Abstract: Stable, liquid polyisocyanate compositions are prepared by reacting a polyisocyanate or a mixture of polyisocyanates and halogen-containing carboxylic acids. The polyisocyanates hereof are used to prepare polyurethanes, polyisocyanurates, poly(isocyanurate-urethane) and the like. These isocyanates can be used in foam formation, films, fibers, coating solutions, elastomers and the like.
Abstract: Non-gelled polyalkylenepolyamine polyethers are prepared by the reaction of ethylenediamine and polyepichlorohydrin in the presence of an organic solvent. The solvent enables the reactants to be present at less than a 3:1 ratio of polyamine per chlorine atom.
Abstract: Highly functional, substantially linear, polyamines are prepared by reacting a primary amine with an epihalohydrin oligomer or a mixture of an epihalohydrin oligomer and a halohydrin-terminated derivative of a polyol. Displacement of the haloalkyl halogen groups of the polyamine with amine groups provides highly functional amine intermediates which are useful in the preparation of drainage aids and the like.
Abstract: Diaphragms for electrolytic cells are prepared by depositing onto a cathode screen, discrete thermoplastic fibers. The fibers are highly branched, and which, when deposited form an entanglement or network thereof, which does not require bonding or cementing.
Abstract: A display rack for bolts of fabric and the like includes a plurality of freely rotatable display arms mounted on an elongated support member. In a prefered embodiment of the invention, two tiers of display arms are disposed.
