Abstract: Devices for twisting the extremities of a wrapping around for example a lollipop produced by high speed production machines often have long levers which are necessary to allow the stick of the lollipop to be supplied and discharged to and from the pairs of twisting claws. This results in high centrifugal forces on those levers. The invention abolishes this drawback by spacing the levers of the pair of claws in question outside the axis of rotation of the device. Further improvements can be reached by providing a counter mass.
Abstract: The disclosure relates to an air pressure sensor comprising a first air passage, a branch passage having an opening into the air passage, a sensor in the branch passage responsive to variation in air pressure in the opening and jet means for air flow through the first passage adjacent the opening to the branch passage to create an increased depression in static pressure as compared with the remainder of the air passage to enhance the response of the pressure sensor in the branch passage when air flow through the first passage occurs. The air passage terminates in a probe having an orifice to be opened and closed by the absence of and presence of a surface in contact with the probe so that the pressure sensor indicates whether or not the probe is in contact with the surface.

Abstract: Amidino compounds represented by the formula ##STR1## and pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts thereof are novel compounds and are useful as powerful antitrypsine, antiplasmin, antikallikrein and antithrombin agents. Having strong anti-C1 (C1r, C1s) activities and an anticomplement activity, they are also useful as anticomplement agents. These amidino compounds are prepared by usual esterification of carboxylic acid compounds represented by the formula ##STR2## with 6-amidino-2-naphthol and, if necessary, can be transformed into pharmaceuticlly acceptable acid addition salts thereof.
Abstract: Tridimensional cross-linked random copolymers, insoluble in water, containing in copolymerized form: (a) 25% to 98% by weight of N-[tris(hydroxymethyl)methyl]acrylamide or N-[tris(hydroxymethyl)methyl]methacrylamide, or a mixture of these two compounds. (b) 2% to 50% by weight of one or more monomers containing two or several polymerizable ethylenic double bonds and free from anionic or cationic functional groups, and (c) 0.1% to 50% by weight of one or more monomers containing a polymerizable ethylenic double bond and one or more mono- or di-substituted amino, pyrimidinyl, guanidyl, purinyl, quaternary ammonium, SO.sub.3 H or SO.sub.3 M groups, M being an alkali metal. These copolymers are utilizable, in the form of aqueous gels, as ion exchangers.
Abstract: In a sodium sulphur cell having, within a metal housing, a ceramic electrolyte tube separating the liquid alkali metal from the cathodic reactant, a current collector extends into the region inside the electrolyte tube and is electrically insulated from the electrolyte by an insulating element. The metal housing is sealed to the insulating element in a region around the current collector which region has a maximum cross-section substantially less than the maximum cross-section of the electrolyte tube and preferably lies wholly within the outer periphery of the electrolyte tube. The small seal areas with the constructions described give improved economy and reliability. The constructon has particular advantages with cells of short length.

Abstract: In a non-contact type microdisplacement meter, two electrodes different in area are confronted with an object under measurement to form two electrostatic capacitances between the object and the electrodes, and the capacitances are coupled to two oscillator circuits, so that a displacement signal is provided as the frequency difference between the oscillator circuit, thereby to measure the very small displacement of the object.
Abstract: A motion transmitting device of the quadrant drive type has a wheel, preferably toothed, a plurality of independently movable elements for successively engaging the wheel, a datum member and an eccentric effecting eccentric relative motion between the wheel and the datum member. Connector pins movable in ovoid or circular holes in the wheel and datum guide the movable elements into and out of engagement with the wheel. The movable elements are not linked, as in a chain, but means are provided to prevent them from any tilting or substantial rotation with respect to the datum member.
