Abstract: The present invention relates to a composition for coating internal surfaces of an airfoil, particular high pressure temperature airfoils such as vanes and blades. The composition includes a dry composition consisting essentially of from about 2.5 wt % to about 7.0 wt % aluminum fluoride, from about 5.0 wt % to about 20 wt % of a chromium-aluminum powder, and from about 75 wt % to about 92.5 wt % Al.sub.2 O.sub.3. The dry composition is mixed with water and a cellulose compound to form a slurry which is thereafter injected into the airfoil. The coating compositions of the present invention are valuable in that they are capable of forming an oxidation and corrosion resistant coating on the internal surfaces of the airfoil simultaneously with the formation of an exterior corrosion and oxidation resistant coating. A process for simultaneously forming corrosion and oxidation resistant coatings on the interior and exterior surfaces of an airfoil is described herein.

Abstract: A fuel injection pump unit consists of a fuel injection pump (1), in which a quantity-determining member (6) is set by an actuator (13), its position being detected by a position sensor (15), and of a control unit (2) which calculates an injection quantity (M) and from that, using a stored ignition characteristic (33), determines a set value (.beta..sub.set) for the quantity-determining member (6). To provide a simple and precise calibration of the pump unit with minimal complexity, there are two adjustable stop faces (21, 22) which delimit the travel of the quantity-determining member (6) and in each case define a position of the quantity-determining member (.beta..sub.1, .beta..sub.2) commensurate with a certain measured injection quantity (M.sub.1, M.sub.2), in each case at a certain distance (k.sub.1, k.sub.
Abstract: A method for making a pleated structure having a pleated shape memory includes providing an elongated material having a longitudinal axis; pleating the material to form a pleated structure having a plurality of substantially parallel pleats substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis; folding the material along a plurality of axes substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis to form folds and provide a folded structure defining wall portions between the folds and face portions at the folds; heating the material in the pleated structure so as to provide a heated material; and cooling the heated material so as to provide the material with shape memory toward the pleated structure.
Abstract: In a process for coating a substrate surface with a layer of inorganic material, the inorganic material is vaporised in a vacuum chamber evacuated to at least 10.sup.-3 mbar by bombarding with an electron beam from a high voltage electron-beam gun and deposited on the substrate surface. Gas discharging is created between the point of incidence (A) of the electron beam on the inorganic material to be vaporised and an anode such that the electrostatic charge created by the high voltage electron-beam gun flows off via the anode. This way damage to the substrate, which may arise as a result discharging phenomena, can be effectively avoided.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved fixture for facilitating the coating of workpieces such as turbine blades and vanes. The fixture has a hollow core member and a plurality of workpiece receptacles positioned along the length of and about the periphery of the core member. Each of the workpiece receptacles comprises an open sided workpiece support structure and a cover for closing the open side of the support structure. During the coating operation, the fixture of the present invention is rotated about its longitudinal axis while the workpieces being coated remain stationary within the receptacles.

Abstract: A catalyst system for treating sulfur and nitrogen contaminated hydrocarbon feedstock includes a matrix, at least one support medium substantially uniformly distributed through said matrix and comprising a silica alumina molecular sieve material having a silica/alumina ratio of at least about 20, a first catalytically active metal phase supported on said support medium, said first catalytically active metal phase comprising a first metal and a second metal each selected from group VIII of the Periodic Table of Elements, said first metal being different from said second metal, a second catalytically active metal phase supported on said matrix, said second catalytically active metal phase comprising a third metal and a fourth metal each selected from group VIII of the Periodic Table of Elements and a fifth metal selected from group VIb of the Periodic Table of Elements, said third metal being different from said fourth metal.
Abstract: For the continuous remelting of metals--in particular steels and Ni-- Co-base alloys--in a short, downwardly open water-cooled chill mold (20) for producing an elongate casting portion (26) the latter is produced either by continuous or stepwise withdrawal from the chill mold (20) or when the elongate casting portion (26) is stationary by corresponding lifting movement of the chill mold (20). In order to ensure on the one hand a sufficiently high and thus economical smelting rate and on the other hand a high level of quality in respect of the remelted elongate casting portions (26), the cross-sectional area of the smelting-off electrode (16) should be at least 0.5 times the cross-sectional area of the remelted elongate casting portion (26) and the smelting-off rate should be so adjusted that it corresponds to between 1.5 and 30 times the equivalent elongate casting portion diameter (D.sub.eq) calculated from the circumference (U) of the casting cross-section, in accordance with the relationship:D.sub.eq =U/.

A first injector nozzle is positioned in a first mold half adjacent the cavity, for injecting a first molding resin into the cavity through a first orifice. A second injector nozzle is included which is positioned in the second mold half adjacent the cavity for injecting a second molding resin. The second resin may be different from the first resin or the same as the first resin. The second resin is injected through a second orifice unconnected with the first orifice. The injector nozzles may be either simultaneously or sequentially activated for filling the mold cavity, and may be single material or co-injection type nozzles.
