Abstract: The methodology draws from three disciplines, namely public relations, social network analysis and computer-based information extraction. The analysis permits the visualization of how various people, organizations, products, subjects, key messages etc. are linked/form a network dynamic in media coverage. This type of analysis can assist corporations and other organizations to understand, plan and measure the effectiveness of communication.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention improve upon existing auto formatting functions for tables presented in a graphical user interface by providing an improved mechanism for changing table columns in real-time. One embodiment of the invention incorporates a callback or module in a program implementing the mechanism for changing table columns in real-time that intercepts a table column resize event and automatically resizes the other columns in the table. In resizing the table columns the module can employ various approaches. The system may utilize the various resizing approaches to arrive at a desired result.

Abstract: According to some embodiments, data to be exchanged via a system input output interface may be determined at a processor. It may then be arranged to exchange the data via a coherent input output device coupled to a coherent system interconnect. Other embodiments are described.

Abstract: A computer system is provided for selecting an asset allocation for an investment portfolio intended to produce a target payout starting at a target date. The computer system is programmed to receive inputs that may relate to the target payout, the target date and a nominal rate of contributions to the investment portfolio. The computer system calculates at least one thousand simulated investment outcomes based on assumed investment return rates and assumed inflation rates. The assumed investment return rates and assumed inflation rates are randomly selected in multi-year clusters from historical data. The computer system selects the asset allocation based on relative performance of the assumed asset allocations in the simulated investment outcomes.

Abstract: A computer system includes a data storage module. The data storage module receives, stores, and provides access to data related to long term disability claims. A proactive referral model component is coupled to the data storage module, and determines whether to refer a current claim to an investigation unit. The proactive referral model is based on at least two of the following variables: (a) a variable that indicates that the claimant's diagnosis has changed; (b) a variable that indicates that the current claim in question was brought under any-occupation coverage; (c) a variable that reflects a market segment for a policy under which the current claim in question was brought; (d) a variable that has a value based on a state in which the claimant resides; and (e) a variable that represents an amount of experience of a claims handler who handled the current claim in question.

Abstract: Enables a database generator interface configured to map complex constructs and semantics so internal complexities are hidden while providing efficient internal storage and speed. Extracts and analyzes complex relationships in database and exposes schema as XSD to allow for external interfacing. Presents a list of tables and fields that exist in database and accepts user input to determine which tables and fields to create an interface for. Lookup fields are listed which allow for user input for specifying which fields to create XSD enumeration lists for. The generated XSD file may be saved and utilized by other mapping tools to allow for interfacing with other databases. Mapping the schema of a extended SQL database allows for users with limited understanding of the internals of the extended SQL database to connect the database to other systems using commonly available tools. May be coupled with web services to provide universal access.

Abstract: One or more embodiments of the invention enable a user to search for at least one value in layers of audience specific data comprising language, regional, regulatory and/or cultural specific values per layer. The word “audience” for the purposes of this specification means a group of document consumers such as people or computers that are associated with a language, country, region, regulation or culture. A search utilizing at least one embodiment of the invention occurs with respect to data that makes use of rule-based inheritance. For a three level inheritance embodiment, there are 8 permutations involving a NULL value in at least one of the layers, instead of making the user calculate the proper mask, the Current Audience Layer mask can be logical ORed with the Primary Audience Layer Mask or the Secondary Audience Layer Mask in order to create the desired search combination.

Abstract: System or methods may include loading information associated with a window of pixels from memory into a matrix of processing elements, the window of pixels being selected from a plurality of pixels associated with a reference frame, determining a current frame comprising a plurality of pixels, determining a first block of pixels from the plurality of pixels of the current frame, comparing each pixel of the first block of pixels to each pixel of the window of pixels by comparing the first block of pixels to portions of the window of pixels in an exhaustive manner, wherein comparing comprises calculating a first deviation result for each pair of compared pixels and aggregating the first deviation results for each position of the first block of pixels in the window of pixels, the calculating being performed by the matrix of processors.

Abstract: A finite impulse response filter is implemented as a sum of individual component, running-sum filters. The sum of all of the component filters required for a desired filter response is calculated in an accumulator and only the component filters' update terms, which are the difference between a new and an old discarded sample, is calculated for each component filter. A desired impulse response is decomposed into a sum of rectangular impulse responses of equal height, each of which implemented as a running sum requiring a subtraction and an addition. Using circuits running at a multiple of the sampling clock, multiple running sums may be implemented on the same hardware. A whole filter of arbitrary impulse response shapes and lengths may be implemented using memory and two arithmetic units. Two or more such filters may be cascaded to obtain a better approximation of the desired frequency characteristic. The invention saves significant chip resources and manufacturing costs.
