Abstract: A swing-type actuator for use in a magnetic disk unit which includes a magnetic head; an arm supporting the head and a movable coil acting in a magnetic circuit. The movable coil is composed of a coil bobbin having a conductive wire wrapped around the bobbin. The bobbin is produced by injection molding into the bobbin of a thermoplastic resin having a flexural modulus of at least 8×102 kgf/mm2 and a heat deformation temperature of at least 200° C. under a load of 18.6 kg/cm2. A junction member to which the arm and the bobbin are integrally fixed by insert molding is made of the same resin as the bobbin or another thermoplastic resin being selected from the group consisting of a polybutylene terephthalate resin, a polyphenylene sulfide resin, a polyamide, a polyether ether ketone resin and thermotropic liquid crystal polymer.
Abstract: An improved on-line thermoforming machine comprises at least a loading station (2) for loading a sheet-like plastic material (in plate or coil form), at least a heating station (3), a thermoforming station (4) and a unloading station (5) for unloading the thermoformed plastic material, the heating station (3) being provided with heating ovens which, in their deactuated condition, do not cause any increase of the side size of the machine with respect to the size necessary for the heating operations. With respect to conventional on-line thermoforming machines, the inventive thermoforming machine has the advantage of a width size which is substantially a half of that of the prior machines, thereby the subject thermoforming machine can be easily transported without the need of disassembling the machine and assembling it again at the working place.
Abstract: The two ends of the girders used for the formation of modular shelves are provided with a pair of superposed fasteners wherein the inlet and outlet eyelets which circumscribe the passage slits of the fasteners, are exactly equal and coaxial with each other. The pair of fasteners, which are located near the corners of the ends of the girders, engage in restrained relation and correct vertical alignment with as many superposed indentations formed along vertical uprights of the modular shelves. The indentations and pair of fasteners have the same distance between centres and combine with each other, in stable and aligned restrained coupling, because of the equal and coaxial configuration of the sections of the passage slits of the fasteners.
Abstract: A process for producing a filament assembly composed of a thermotropic liquid crystal polymer, which comprises melt extruding a thermotropic liquid crystal polymer through an orifice nozzle into a high-speed fluid to thereby hold filaments spun right under the spinning nozzle at a high temperature, so that the filaments are taken up at a high draft ratio by the frictional force of the high-speed fluid.

Abstract: A liquid composition used for dissolving fingernail polishes contains three non-miscible liquid phases which, when the composition is left still, are superimposed one on the other. The upper phase is oily. The intermediate phase is the solvent phase and contains a solvent immiscible with water and a small amount of a solvent miscible with water. The composition contains 8-40% of water and at least one polymeric glycol. By agitation, an emulsion is formed which is applied on the fingernails.

Abstract: A process for the production of an alloy based on gold, the titer of gold being between 8 and 22 karats, comprises three phases. In the first phase, copper and titanium are subjected to fusion forming a first fused product. In the second phase, the metallic product obtained in the first phase is fused with the other components of the alloy, including silver and zinc, except gold, and in the third phase, the metallic product obtained in the second phase is fused with gold. The alloy is free of nickel and cobalt and may contain other elements in small amounts such as silicon, boron, indium, iridium and ruthenium. The amount of titanium at the most is 1%.
Abstract: There is provided a front piece for spectacles, particularly protective spectacles and sport goggles, the front piece for spectacles being adapted for commercialization with a kit of interchangeable lenses in order to adapt for many uses of the spectacles. The front piece for spectacles includes a pair of adjoining rims each formed of inner and outer lateral sides and an interconnecting lower arch having a groove formed in the lateral sides and lower arch for receiving a corresponding lens. The groove is interrupted by a locking pip so that upon bending the front piece slightly a lens can be removed or inserted by articulation with the locking pip. An upper arch is disposed between the lateral sides of the rim and adjacent the plane defined by the groove in the lateral sides and lower arch of the rim. The upper arch may have a design in the form of writing, etc. in relief so as to aerate the lens.
Abstract: There is provided a sea going barge train or modular tanker vessel for ocean transportation of cargo, such as oil or other dry or liquid materials, consisting of a forward traction unit, a rear powered caboose unit and a series of modular units or barges interposed therebetween wherein the units are serially and flexibly interconnected by means of a universal type coupling which permits relative limited yaw, pitch and roll movement between units. The hull of each barge unit is substantially semi-cylindrically shaped so that the hull immersed section is circular and the barge units are detachably coupled to each other fore and aft and to the traction and caboose units at the circle center of the circle segment defined by the hull cross section so that hull continuity of the barge train is maintained as the barge units roll relative to each other.
Abstract: A process for the synthesis of 13-cis-retinoic acid with high purity and stability, without using heavy metals at any steps, starting from vinyl-beta-ionol prepared from ionone and vinyl magnesium halides.
Abstract: The method to produce itaconic acid is a solid-state fermentation method. Sugarcane pressmud or peeled sugarcane pressmud is the support used to adsorb liquid medium for the production of itaconic acid by an Aspergillus terreus mutant strain. This mutant strain was derived from Aspergillus terreus ATCC 10020 by successive mutation. Beside the remaining sucrose in the sugarcane pressmud, other carbon source can be added, i.e. glucose, fructose, sucrose, or starch hydrolysate. Appropriate amounts of nitrogen source, such as ammonium nitrate, or ammonium sulfate are added. Mineral salts, such as potassium dihydrogen phosphate, magnesium sulfate, calcium sulfate, ferric chloride, zinc sulfate, and copper sulfate can be added to the medium. The suitable amount of liquid medium that can be added to the support is 4 to 6 times its dry weight for the sugarcane pressmud and 8 to 14 times its dry weight for the peeled sugarcane pressmud. The optimal pH of the medium is between 2.0-3.0.
