  • Patent number: 5515808
Abstract: An alerting mechanism integrated with a hand-held whistle utilizing a structural member having a first and a second surface. The structural member is secured to the whistle or a cavity found in the whistle structure, to permit the structural member to rotate and be held between a first and a second position. The first position exposes the first surface of the structural member while the second position exposes the second surface of the structural member. Coloration or other marking may be employed on the first surface to visually distinguish the first surface from the second surface.

  • Patent number: 5515867
Abstract: A patient head support for a shoulder surgery positioner having a headrest and a forehead band. The support includes a pad which is extendable over the chin of the patient. The pad possesses a soft outer surface. A pair of straps, each including first and second ends are connected to the pad at the first end thereof. Each of the straps also engage the headrest at the second end to adjustably hold the pad to the chin of the patient. A fastener is employed, such as a hook and pile arrangement. Such provision entails the fastener to include a member which extends along the pad and which is fixed relative to the pad to relieve tension of the pad. Thus, the pair of straps form adjustable closed loops relative to the pad.

  • Patent number: 5511895
Abstract: The adaptor for locking the internal components of a torque converter including a mandrel or pin having first and second end portions. The first end portion of the mandrel extends into a torque converter opening to engage the internal components of the torque converter. A collet of the torque converter circumscribes the mandrel during this extension. An intermediate element having a hollow end portion is capable of fitting over the collet and the second end portion of the mandrel. An intermediate element is fastened or fixed to the mandrel which may be interchangeable, dependant upon the particular torque converter being stabilized. A bushing is interposed the intermediate element and the collet and maintained in this position such that the open hollow end portion of the intermediate element, the bushing, and the collet are sandwiched together.

  • Patent number: 5505123
Abstract: Nut cracking apparatus including a cracking machine with first and second opposed cracking plates with pivot means for suspending one of the plates from a pivot axis substantially parallel to and spaced from the pivot axis of the other suspended plate, the suspended plates being interconnected at the bottom of each plate by a link mechanism having a release, so that the plates are suspended with the spacing between the plates at the top of the plates being greater than the spacing at the bottom of the plates, the machine having a reciprocal drive mechanism that swings the plates together to a cracking position where the plates are closer together and then to a release position where the release mechanism moves the plates apart releasing the cracked nuts; the apparatus including a nut feed mechanism for a timed feed of nuts between the plates of the cracking machine.

  • Patent number: 5499755
Abstract: A precision alignment apparatus that automatically welds together the parts of a cut-apart torque converter. A precision cast and machined frame is provided onto which are mounted a spindle assembly, a double-end air cylinder and a turntable which are aligned within a close tolerance along a longitudinal axis. The spindle assembly grabs and aligns the upper half of the torque converter. The double-end air cylinder moves the spindle assembly along the longitudinal axis and provides for the longitudinal alignment of the torque converter parts. The turntable supports and aligns the lower torque converter half. The apparatus provides for automatic welding of the first part to the second part while alignment is maintained by the spindle assembly and the turntable. During welding the turntable and the spindle assembly rotate about the longitudinal axis to move the torque converter past the stationary welding device.
