Abstract: A catalyst useful for the simultaneous and selective hydrogenation of diolefins and nitriles present in a hydrocarbon feedstock includes (a) a support material selected from the group consisting of inorganic oxide, carbon, zeolite and mixtures thereof; and (b) a catalytically active metal phase including at least two metals selected from the group consisting of at least partially reduced Group IB metals and completely reduced Group VIII metals, the active metal phase being present in an amount of about .gtoreq.0.03 wt %.

Abstract: The closure assembly includes: a container having an access opening; an inner closure with a rim attached to the container, a central portion covering the access opening, a weakened portion in the central portion, and a separably interlocking portion in the central portion, as a threaded portion; a removable closure covering the inner closure and separably interlocking the inner closure; whereby twisting the removable closure as by threading action on the inner closure breaks the inner closure at the weakened portion and opens the container. Also discloses a method for opening a closure assembly.

Abstract: The invention provides a method of welding together articles made of a thermoplastic plastic material by means of a butt welding process, whereby the two articles to be welded together are held in place in coaxial relationship by means of clamping devices. Then, the two articles are heated up by means of a heating device that can be placed between the two articles to create a molten up welding zone in the region of each of the free ends of the two articles. As soon as the welding zone has reached the proper temperature, the two articles to be welded together are pressed together to create a bulge. Finally, the temperature of that bulge is continuously monitored and the temperature of the material in the interior of the afore mentioned welding zone is calculated according to the formula ##EQU1## until such a temperature is reached at which the articles can be removed from the clamping devices.
Abstract: A process for smelting metallic raw materials in a shaft furnace having beds of metallic raw material and coke comprises injecting concurrently into the shaft furnace (1) a mixture of flue gases and oxygen at a subsonic velocity and (2) preheated oxygen at supersonic velocity wherein the supersonic velocity oxygen is injected into the coke bed.
Abstract: A method of preparing filled plastic containers by preparing a formed plastic precursor by thermoforming, pressure molding, or tabletting in a precursor preparation station, heating the plastic precursor in a heating station to a compression molding temperature, preparing a plastic preform by compression molding the heat plastic precursor in a preform production station, blow molding the preform into the configuration of a final container in a blow molding station, and filling the blow molded container in a filling station, wherein the preform preparation, blow molding and filling are performed sequentially in physically proximate operations.

Abstract: A process for displaying an animated likeness of the face of a character, includes the steps of (a) providing a face screen having a three-dimensional representation of the face of the character; (b) making a projectable image of the face of the character with an image recorder while projecting the image on the face screen with a projector; (c) obtaining a presentation registration of the image and the face screen through a process selected from the group consisting of (i) altering the projectable image, (ii) adjusting at least one component of face screen position, image recording means position, projector position, focal length and lighting while making the projectable image, and (iii) combinations thereof; and (d) subsequently projecting the image on the face screen at the presentation registration whereby an animated likeness of the face of the individual is presented. Abstract: In a process for treating composite elements of solid organic and/or inorganic composite materials-such as composites of metal/metal, plastic/plastic, metal/plastic or mineral composites with metals and/or plastic materials-solid particles are produced from the composite elements and they are added to a transport fluid, wherein at least one flow obstacle which crosses the flow of the mixture of solid particles and transport fluid is moved relative to said flow as a flow-breakaway edge for forming eddies which acceleratingly break up the mixture. The mixture is fed to the separation or break-up procedure at the flow-breakaway edge or edges with an acceleration of 20 to 25 m/sec.sup.2 and the composite element is preferably crushed prior to the separation or break-up procedure.

Abstract: A fuel-injection nozzle consists of a nozzle housing terminating in a nozzle tip, a pintle guided in the housing, the pintle is pressed by spring action against a conical valve seat in the nozzle tip, the conical valve seat has a plurality of spray holes selectively covered by the conical end of the pintle and passing into a blind hole, the corresponding imaginary cylinder surface area (M) which results, along the extension of each spray hole, between the conical end of the pintle and the conical valve seat being smaller at the end of the first phase of the stroke than the cross-sectional area (Q) of the corresponding spray hole. In order further to improve the emission behavior as a whole, the imaginary cylinder surface area (M) is at most 0.3 times the cross-sectional area (Q) of the corresponding spray hole and the entrance zone into the spray hole is rounded with a radius of at least one-tenth the diameter of the spray hole.

Abstract: A method for on line recovery of oil from an oil in water emulsion spilled in water includes the steps of: obtaining a stream of recovered material including an oil in water emulsion and water; inducing a gas into the stream and applying shear so as to provide a mixture wherein oil from the oil in water emulsion is adhered to bubbles of the gas; passing the mixture to a flotation compartment for allowing the oil adhered to the bubbles to rise to a surface of the mixture; and removing the oil from the surface of the mixture.

Abstract: A grease nipple includes a fixture, a plurality of nipples arranged in radial directions around the circumference of the fixture and fixed thereto, and a screw projecting at one side of the fixture and tapering in a direction away from the fixture. A grease feed passage is formed through the fixture and the screw for feeding grease to a universal joint spider. A clamp portion is further provided between the fixture and the screw. The clamp portion has a width, as measured between the fixture and the screw, to provide a spacing between the fixture and the universal joint spider for receiving a thickness of a grease feed pipe between one of the nipples and the universal joint spider when the grease nipple is attached to the universal joint spider via the screw. The clamp portion may be formed integral with the fixture and the screw.

In this case, mixing arms (14) of different configurations engage in the open space (toric space 12) from the shaft (2).
