: 4757788
Abstract: An ignition system for an internal combustion engine has one electrode in the cylinder movable with respect to the other, under the control of an external solenoid, or other operable device. The solenoid or other device is actuated, and the current to the electrodes is derived from the collapsing field of an inductor. A diode inhibits other than discharge current of said inductor from flowing to said electrodes.

  • Patent number: 4754721
Abstract: The invention makes it possible to rotate an arm shaft of a sewing machine without a mechanical clutch between the hand wheel and the arm shaft. The position of the hand wheel which previously was very dependent on the mechanical system, can now be chosen so that the best possible ergonometry is obtained. Output of an electronic sensor of the rotation of the hand wheel and another sensor of the movement of the arm shaft are compared in an electronic unit, and as long as there is a difference in the outputs of the sensors the electronic unit will cause driving of the sewing machine motor so that the difference will be zero. The movement of the hand wheel is thus repeated on the arm shaft.

  • Patent number: 4754772
Abstract: In a dish-washing machine the bottom of the washing chamber has an outlet opening which is covered by a filter arrangement comprising a tubular part of a fine sieve. The tubular part is vertically and centrally disposed in a filter housing and extends through the whole housing. Liquid can pass through the tubular part radially in all directions. The lower part of the filter housing is connected to the suction side of a circulation pump by a conduit connected to the side wall of the housing. Further, a shield is disposed between the tubular part of the fine sieve and the filter housing, the shield having a construction and arrangement whereby the pressure drop across the tubular part of the fine sieve will become essentially evenly distributed around its periphery.

  • Patent number: 4754744
Abstract: In a supply system for gas burners, preferably included in a cooker top, gas is supplied to each burner via a separate gas conduit provided with a valve. The gas conduit is supplied from a main conduit which is part of the cooker top and is connected to a gas mains. The gas conduits are contained in an elongated channel, preferably made of metal. The channel is arranged so as in succession to pass all burner positions as well as an area where the valves are situated. Via a coupling each valve is connected to the main conduit and to its respective gas conduit which via a corresponding coupling is connected to the burner.

  • Patent number: 4754948
Abstract: Electric and gas ranges are provided with either projections or openings which, together with corresponding openings and projections on the adjacent wall behind the ranges, cooperate in order to prevent the tipping of the range when the oven door is open and assuming a generally horizontal position, whereby weight is applied to the door of sufficient magnitude to cause the range to tip over unless the corresponding projections and openings are interfitted.

  • Patent number: 4748917
Abstract: A sewing machine in which the bed shaft and the arm shaft have been replaced by a synchronous belt and the plane of rotation of the synchronous belt is perpendicular to the cloth feeding direction. All function units which drive or are driven by the synchronous belt and the belt itself are mounted on the same side of the sewing machine body. A number of backing rollers guide the synchronous belt in the plane of rotation. These backing rollers are on shafts which are either stationary or driving. The shafts are supported by the sewing machine body in rotation or stationary manners. The backing rollers can be smooth or toothed wheels which drive or are driven by the synchronous belt. Some toothed wheels can drive several function units of the sewing machine. By changing the diameter of the toothed wheels in relation to each other the time relation between the several function units of the sewing machine can be controlled.

  • Patent number: 4748713
Abstract: An electric vacuum cleaner has a floor engaging unit, a generally vertically extending handle assembly pivotally affixed to the rear of the floor engaging unit, and a porous bag assembly mounted to the front of the handle assembly. The handle assembly is hollow to direct dust-laden air from the floor engaging unit to the bag assembly. A bottom plate, under the brush roll, has notches at its edges to enhance edge cleaning, and front wheels for the cleaner. Ridges are provided in the floor engaging unit to prevent inproper assembly of the drive belt. The handle assembly is resiliently biased upwardly, and a release is provided thereon to enable relaxation of forces on the porous bag of the porous bag assembly, to facilitate changing of the bag.

  • Patent number: 4741073
Abstract: A compact, collapsible handle attachment for a rectangular carton having rectangular-shaped wire bands which are pivotable or swingable in holes in the handle end blocks. As the weighted carton is lifted, the handle end blocks slip upwardly on one side of the carton while the bight portions of the wire bands more firmly frictionally engage the front edges of the carton to thereby prevent slippage of the handle-holder off the carton when the same is raised.

  • Patent number: 4716860
Abstract: The air inlet of the cooling fan is positioned substantially on top of a motor saw body so that the air is drawn from a region above the saw where the concentration of pollutants is considerably lower than at the usually known inlet through the fan cover. The air inlet is positioned at a distance from the fan cover to provide a connecting channel between the inlet and the fan wheel, in which channel a shunt damper is arranged. The shunt channel enables a balanced mixture of cold outdoor air and warm recirculating inner air so that a proper engine temperature can be effected.

  • Patent number: 4714870
Abstract: An arrangement for controlling an A.C. voltage supplied to a load, such as a fluorescent lamp emitting germicidal ultraviolet radiation in a water-purifying apparatus. The load is connected to the secondary winding of a transformer, the primary winding of which has a number of taps which are selectively connectable to an exterior A.C. voltage source. An electronic control device is arranged in dependence on the magnitude of the terminal voltage of the exterior A.C. voltage source to automatically connect that tap which causes the voltage applied to the load to be of a predetermined value.
