  • Patent number: 5289814
Abstract: An adjustable archery bow sight for attachment to an archery bow to facilitate archery accuracy. The adjustable archery bow sight includes a base, a carriage which is slidably mounted to the base and a mechanism connected to the base to attach the adjustable archery bow sight to the bow. A sight pin assembly is mounted to the carriage. One of the carriage and the base has a planar surface. A drive roll is mounted to the other of the base and the carriage. The drive roll has an outer circumferential surface which engages the planar surface. One of these two surfaces is knurled and non-conformable and the other of these two surfaces is softer than the knurled surface and conformable in a complementary driving manner to the knurled surface. Rotation of the drive roll about an axis of rotation causes the carriage to slide relative to the base. The adjustable archery bow sight is further provided with a rotating mechanism for rotating the drive roll.

  • Patent number: 5289344
Abstract: The lead-frame in an integrated circuit package, a standard package designated SOT-89, has a plurality of leads of which at least one is an extension of a die-attach pad. At least one ground wing is formed as an extension of a peripheral portion of the die-attach pad and extends upward to approximately the plane of the top of the die. The ground wing has an upstanding portion and a horizontal portion that are at an angle to each other so as to lock the distal end of the wing in the body of encapsulating resin. An integrated circuit die having at least one electrical connection which is grounded electrically via a terminal and wire bonded to the distal part of the ground wing. A contact surface near the distal end of wing is positioned approximately in the plane of the top of the die. This ground circuit can parallel and can be redundant to a ground circuit through the die via the conductive bond that attaches the bottom of the die to the die-attach pad.

  • Patent number: 5264255
Abstract: A system for coating articles by the use of electrostatic attraction of ionized particles which are subsequently cured. The system includes a pair of carriers for jointly carrying each article through the system, from application of the particles to the article through curing of the particles on the article. Each carrier is capable of carrying the article independently of the other. After deposition of the particles on the article, the article and the carriers are conveyed through a cleaning station wherein one of the carriers is moved out of carrying engagement with the article and cleaned while the article supported by the other carrier. The other carrier is then moved out of supporting engagement with the article and cleaned while the article is supported by the first carrier.

  • Patent number: 5264037
Abstract: An apparatus for and method of coating an article by the use of electro-static attraction of ionized particles which are subsequently cured. The apparatus includes a first foraminous conveyor for carrying the article through a powder coating zone and a second conveyor for carrying the article through a curing zone. The surface of the article which rests on the foraminous conveyor is cleaned of particles as the article is transferred from the first foraminous conveyor to the second conveyor. The first foraminous conveyor is also cleaned of particles after the article has been transferred. After the articles have been cured to form a coating on the article, the article is put through the coating system again except that the article is supported on the conveyor so that the surface which was not coated in the first pass through the system is out of contact with the conveyor.

  • Patent number: 5244799
Abstract: A hydrophilic substituent of a bicontinuous cubic phase in equilibrium is polymerized and the unpolyermized components subsequently removed and replaced with water, creating a hydrogel which is locally highly cross-linked but of high water content because of the presence of a periodic network of water-filled macropores superposed on the hydrogel matrix. The diameter of these "macropores" can be preselected between 20 Angstroms and several hundred Angstroms or even higher, and in general will be much larger than the "micropores" within the hydrogel portions of the final material. The material has high water content, good mechanical integrity and notch strength, high permeability to oxygen, and the pore size can be chosen to allow passage of molecules of pre-selected size. The material is useful as a cell culture substrate and in a contact lens and other biological and medical applications.

  • Patent number: 5238613
Abstract: A new type of polymeric microporous membrane has been synthesized which is distinguished by a highly-branched porespace morphology that is continuous and triply-periodic, and thus very precisely controlled and easily characterized. The membrane consists of a polymeric matrix containing pores of diameter on the order of 10 nm connected into a continuous pore network exhibiting long-range three-dimensional order. This long-range order is evidenced in small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) experiments by Bragg reflections that index to a triply-periodic space group, as well as in electron micrographs that match predictions from a theoretical model of the same space group and lattice parameter. The membrane combines three important features that have not been present simultaneously in any prior art membrane having pore diameters between 2 nm and 1 micron. First, the pores are identical in size and shape to a very high degree, and their size can be controlled in the synthesis.

  • Patent number: 5238036
Abstract: An adapter for a gasoline pump nozzle which is equipped with a gasoline fume return hose that extends over the rigid tubular portion of the nozzle. The hose has an outer open end which is normally aligned with the other open end of the rigid tube. The hose is resiliently compressible so that the outer end of the hose can be moved relative to the tube beyond a protuberance on the tube which is located between the outer end of the tube and the housing of the nozzle. The housing contains a valve in a trigger mechanism and a control mechanism which prevents the valve from being opened by the trigger mechanism when the hose is in its extended state but is effective to enable the valve to be opened by the trigger mechanism when the hose is compressed. The adapter has a handle in a main body portion which contains a slot in an outer opening to the slot.

  • Patent number: 5170871
Abstract: An overrunning clutch is provided with increased torque transmitting capacity by utilizing a relatively large diameter spring wire whose end turns have their radial peripheries ground down to weaken the end turns proximate to the free end of the spring. Preferably the end turns proximate to the free end of the coil spring are tapered radially inwardly to lift the spring coil turns remote from the free end off the shaft of the overrunning clutch. The end of the coil spring fixed to the bushing may be formed as a hook having a portion extending radially through a slot within the bushing and an integral bent back circumferential portion nested in an annular groove within the outer periphery of the bushing intersecting the radial slot. A double helical coil spring having parallel, adjacent turns within separate helical grooves within the inner periphery of the bushing has a loop connecting the turns opposite their free ends mounted within a transverse channel connecting the pair of helical grooves.
