  • Patent number: 4644613
Abstract: A locking slider assembly for a slide fastener includes only a slider body, a locking spring and pull tab. The three components can be automatically assembled substantially without component deformation. In one embodiment, the pull tab includes an eccentric locking spring release bar to effect spring release by rotation of the pull tab in a semi-automatic slider locking mode. In another embodiment, the locking spring is released by pulling of the pull tab in either direction of slide fastener operation and locking of the slide fastener occurs automatically upon release of the pull tab.

  • Patent number: 4643435
Abstract: An arrow for hunting includes a razor-type arrowhead comprising two crossed blades removably insertable within a pair of crossed slots in the forward portion of either a tubular or solid shaft. The forward point of the shaft itself is formed with a reduced diameter threaded tip communicating at its rear with a larger diameter stop shoulder. With the arrowhead fully seated within the shaft slots, a forward shoulder thereon is substantially flush with the shaft stop shoulder such that the subsequent application of an internally threaded point member to the shaft tip, secures the arrowhead against both radial and axial displacement relative the shaft.

  • Patent number: 4642103
Abstract: A syringe mechanism includes a pair of sub-assemblies one of which contains a pair of threaded connector elements. One such connector element slidably surrounds a plunger rod while the other is adapted to surround a tubular barrel of the other sub-assembly. Upon engagement and tightening of the threaded elements, a resilient sleeve disposed intermediate the barrel and its surrounding connector element, is axially fore-shortened or compressed and inwardly displaced to firmly interlock the two sub-assemblies with the forward end of the plunger rod disposed within the barrel.

  • Patent number: 4638557
Abstract: Fabric flypieces are placed randomly on a top plate of a unified flypiece feed apparatus which orients the flypieces and feeds them in succession to a sewing station at which they are united with a zipper chain either in end-to-end abutment or with a slight predetermined gap between the flypieces. A somewhat angled flypiece belt conveyor and a cooperative variable tension drag device above the conveyor orients the flypieces longitudinally and feeds them to the sewing station at a substantially greater speed than the united flypieces and zipper chain leave the sewing station. A photo-optical device senses the presence or absence of flypieces on the top plate and stops the sewing machine if the operator fails to load a flypiece within a predetermined time interval.

  • Patent number: 4639002
Abstract: A wheeled trolley frame for use on an escalator. The frame has two ends and two pairs of ground engaging wheels (2 and 3) respectively positioned one pair adjacent each frame end and spaced apart so that both pairs of wheels cannot sit on a single escalator step tread. First and second escalator tread engaging means (4 and 5) on the frame respectively positioned adjacent the wheel pairs and intermediate the wheel pairs. The tread engaging means are spaced apart so that they cannot rest on the same escalator tread and lie above ground level and are spaced therefrom by a distance such that they will when the trolley frame is mounted on a formed escalator engage on two treads of the escalator and maintain the wheels adjacent the tread engaging means elevated from the escalator step treads.

  • Patent number: 4632151
Abstract: A non-return valve element comprises a one piece moulding of resilient rubber material, for example a synthetic rubber, which is shaped to include a relatively thick and hence rigid planar rib 1 of which the upper edge 1a includes a cylindrical protuberance 2 forming a reinforcement against longitudinal and transverse deflections. The lower edge 1b of the rib has two integral laterally extending wings 3 and 4, each of which is semi-circular in plan. The wings together in planform are circular and are designed to fit a cylindrical bore 5 provided in a fluid flow channel. The bore 5 is delimited from a narrower cross-section bore 6 by means of a shoulder 7 forming a seating for the wings 3 and 4, and an abutment for the ends 8 and 9 of the edge 1b of the rib 1.

  • Patent number: 4632308
Abstract: A rail fastener assembly includes a rail seat laterally shiftable incrementally to properly position a supported rail. Anchoring of the seat to an underlying foundation is achieved by a clamp ring surrounding the periphery of the seat and including a plurality of fastener-receiving openings having their centers variably spaced from the seat. Rotation of the clamp ring presents at least two fastener-receiving openings in overlying registry with hold-down elements in the foundation to enable the application of fasteners through the clamp ring to secure the seat to the foundation. A pair of symmetrical spring clips engage shoulders on the seat and include a medial hold-down portion biased against the rail flanges and fixed, distal shoulder engaging portions overlying each rail flange but normally spaced thereabove to limit deflection of the clips during vertical movement of the rail.

  • Patent number: 4630677
Abstract: A system for recovering contaminating hydrocarbon fluid product from below ground includes water and product withdrawal pipes disposed within a well and connected to pumps adapted to remove water and product respectively. Admixture of the two fluids is precluded by the inclusion of a separator tube surrounding the water withdrawal pipe and having its bottom opening disposed well below the level of the fluid product. By locating the bottom intake of the water withdrawal pipe at a lower level than the bottom intake of the product withdrawal pipe and within a surrounding zone normally occupied by the product, hydrostatic pressure and the difference in specific gravity of the water and product insures separation of the product and water as the respective pumps individually remove same through the two pipes.

  • Patent number: 4629878
Abstract: A sensing and regulating apparatus for use with a tool such as a welding torch guided along a bevel, an oxygen cutting head, a chisel, a milling cutter, or a nibbling machine, comprises an optical apparatus projecting a light ray on a reference line where it delineates a spot which is diffused particularly toward a receiver consisting of elements sensitive to light. The spot of light falling on the receiver supplies two adjustment signals according to its position and its width. These signals are used to control elements carrying the optical apparatus so that the apparatus continually follows the reference line and so that it always remains at the same distance from the reference line. The movements of the optical apparatus control the associated working tool so that its path is equal, or homothetic, to that of the optical apparatus as a result of the reference line.

  • Patent number: 4619214
Abstract: The lateral displacement or oscillation of a sewing machine needle bar is controlled by a permanently installed servomotor-driven cam operated in coordination with a second similarly installed servomotor-driven cam controlling the displacement of the fabric feed dog. Manipulation of the faces on the two cams, in a synchronized manner, allows numerous stitch patterns to be achieved according to the amplitude and direction of displacement of the needle bar and feed dog pursuant to the positioning of the faces on the two cams by their respective servomotors.

  • Patent number: 4611827
Abstract: A first sleeve is connected to a second sleeve by means of a bellows. Brackets are arranged at the mutual circumferential distance along the circumferences of the sleeves which brackets are welded to the first sleeve at an end section thereof. The opposite end section of the brackets rest slidingly on the second sleeve. A clamping ring extends around the second end sections of the brackets at an inclined surface area thereof. This clamping ring is pushed onto these inclined surfaces and urges the end sections of the brackets against the second sleeve. The limiting of the stroke of the compensator is provided by circumferential rings welded to the second sleeve. The relative rotation blocking means is an elongated profile member which is welded onto the second sleeve and contacts a respective bracket.
