  • Patent number: 4499791
Abstract: A longitudinally mounted drive train for an automotive vehicle usable with either a manual transmission or an automatic transmission. A housing encloses a clutch in the manual drive train or a torque converter in the automatic drive train. The housing is fastened, in the manual drive train, directly onto the housing of the manual transmission or, in the automatic drive train, by means of a bearing support housing to the housing of the automatic transmission. The housing can be formed of two parts. In both drive trains a shaft having a differential bevel pinion can be provided to couple the transmission to a differential to permit front wheel drive or four wheel drive. The use of common components for the normal drive train and for the automatic drive train results in greatly reduced production costs and lower parts inventory.

  • Patent number: 4495666
Abstract: An improved inflatable cushion lift assembly for use in a bathtub by a person taking a bath. The lift assembly is positioned on the floor of a bathtub and is connected to the bathtub faucet to inflate the cushion. The cushion may be deflated while a person is sitting thereon to lower a person to the floor of the tub. Furthermore, the cushion may be inflated while the person is sitting on the cushion on the floor of the tub to raise the user upwardly to allow the user to exit the tub easily. The present improvement inhibits undesired movement of the cushion while being used by utilizing a rigid bottom panel and/or rigid top panel. Furthermore, the interior of the cushion may be provided with baffles or the like for dampening water oscillations within the cushion. The cushion, for reasons of stability, may also be tiered or formed in layers such that the cushion inflates or deflates in stages.

  • Patent number: 4471769
Abstract: A surgical drape has a main sheet for draping over a patient's torso, a pair of leg flaps for draping over the patient's legs, and a liquid impervious sheet which has an opening for providing access to the patient. The leg flaps are connected to the main sheet and they extend laterally inwardly. Their forward and distal edges are movable so they may cover the legs of either a reclining patient whose knees are straight or a reclining patient whose knees are raised and bent in a lithotomy position. The liquid impervious sheet has its forward end connected to the main sheet. It has a second opening which provides a second access to the patient and a drain opening which permits the drainage of liquid. Removable liquid impervious coverings are provided over the latter two openings. To prevent liquid from flowing over the sides of the impervious sheet, its margins are provided with adhesive areas which are used to form tucks in the sheet.

  • Patent number: RE31706
Abstract: A simple and quickly appliable bag closure device which automatically tightens the neck of the bag. According to a preferred embodiment of the invention the device comprises a label holder in the form of a generally flattened base and a cover for closure over the base. Said base and cover are provided with means permitting them to be sealed in the closed position by means of a security seal. The base is centrally formed with a cavity shaped to receive a lever which is a separate part of the label holder although connected thereto by a string fixed at one end to one of various points along the length of the lever and at the other end to a label. The lever is formed, with relation to the cavity, so that it may be pivoted about one end to apply an automatic tightening to the neck of the bag about which the lever is passed before being placed in the cavity.
