Abstract: This application relates to phenyl-substituted 1,2,3,4-tetrahydrocarbazoles and to their use as anti-depressant agents useful in the treatment of mental depression of either endogenous or reactive nature.
Abstract: An inhalation device of the type adapted to receive and locate an aerosol container designed to administer a multiplicity of metered doses, said aerosol container having a composition under pressure therein and having metering valve means including a valve stem and associated metering means, the valve stem having an axial discharge tube extending therethrough for discharge of a metered dose upon actuation of said metering valve means by depression of said valve stem, said inhalation device comprising a body having a skirt adapted to receive and locate said aerosol container in a first end thereof and a head-piece connected to a second end of said skirt, a mouth-piece extending from said head-piece and in communication therewith, and an audible signal generating means, said head-piece having actuating means for said metering valve means and a discharge passageway leading to a discharge orifice directed towards said mouth-piece, said actuating means being engageable with the valve stem upon location of the cont
Abstract: 1-N-(R-.beta.-amino-.alpha.-hydroxypropionyl) gentamicin B, 1-N-(R-.gamma.-amino-.alpha.-hydroxybutyryl) gentamicin B, 1-N-(R-.delta.-amino-.alpha.-hydroxyvaleryl) gentamicin B and the corresponding diastereoisomers derived from the respective S-aminohydroxy acids and the acid addition salts thereof exhibit substantial antibacterial activity, especially against strains of bacteria which are resistant to gentamicin B and acid addition salts thereof.

Abstract: Compositions for cleaning and priming a surface comprising a solution of titanium acetylacetonate; alkanol having 1 to 4 carbon atoms; alkanol selected from methylethylkeytone, methylisobutylketone, acetone and their mixture; and water. The compositions, which perform both cleaning and priming in a one-step operation, cure quickly allowing rapid painting.
Abstract: This invention relates to 1-amino naphthyridines prepared by a base-catalyzed condensation while in an aprotic solvent. In this condensation an o-alkyl aryl nitrile may be reacted either with the same or different o-alkyl aryl nitrile or with another nitrile. The 1-amino naphthyridines are useful as antifungal and antibacterial agents.
Abstract: Novel topical sun-protective PABA formulations are provided which retain good protective index levels, even after moisture exposure. These cosmetically elegant formulations contain certain fatty alcohols and nonionic surfactants, and preferably certain cellulosics.

Abstract: Disclosed is an improved process for separating 5-[1-hydroxy-2-(1-methyl-3-phenylpropylamino)ethyl]salicylamide into its two diastereoisomeric racemates; a process for converting either diastereoisomer into the other; and the use of one specified diastereoisomer as a superior antiarrhythmic agent.
Abstract: 5-[2-(Substituted-anilinoalkylamino)-1-hydroxyalkyl]-salicylamides, particularly useful as agents for the treatment of hypertension, are disclosed herein.
Abstract: Novel para-polyfluoroisopropyl-anilino-2-oxazolines and thiazolines are provided which exhibit potent antihypertensive properties without significant CNS depression.
Abstract: A safety package for an ampoule comprising a backing card, a cover sheet and an ampoule. The ampoule and the cover sheet are adapted to rupture upon the application of pressure to the backing card. The fractured segments of the ampoule are retained on the backing card, thereby minimizing the risk of glass splintering and cut fingers. After folding, the backing card provides a firm support which prevents ampoule spilling, and facilitates the filling of a syringe.
