  • Patent number: 6588264
Abstract: A pressure indicating device, e.g. for securing to a tire valve, is disclosed. The device includes a flexible impermeable diaphragm on one wall of a permanently hermetically sealed chamber is pressurized to a given pressure. A mechanical linkage moves depending on whether the pressure, e.g. in a tire to which the device is attached, is greater or less than that in the chamber, e.g., rotates a bicolored ball so that the color displayed provides a visual signal that indicates if the tire pressure is above or below the given pressure. This enables a puncture or air loss to be detected by a rapid glance.

  • Patent number: 6581472
Abstract: In the present method for monitoring and controlling a screwing process in creating a screw connection, ultrasonic pulses are coupled into the screw using a pulse-echo method before and during the tightening of the screw. The time for the pulses to traverse the length of the screw, i.e., the propagation time, is measured. A dependency of the propagation time on the predetermined tension of the screw is calculated from the material specific characteristic values of the screw and the measured propagation time. By comparing the values of a change in propagation time dependent on a parameter of the screw with the values of a change in propagation time dependent on the predetermined tension of the screw, the screwing process can be monitored.

  • Patent number: 6574427
Abstract: A container (2) adapted to avoid peak temperatures of water delivered from a heat exchanger (1) is provided with interior reinforcing means (9-11, FIG. 1; 13-13′″, FIGS. 5-18) connecting opposite parts of the wall (2′) of the container (2). Even with a thin container wall this makes it possible to use a box shaped container design without risk of deformations due to variations in the water pressure. The reinforcing means may consist of stacked interconnected plates (13-13′″)—e.g. having the same form and size as plates (12-12″) used in a plate heat exchanger connected to the container (2).

  • Patent number: 6572786
Abstract: A phosphor capable of preventing a deterioration in luminous characteristics thereof, particularly, high-temperature operation characteristics thereof due to a SiO2-containing pigment added thereto. The phosphor has a pigment contained therein, wherein the pigment has SiO2 added thereto and is melted, to thereby be coated with sodium glass. This permits gas generated during operation of the phosphor to be adsorbed on the phosphor as compared with a conventional phosphor to which the pigment subjected to the above-described treatment is not added, resulting in luminance retention of the phosphor after operation thereof being increased. In particular, it permits characteristics of the non-driven phosphor after the high-temperature operation test to be enhanced.

  • Patent number: 6568384
Abstract: The present invention is a cutting and processing method for cutting semiconductor materials such as silicon ingots, or machining grooves therein, using a wire saw, a purpose whereof is to obtain a method wherewith high-precision processed products can be stably obtained. By performing cutting processing using a slurry that is either a mixture of free abrasive particles and an oil base such as a mineral oil or a mixture of free abrasive particles and an aqueous solution base such as ethylene glycol material, the effects of improving cuttability, reducing residual processing distortion, suppressing process stress, and suppressing cutting heat can be enhanced, and it is possible to carry on cutting while eliminating the process stress (residual distortion) produced by cutting, and thus to cut low-distortion wafers.
