Abstract: In a process for coating a substrate surface with a layer of inorganic material, the inorganic material is vaporised in a vacuum chamber evacuated to at least 10.sup.-3 mbar by bombarding with an electron beam from a high voltage electron-beam gun and deposited on the substrate surface. Gas discharging is created between the point of incidence (A) of the electron beam on the inorganic material to be vaporised and an anode such that the electrostatic charge created by the high voltage electron-beam gun flows off via the anode. This way damage to the substrate, which may arise as a result discharging phenomena, can be effectively avoided.
Abstract: A preform, a process for forming the preform and a container formed from the preform are disclosed. The preform comprises a tubular body portion having an open end and a closed end. At a location near the open end, a flange extends outwardly from the tubular body portion. A closure retaining element is provided for engaging a closure. The closure retaining element is formed separately from the tubular body portion and includes a manner for attachment to the tubular body portion. The closure retaining element is attached to the tubular body portion adjacent the flange via the manner for attachment.

Abstract: Apparatus for operating and controlling a free-piston Stirling engine with a displacement piston in a cylinder, said piston separating a hot cylinder space from a cold cylinder space, an annular space being formed between the cylinder and a sleeve section surrounding the cylinder, characterized in that the annular space extends right through from an annular gap in the region of the hot cylinder space to an annular gap in the region of the cold cylinder space, plates being inserted all the way along in the longitudinal direction into this annular space.
Abstract: Process for manufacturing cold formed shaped forms of packaging having at least one recess from a metal-plastic laminate. Examples of such shaped forms of packaging are the base parts of push-through packs or blister packs. The process is such that the laminate is held between a retaining tool and a die. The die exhibits at least one opening and a stamp is driven into the die opening causing the laminate to be shape-formed into a packaging, correspondingly exhibiting one or more recesses. The die and the retaining tool exhibit facing edge regions and the die, within the edge region, exhibits a shoulder region that surrounds the die opening or openings. The surface of the shoulder region lies 0.
Abstract: An adsorbent for selective removal of nitrile from a hydrocarbon feedstock includes a substantially homogeneous mixture of a cationic nonacidic zeolite and an inorganic oxide matrix, the zeolite having an accessibility index of between about 0.1 to about 0.4, and the adsorbent being capable, when contacted with a hydrocarbon feedstock containing nitrile and containing dienes in an amount of at least about 1.0% by volume, of adsorbing at least about 80% of the nitrile during contact with at least about 200 volumes of the feedstock per volume of adsorbent.

Abstract: Boat hulls are prepared by positioning reinforcing material in a mold, applying vacuum to firmly hold the reinforcing material against the mold, positioning a fiberglass-resin mixture over the reinforcing material, placing a vacuum bag over the fiberglass mixture, and evacuating the vacuum bag to press the fiberglass mixture against the reinforcing material to bond the fiberglass mixture to the reinforcing material. Also discloses a boat hull construction.
Abstract: The present invention related to a method for providing a composite structure and the composite structure formed thereby. The method broadly comprises the steps of: providing a core structure formed from a non-metallic composite material in a substantially uncured state; applying a fluoroelastomer film in a substantially uncured state over surface portions of said core structure; placing a metallic structure over a portion of said core structure, said metallic structure having inner surfaces which contacts said fluoroelastomer film; and molding said composite structure under conditions of heat and pressure for a time sufficient to co-cure said fluoroelastomer film and said non-metallic core structure material and to form a bond between said fluoroelastomer film and said inner surfaces of said metallic structure. The method of the present invention may be used to manufacture original metal/composite structures as well as to refurbish metal/composite structures such as fan exit guide vanes for jet engines.

Each of the side portions includes a hollow loop portion for reducing the weight of the frame and for displacing the pressure onto a multiplicity of different support points. The frame further includes a portion, at the rear of the seat, connecting the side portions.
Abstract: Packaging for medicaments such as blister packs contain a plurality of recesses which hold contents. A lidding foil closes off the packaging and protects the contents. The contents such as tablets are pushed through the lidding foil whereupon the lidding foil breaks. The lidding foil features at least one conductive strip and the medicament packaging can be connected to a computer. On pushing the contents through the lidding foil, the lidding foil breaks and the computer recognizes the impulse emitted as a result of this action. The conductive strips contain, as current carrying fraction, an SnO.sub.2 /SbO.sub.3 hydroxide mixture on a mica substrate.
