Abstract: A speed of movement of a moving object, e.g., a tennis ball, which moves a predetermined distance is determined by measuring a time interval between a first detection of a vibration wave produced in the ball when it is hit by the tennis player's racket and a second detection of anouther vibration wave produced when the ball collides with the court surface. A vibration sensor for performing the first detection, and a microcomputer for computing the movement speed of the ball, and a liquid crystal display for displaying the movement speed are accommodated in a case which is mounted on the tennis racket. A sound collecting micrphone which performs the second detection is attached to the lower edge of the net near a ball landing position on the court, and the detection signal is transmitted over a radiowave to a receiver accommodated in the case.

Abstract: An electrical generator drive which comprises a power source able to transmit power at a rotational speed which may fluctuate substantially in service, an electrical generator which requires a rotational input of power at a substantially constant speed, and a controllable drive transmission of high rotational inertia coupling together the power source and the electrical generator. The drive transmission comprises an epicyclic gear having an input member driven by the power source, an output member coupled with the electrical generator, and a reaction member, a monitoring device responsive to fluctuations from a predetermined value in the rotational speed of the output member, and a control device including a hydraulic pump/motor unit coupled with the reaction member and controllable by the monitoring device in order to vary the relative rotation between the reaction member and the other members of the epicyclic gear so as to maintain a substantially constant predetermined speed of the output member.

Abstract: An outer garment to be worn by two persons together, consisting of a vest, two sleeves and two inner arm support compartments. The garment can be a closed vest having a means of access for the head at the top, or having a front opening extending from top to bottom, having a first section and a second section with a means of closure. The inner arm support compartments afford the wearers comfort and wearing versatility, while allowing the two wearers to maintin close physical contact.
Abstract: A device for sterile disposal of a device used to withdraw or inject fluids from or into the body comprising a tubular sheath disposed in a rolled-up fashion around the body fluid device proximate one end thereof. The length of the sheath is great enough to permit the sheath, when unrolled, to extend beyond the end of the body fluid device and for a sufficient distance to permit ready enclosure thereof and subsequent sealing off of the contents of the sheath. A method for using the device is also disclosed. The device is particularly useful in combination with a catheter of conventional design.

Abstract: A method of converting particles liberated in chemical or physical processes, such as fly ash, metal processing sludge particles obtained in the preparation of metals or metal compound, or particles of electroplating sludge, are made harmless by preheating these particles to at least 600.degree. C. and then mixing same with a molten slag material, whereafter the mixture is solidified and broken.Preferably, the particles are preheating to their softening point or are molten.Noxious products, such as metals, being present in said particles cannot be leached out from the broken solidifed composition.
