Abstract: A microwave pulse compressor has an elongated, cross-sectionally oversized waveguide resonator for decreasing the attenuation of the resonator, thereby increasing the resonator's QO The increased Q of the resonator guide results in more stored energy and greater output pulse power. The pulse compressor is constructed to suppress high order modes that can be generated in oversized waveguides. The higher order modes are suppressed by any means, including, separately or in combination, the input coupling design, choice of the resonator length, and the design of the output coupling structures. In one alternative aspect of the invention, the switch at the switch-out end of the waveguide resonator is a plasma switch, employing at least one dielectric window positioned in the resonator guide to have minimum effect on the resonator Q. The dielectric window contains a relatively large volume of a switch gas at low pressure within a switching section of the resonator guide at the guide's switch-out end.
Abstract: A system and method for monitoring a vertical shaft impact crusher comprises a plurality of sensors which continuously monitor the current status of a plurality of crusher component parts, a computer in communication with the sensors, and a graphical user interface in communication with the computer and on which is displayed a plurality of virtual instruments. The computer interprets the signals received from the sensors and renders a perceptible indication of a plurality of crusher conditions on the plurality of virtual instruments, each of which conditions are associated with or derived from one or more of the signals received from the sensors. In a preferred embodiment, a recorded history of the status of each of the conditions may be viewed on a historical data viewer for a selected time period.
Abstract: A wear tip for a rotary mineral breaker comprises a carrier 12 having at least one wear edge 40 having a recess 50. An insert 14 of abrasion resistant material disposed in the recess 50 has an outer wear surface 52 in generally parallel relation with a wear face 48 of the carrier 12 and an inner surface 54 having an arcuate profile for more effective consumption of the insert material.
Abstract: A lateral force resistance device for a ground achoring system suitably used in expansive soils has an inner sleeve structure and an outer collar connected to the inner sleeve structure by a plurality of load transfer members such as longitudinal load transfer plates. The lateral force resistance device is embedded in the soil over a ground anchor, such as a helical anchor, by sliding the inner sleeve structure of the device over the top end of the anchor and using an embedment method involving vibration, pushing or other technique. The outer collar of the lateral force resistance device provides a relatively large surface area displaced from the inner sleeve structure for providing efficient load transfer to the surrounding soil.
