Abstract: A high pressure gas compressor having an internal two staged compression with a compression chamber formed in part by a positive displacement, stepped piston and cylinder configuration, providing a first stage compression by an enlarged diameter segment of the piston and a second stage compression provided by a smaller diameter segment of the piston. Temperature is maintained within design limits by the admission to the compression chamber of an expanded gas from a high pressure storage, which on adiabatic expansion of the admission gas reduces the temperature of the mixed charge for final compression at a resultant temperature that is within the design limits of the compressor unit.
Abstract: A hypodermic needle having a rigid, clear, protective sleeve encircling the perimeter of the barrel of the hypodermic needle and connected to the plunger of the hypodermic needle, the protective sleeve being drawn toward the bevel of the hypodermic needle as the plunger is depressed. Additionally, the preferred embodiment includes a locking device that locks the protective sleeve in place once the plunger is fully depressed and the injection is complete, preventing reuse of the hypodermic needle and reducing the chance of accidental contact with the bevel.
Abstract: A device for confining an ornament possessing a pin fastener to a piece of material utilizing a base member which is adapted to lie adjacent the backside of the ornament. The base member is attachable to the pin fastener of the ornament and is linked to a support which holds the base member to the piece of material.
Abstract: A temperature measuring device utilizing a thermometer including a temperature sensor and a temperature indicator for displaying a temperature value. The temperature indicator is mechanically and electrically linked to the temperature sensor. A member is sized to at least partially cover the temperature sensor. The temperature sensor is separable from the cover member which includes an aperture which may take the form of a slot. The aperture permits passage of the temperature sensor and also allows the temperature sensor and temperature indicator to be held to the member.
Abstract: A patient device for assisting in the treatment of patients who use breathing devices is disclosed. The patient device includes a body which may have any of an infinite variety of shapes and appearances as long as the body is intended to appeal to and relieve the anxiety in the patient. In the preferred embodiment, the body incorporates an integrally formed mouth piece and/or face mask and channels for conducting gas. The device may also utilize visible vapor to produce a vapor effect which enhances the appearance of the patient device, further appeals to the patient, and encourages the patient to breath from the breathing device.
Abstract: A mobile advertising device having a rotating display unit suspended from a cord that is preferably supported from a wand attached to a shelf unit in a store. The display unit has a battery powered motor that rotates a drum having a surface on which graphics are displayed and the display unit may include lights to attract the attention of customers.
Abstract: A toilet fan assembly inserted between the water shut-off valve and the toilet intake connector that ventilates the area surrounding the toilet and neutralizes odors through automatic activation of a water-driven fan after the toilet is flushed, the toilet fan assembly requiring no modification to existing toilet fixtures and requiring no electrical power source.
Abstract: An overrunning clutch for a torque converter utilizing a housing having an endless inner surface. A plurality of ratchet teeth are located on the endless inner surface of the housing such that each of the ratchet teeth possess a contact surface. A retainer having an endless outer surface fits within the inner surface of the housing. A series of recesses on the endless outer surface of the retainer hold or confine a plurality of spring actuated sprags. Each of the sprags extends from the recesses to bears on the contact surface of a ratchet tooth on the endless inner surface of the housing. Such contact takes place upon the rotation of the housing relative to the retainer.
