Abstract: Card printing apparatus, for example, for printing identification cards, pass cards and the like generally comes with a relatively restricted size card input hopper. The number of cards that can be processed in a single operation is accordingly limited. The capacity for a single run of card printing can be materially increased without leading to card feed problems because of the increased pressure at the bottom of a stack of cards by arranging that at least part of the in-feed hopper is inclined away from the vertical. In order to maintain the footprint of the printer relatively small, the hopper preferably has two vertical sections and an intermediate inclined section.

Abstract: A metal solution-diffusion membrane of a macroporous base on which a thin metal membrane layer is formed is disclosed. In the membrane, the base includes a hollow fiber with a metal material containing an intermediate layer being formed between the hollow fiber and the metal membrane layer. The metal solution-diffusion membrane can be made with a very thin metal membrane layer with high permeability and possesses long-term stability as well as a great separation surface/volume ratio. A method for producing a metal solution-diffusion membrane in which the intermediate layer serves to provide nuclei for the subsequent currentless deposition of the metal layer is also disclosed.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a sheet of paper tissue which is embossed by an embossing cylinder of which the surface is fitted at least in part with embossing elements. The elements include a frustoconical base portion and a tip portion. The method is characterized in that the tip segment includes a flat of which the area is less than 75% of the smaller cross-sectional area of the base. Preferably the area of the flat is less than 20% of the base cross-sectional area. The invention furthermore concerns a sheet thusly manufactured and to sheets made of several plies of which at least one is a ply of the invention.

The method is distinguished in that the illumination occurs using at least two mutually coherent luminous beams (2,3) which have passed through one or a plurality of primary diffusers (8,9) respectively were reflected at one or a plurality of primary diffusers, the luminous beams (2,3) being irradiated from different directions and being at least partially superimposed on the layer (10) while forming an interference pattern. This method permits producing diffusers having a leveled scatter profile in a simple manner.
