  • Patent number: 4490920
Abstract: A guide clamp is disclosed which includes a clamping jaw at one end of a guide bar. An opposing shifting jaw is slidably carried on the guide bar to permit a workpiece to be embraced by the jaws. A pull rod associated with and parallel to the guide bar is connected to a lever on the clamp jaw. The shifting jaw locks onto this pull rod when the jaws embrace a workpiece and actuation of the lever then pulls the jaws together to clamp onto the workpiece and hold the guide clamp thereon. The shifting jaw will lock onto the pull rod by engaging a smooth-surfaced pull rod with a frictional grip or by engaging threads or notches on the pull rod with a locking grip. Guideways to guide and hold tools, jigs and the like are provided on the guide bar.

  • Patent number: 4485580
Abstract: A reel mount assembly of cylindrical structure includes a cylindrical body having a stationary sleeve mounted on one end and a slidable sleeve mounted on the other end having a male thread over a certain range, and a threaded annular member adapted to mate with the male thread. The slidable sleeve is engaged with the threaded annular member in such a manner that they are rotatable with each other. At the engagement position the annular member is fitted over the slidable sleeve, and vice versa. The outer member has a rigidity sufficient to prevent its expansion, and the inner member is contractive inwardly due to its resiliency.

  • Patent number: 4480726
Abstract: An arrangement for automatic adjustment of a braking gap in a drum brake of the type in which a pair of brake shoes is expanded (moved away from each other) into engagement with the inside face of a brake drum. A brake lever abuts at its one end upon one brake shoe to cause extension of the shoe. A support shaft is extensible at a right angle with the brake lever and includes a portion tapered in its extending direction. An adjusting lever is loosely inserted over the support shaft and has its one end abutting upon one end face of the brake lever. An adjusting gear for permitting extension of an adjusting member engages with the other pawl-shaped end of the adjusting lever. A compression spring is interposed between the extended head of the support shaft and the adjusting lever. A predetermined load applied on the spring causes the adjusting lever to be biased toward the brake lever and urged against the tapered face of the support shaft.

  • Patent number: 4479450
Abstract: In order to make possible a "self-docking" of a floating dock, the dock is divided into a middle pontoon and two end pontoons, which are interconnectable in alternative positions in the vertical direction, so either the middle pontoon, or the end pontoons may be lifted out of the water. The pontoons are held together by bolts, which are accessible from cofferdam-like spaces, formed when two pontoons are fitted together, and which may be maintained watertight. Male and female coupling members are furthermore provided to secure the pontoons in their two operative positions. During a disconnecting and connecting operation the pontoons are guided by rigid link arms, chains or the like.

  • Patent number: 4478255
Abstract: Velvet which has been woven in a double layer passes between a table and a rule before the pile threads are cut by a knife in order to separate the two layers. The rule is suspended from a reinforcement bar by means of two anchoring points located at a distance from the ends of the rule, thus reducing the deflection of the rule and achieving enhanced uniformity in the height of velvet pile threads.

  • Patent number: 4474007
Abstract: Outlet and inlet conduits of an internal combustion engine are united in, and carry a housing enclosing a rotor spool having one turbine and one compressor wheel. A cavity in the housing, the longitudinal axis of which is substantially parallel to a middle plane through the row of engine cylinders is adapted to receive the casing of the turbocharger, and may be designed in such a manner that the casing may be slid into the housing in the axial directions, without the housing having to be removed from the engine. Alternatively, the outlet and the inlet conduits may each, per se, be collected and form one half of the housing. The halves are brought together over the rotor spool, from both ends thereof. Resilient sealing members are preferably fitted between the two halves of the housing. A second exhaust gas turbine may be connected to the exhaust conduit from the supercharger, and may be adapted to drive at the power take-off shaft of the engine, or to drive some auxiliary.

  • Patent number: 4470261
Abstract: At a low part load, and at idling of a vehicle machinery it is difficult to obtain a good fuel economy and acceptable emission rates. The amount of work for driving the compressor and the auxiliary apparatuses is considerable in a gas turbine, and in view of the conditions mentioned the combustor of the gas turbine is provided with two burners, of which one is dimensioned for a fuel quantity which merely corresponds to "spare-flame" operation. An auxiliary motor is included in the machinery and keeps together with the "spare-flame" burner, the main rotor of the gas turbine running at idling and part-load. The auxiliary motor may be an electric motor.

  • Patent number: 4469008
Abstract: A negative pressure type booster arrangement comprises a pair of booster shells divided by a booster piston disposed therein for reciprocating movement into a constantly negative pressure chamber and a variable pressure chamber. The second chamber is always put in interchangeable communication with the first chamber via a control valve mechanism. An input rod is retractively connected to the booster piston, and is also connected to the valve control mechanism for permitting the booster piston to follow advancement of the input rod due to a difference in air pressure between both chambers. An input transmitting lever is mounted on the rear end of the input rod. A first arm is provided for supporting an operating lever extending successively from the booster shells and for pivotally supporting one end of the input transmitting lever, and a second arm is provided for supporting an operating wire.

  • Patent number: 4452109
Abstract: In a multi-spindle lathe, the centers of the spindles are arranged offset one above the other at right angles to the plane of the bed slide and the chucks are arranged offset in the longitudinal direction of the lathe. Each turret is fitted on a cross slide, the pivot axes of the turrets likewise running one above the other transversely of the plane of the bed slide, corresponding to the spindle centers. Due to these measures, the lathe is of relative small construction and offers the advantage that the cutting process can easily be observed and that there are no space problems as regards the turrets.
