  • Patent number: 4449648
Abstract: A mobile spreader unit comprises a tractor and a detachable hopper. The latter is defined by tapering front and rear walls and has a breadth permitting it to fit in between the rear wheels of the tractor. There is an elongate spreader opening in the bottom of the hopper, and an agitator adjacent to the mechanism driven by a roller to be brought into contact with one of the rear wheels of the tractor. Pivots at the front wall of the hopper are attachable to brackets at the tractor, and are located so the point of gravity of the hopper tends to tilt it away from the tractor. In its furthermost tilted position the rear wall will be substantially parallel to the ground, and the hopper may then be used to scoop up particulate material to be spread. A pressure fluid actuator raises the hopper to an upright position, in which finally the roller contacts the rear wheel of the tractor and drives the agitator.

  • Patent number: 4447223
Abstract: A pistol-shaped medicament implant applicator with a needle mounted on the forward end thereof, and a multichambered medicament cartridge adapted for insertion into the implant applicator wherein the applicator mechanism:transports a plunger through one of the medicament containing chambers in the cartridge into the implant needle and forces medicament out the needle front;moves the needle relative to an abutment on the front face of the applicator adapted to be held against the skin of the animal being implanted, the relative movement forcing withdrawal of the needle, resulting in deposition of the medicament in the needle track;retracts the plunger so as to clear needle and cartridge; and, shifts the cartridge the spacing between adjacent chambers therein and indexes the next medicament containing cartridge chamber to the needle bore and the path of the plunger.

  • Patent number: 4444090
Abstract: In a hydraulic piston actuator the supply of working fluid is governed by at least one servo valve of the three-gate type, the spring-loaded valve body of which is activated by a thermowire adapted normally to hold the valve body in a position to close-off the supply of fluid. One end of the thermowire is connected to a compensating device, goverened by the movement of the actuator piston in such a manner that thermal movements are partly counteracted. The servo valve may actuate a maximum switch, and a time relay will, after a predetermined period of time put the fluid pump out of action, and connect both sides of a double acting actuator with a return flow tank.

  • Patent number: 4438871
Abstract: A dispenser for pasty substances and/or liquids has two coaxially arranged metering pistons 11,24 which supply charges of material from two coaxially arranged pump chambers 14,23 through ejection channels 19,26 into an ejection chamber 20. The material can emerge from ejection chamber 20 through an outlet 4. This outlet 4 is controlled by means of plug 21 biassed in closing direction. When the metering pistons 11,24 are on their suction strokes material passes from the supply tanks 17,27 which are likewise arranged coaxially one inside the other. Such a configuration yields a dispenser which consists in essence of two separate dispensers, one inside the other. The two streams of material combine directly ahead of the outlet 4.

  • Patent number: 4436050
Abstract: In order to simplify the construction and to reduce the resistance to flow, and to provide a high amount of inertia in relation to all essential axes, an offshore vessel comprises two parallel under-water bodies, four columns mounted symmetrically thereupon, and a multi-deck box-like structure interconnecting the upper ends of the columns. This structure will increase the strength of the vessel so only one horizontal, transverse stay is required between each pair of columns. Below each column there is a 360.degree.-turnable shrouded propeller, which together can hold the vessel stationary, with a vertical line of symmetry in a desired position, for instance above a borehole. The box structure is outwardly completely closed at the bottom and sideplating, and will, in case of need, retain the vessel floating.

  • Patent number: 4434601
Abstract: A heat insulated roof structure is composed of parallel beams between which a non-combustible, foraminous supporting structure is fitted. The supporting structure may be lengths of wire net, but on occasions glass-fiber fabric may be sufficient. A first layer of heat insulating material rests upon the support structure, the thickness thereof being less than one third of the total insulation thickness. On top of the first insulating layer a diffusion barrier, preferably a sheet of plastics foil, is spread, the sheet having a breadth sufficient to extend un-broken over two adjacent beams. A second layer of heat insulation material is located on top of the barrier, and uppermost there is a watertight sheeting, usually of metal plate. The thicknesses of the two layers of insulation material is selected so a slight compression occurs when the watertight sheeting is fitted, whereby air pockets below the sheeting are avoided.

  • Patent number: 4418808
Abstract: A centrifugal clutch brake for farm work machinery or other apparatus is provided comprising a member attached rotatably to an output shaft extending from a member fixed to an engine mounting, a clutch plate disposed between a drum rotatably together with said output shaft and the fixed member, a disc plate mounted on the clutch plate in face-to-face relation to the fixed member, a brake plate disposed between the disc plate and the clutch plate toward the fixed plate, a clutch spring provided for biasing the clutch plate toward the drum, and a fly-weight mounted on the clutch plate. The fly-weight is adapted to be expanded by a centrifugal force until it is placed in engagement with the drum. With such an arrangement, when a push is given to the brake plate against the pressure spring, the disc plate is spaced away from the fixed member with subsequent disengagement of the brake plate out of the disc plate, thereby urging the fly-weight upon the drum .

  • Patent number: 4417551
Abstract: In order to improve the fuel economy of a vehicle engine, its cylinders are divided into two groups, which are operable independently of each other. The fuel system is adapted to supply either, or both groups with fuel. The crank shaft of one cylinder group is connectable to the power take-off shaft by means of conventional transmission and clutch means, while the crank shaft of the other cylinder group is connectable to the power take-off shaft by way of a transmission arrangement running in parallel to the row of cylinders, and comprising a shaft. The auxiliaries of the engine are mounted at the end of the engine remote from the power take-off shaft, and can be driven from either group of cylinders by way of the transmission arrangement.
