  • Patent number: 7162097
Abstract: According to the present invention, methods and apparatus for filtering transform coefficients are provided. Transform coefficients associated with an input bit sequence can be zeroed to provide modified transform coefficients associated with an output bit sequence. The transform coefficients may represent information in a portion of data such as a video frame, a picture, or an audio stream. In one example, the transform coefficients are DCT coefficients of an MPEG-2 video sequence. The transform coefficients are filtered to provide modified transform coefficients associated with an output bit sequence. The output bit sequence is a rescaled version of the input bit sequence.

  • Patent number: 7162589
Abstract: According to the present invention, methods and apparatus are provided for increasing the efficiency of data access in a multiple processor, multiple cluster system. Mechanisms for transmitting memory cancels to memory controllers in the various clusters of a multiple cluster system are provided. In one example, memory cancels are transmitted between clusters when it is determined that a memory line associated with a probe is dirty. The memory cancel directs the memory controller to no longer proceed with a data fetch from main memory. In another example, memory cancels are transmitted at a home cluster based on information in a coherence directory in order to more quickly end a data fetch.

  • Patent number: 7162703
Abstract: Method and apparatus for rule checking systems that validate an electronic design is disclosed. Generally, information is extracted from a plurality of nodes in a netlist and stored for a set of predefined rules to share in a rule checking engine. The rule checking engine includes a generic routine for executing rules having a simple format. A user or developer may enter new rules in the form of one or more simple conditions that can be matched against any node in an electronic design under consideration. In one embodiment, the rule checking engine considers each node of the design in succession. At any given node, the engine applies all appropriate rules and flags any violation. In some embodiments, rules may require consideration of properties from one or more neighboring nodes. Thus, in some embodiments, the rule checking engine can traverse multiple nodes in order to evaluate a rule.

  • Patent number: 7161145
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for identifying analytes at low concentrations in a liquid sample. The liquid sample is introduced through a continuous flow membrane inlet system. The analytes that permeate the membrane are analyzed by photoionization-time-of-flight mass spectrometry. The analytes remaining in the liquid sample that do not permeate the membrane are conducted to a capillary tube inlet that introduces the liquid sample and other analytes as droplets into the photoionization zone. Any analytes remaining absorbed or adsorbed on the membrane are driven through the membrane by application of heat. Analytes may be analyzed by either resonance enhanced multiphoton ionization (REMPI) or single photon ionization (SPI), both of which are provided in the apparatus and can be selected as alternative sources.

  • Patent number: 7162205
Abstract: In a detector device 10 of the invention, a wave detection module 20 receives and detects radio wave in a predetermined frequency band, which is used by a target wireless communication device for telecommunication. An extraction module 30 extracts a pattern representing a time-series variation in presence or absence of the detected radio wave. An identification module 40 compares the extracted pattern with inherent patterns of radio wave transmitted from plural devices, which use the radio wave in the predetermined frequency band and include the target wireless communication device, and thereby identifies the propagation environment of the radio wave transmitted from the target wireless communication device. A display module 50 displays a result of the identification by changing lighting statuses of LEDs. When smooth telecommunication of a wireless communication device is interrupted, this arrangement of the invention desirably identifies the reason of the interrupted communication.

  • Patent number: 7159137
Abstract: Improved techniques are provided for detecting and correcting errors and skew in inter-cluster communications within computer systems having a plurality of multi-processor clusters. The local nodes of each cluster include a plurality of processors and an interconnection controller. Intra-cluster links are formed between the local nodes, including the interconnection controller, within a cluster. Inter-cluster links are formed between interconnection controllers of different clusters. Intra-cluster packets may be serialized and encapsulated as inter-cluster packets for transmission on inter-cluster links, preferably with link-layer encapsulation. Each inter-cluster packet may include a sequence identifier and error information computed for that packet. Clock data may be embedded in symbols sent on each bit lane of the inter-cluster links. Copies of transmitted inter-cluster packets may be stored until an acknowledgement is received.

  • Patent number: 7156735
Abstract: A gaming machine displays multiple game outcome presentations to one or more players playing the gaming machine. A player may initiate a new game on the gaming machine while the outcome of a previous game is being presented to the player. For a number of different games, two or more game outcomes may be presented simultaneously to the player on the gaming machine. The game outcome presentations for two or more of the games may appear to interact. However, the game outcomes determined by the gaming machine are independent of one another and do not depend on the game outcome presentation. Many different combinations of games may be played simultaneously on the gaming machine.

  • Patent number: 7154756
Abstract: When a recording medium is inserted into an insertion part, a locking part of a pull-in member locks a concave part of the recording medium because a pressed part is pressed to move a moving member. Simultaneously, a first switching member is switched, and a cam member rotates to move a power transmission means into the inside of an apparatus (Y1-direction). Thereby, since the moving member having the pull-in member mounted thereon also moves, the recording medium can be carried into the inside of the apparatus. If the recording medium is abnormally orientated, the locking part can lock the concave part. Therefore, the recording medium can be prevented from being carried into the inside of the apparatus.
