  • Patent number: 5799378
Abstract: A fastener having two like plates effects joining through the interdigitation of bulbous heads formed to each plate. The plates have a plurality of intersecting, perpendicular walls. The intersection points of these walls define where heads may be formed thereto. Heads are attached to the plates atop stems formed integrally with the walls. The bulbous nature of the heads and the strength supplied by the formation of the walls allows for a strong yet releasable fastening of the plates.

  • Patent number: 5769403
Abstract: A payment coupon is prepared by stacking a plurality of individual sheets of paper atop one another and then slitting or cutting the stacked array into a plurality of segments. Each individual sheet has a plurality of spaced apart perforation lines such that there is provided a first area, a second area, a third area, a fourth area and a fifth area. The first area defines a first binding area,; the second area defines a payment portion,; a portion of the third area defines a mailing label and the other portion of the third area defines a second binding area; the fourth area defines a payment portion; and the fifth area defines a mailing label area. Each sheet is cut into at least four segments, and preferably, eight segments. When the segments are stacked and bound along their respective edges, they provide payment coupon books whereby each coupon has its own mailing label associated therewith which can be separated from the sheet along a perforation line.

Abstract: A device for the maintenance of large-capacity containers such as storage tanks or the like vessels is described, which consists of a scaffolding structure for accommodating a plurality of working platforms along the container wall, such scaffolding structure reposing swingably around the vertical centerline which is the rotation axis. For this purpose, the device is movable along the total peripheral area of the upper container wall. In three preferred embodiments, the device may consist either of a centrally supported pivot mounting supported on the container roof, which is horizontally adjustable and vertically settable around an air dome, or of a load-carrying support which is placed centrally on the container roof, or finally of a load-carrying support reposing movably on a uppermost container edge and a tank catwalk, such load-carrying support being composed in turn of a lattice carrier and a frame.

  • Patent number: 5005963
Abstract: The mirror assembly of the present invention includes a frame which house the mirror, a mirror frame, a rigid tubular member, and means for mounting the mirror frame to the vehicle. The mirror assembly is for mounting onto an exterior front surface of a vehicle, preferably, in the shape of a one-fourth of an ellipsoid. The mirror surface is in the shape of a convex triangle, having a variable radius of curvature. The mirror is in the shape of a portion of a quadratic surface. The mirror is formed by the intersection of each of two parallel planes with the quadratic surface. The mirror surface has a plurality of radii of curvature. The mirror provides the driver of the vehicle with a field of view which is substantially greater than angle of the quadratic surface about a vertical axis. The top portion of the ellipsoid which provides a field of view over the driver, and the side of the ellipsoid which provides a field of view of the front of the vehicle are eliminated from the mirror surface.

  • Patent number: 5002016
Abstract: A device for the collection of eggs includes a number of egg conveyor belts lying above one another, an egg discharge belt and a device disposed between the egg conveyor belts and the egg discharge belt for transferring eggs from the egg conveyor belts to the egg discharge belt. The transfer device includes an essentially vertically arranged endless egg conveyor which at the top and bottom thereof is guided over reversing mechanisms. The egg conveyor has a first part which can move up past the ends of egg conveyor belts, and a second part which can move down past the egg discharge belt. The egg conveyor is provided with egg accommodation elements disposed abutting one after the other in the lengthwise direction of the egg conveyor, the egg accommodation elements being essentially U-shaped, when viewed in the transverse direction of the egg conveyor, and open towards the outside, and extending over the width of the egg conveyor.

  • Patent number: 4995167
Abstract: A novel masonry tool kit that enables masons to plumb their work quickly and easily which saves time and money. The invention consists of two vertical members or story poles which operate in two systems. One system is used for outside corners and the other for inside corners. The vertical members or story poles have markings to save time so brick courses will be pre-gauged which prevents uneven courses on the wall. The lower L shaped members give stability so that the masonry line can be pulled tight and true with no movement. The masonry guide provides a simplified method of insuring accuracy with quality craftsmanship in masonry work. This masonry tool kit eliminates the need to shim or build a lead at the top of the foundation inside or outside corners as the lower L shaped members secure the vertical member or story pole in the correct position.

  • Patent number: 4993320
Abstract: In a method for producing an inking roller in the form of a screen roller for an offset inking mechanism or similar ink applicator, during a scraping process a doctor blade slides over the surface of webs which define a screen system. A metal and/or hard ceramic layer, is applied to the roller cylinder, and a laser beam is used to burn a pattern into the abrasion-resistant, hydrophilic surface of the metal and/or ceramic layer. Hydrophobic lining material at least partly covers the walls of the depressions. A plurality of cells for receiving ink or the like are formed in the lining material of the fillable depressions and the arrangement and structure of the cells are independent of the arrangement and structure of the depressions.

  • Patent number: 4991814
Abstract: The invention involves a new mirror assembly for large vehicles that enables a mirror to be mounted upward from the vehicle in a first orientation providing a field of view adjacent to the vehicle, and readily adjusted into a second orientation wherein the mirror is outward from the vehicle providing a field of view for behind the vehicle. The assembly includes a rear-view mirror assembly comprising a mirror, a mirror housing, a bracket for mounting the assembly to a vehicle, and a linkage connecting the bracket to the housing. The linkage can be easily rotated relative to the bracket. The mirror housing can be readily disengaged from and reengaged to the linkage thereby enabling a reorientation of the assembly relative to the vehicle. By so doing, an oblong mirror can be mounted to the vehicle in one orientation for driving, disengaged and reengaged in a second orientation for rearward movement of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4986292
Abstract: The present invention includes a system for storing and transporting a liquid in which a series of tank cars each have a hollow tank body with an inlet and an outlet supported on a frame with a plurality of wheels on the frame. These cars are connected together with a sealable male fitting and female fitting which interengage to allow fluid flow between the cars. Using this valve arrangement, a series of cars hooked together may be filled from a single fill point or station. A method of storing and transporting a liquid involving these storage cars is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4975009
Abstract: A wedge and bolt assembly serves to temporarily connect two prefabricated panel units for use in assembling a concrete wall form. A bolt support member is mountable on a prefabricated panel, and includes a first hollow passage formed therethrough to slidingly receive a bolt. The bolt has a main body portion with two recesses formed therein to receive an engaging member. The bolt also has a projecting end with a transverse slot formed therethrough for receiving a wedge after insertion through extending flanges of aligned panel units. The bolt support member includes a second hollow passage formed therein transverse to the first hollow passage in which an engaging member is disposed, the engaging member being biased into the recesses of the bolt by a coil spring or the like. A set screw or the like is inserted in the second passageway of the bolt support member to retain the spring and engaging member therewithin.

  • Patent number: 4968139
Abstract: An illuminating system for the visual inspection of objects is proposed, in which a partly reflecting mirror directing the radiation onto the object is arranged crosswise in the optical path of a light source. An observer optical path is directed onto the object over the side of the partly reflecting mirror remote from the light source. There is also a light trap arranged in such a way that it absorbs the residual radiation not directed onto the object, which passes through the mirror or which is reflected on the mirror surface remote from the object.
