    Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program product are disclosed to enable independent verification of service level agreement between two parties. In one embodiment, a first party contracts the hosting service of a second party to provide said first party with Web page and services on second party's equipment. Said contract contains a Service Level Agreement specifying performance parameters and guarantees for the response time experienced by users of said Web page and services. Independent verification by a third party of said agreement is done for a fee through several steps. In a first step, said third party inserts measuring and reporting instructions into blocks of information maintained on the server of said second party. The measuring instructions are for delivery to the client with the blocks of information. The delivery of the instructions occurs responsive to a request for the information by the client. Once they are delivered, the instructions are executed by the client.

The second timing circuitry has a latch and an edge detector with respective latch and edge detector data inputs coupled to a data output of the at least one stage of logic circuitry. The processor(s) of each system or blade may communicate with the peripheral bus through an intermediate bus controller. The bus controller may include facilities, such as registers that define a starting address, suitable for defining a window in the blade's system memory that is available or visible to other processors (or masters) on the bus. One or more of the bus controllers may be configured to read information that uniquely identifies each system or blade. The bus controller may use this identification information to define the window in the blade's system memory that is visible to other processors. In an embodiment where each blade is connected to a PCI bus through a CompactPCI® connector, the identification information may be read from the geographic address (GA) pins on the system's J2 connector.

The virtual address locations are divided into two non-overlapping regions, namely, an architecturally visible virtual memory region and a behavioral virtual memory region. The behavioral address generator generates a behavioral virtual memory address associated with the behavioral virtual memory region.     Abstract: A distributed computing system having (host and I/O) end nodes, switches, routers, and links interconnecting these components is provided. The end nodes use send and receive queue pairs to transmit and receive messages. The end nodes use completion queues to inform the end user when a message has been completely sent or received and whether an error occurred during the message transmission or reception process. A mechanism implements these queue pairs and completion queues in hardware. A mechanism for controlling the transfer of work requests from the consumer to the CA hardware and work completions from the CA hardware to the consumer using head and tail pointers that reference circular buffers is also provided. The QPs and CQs do not contain Work Queue Entries and Completion Queue Entries respectively, but instead contain references to these entries.

The initial ownership of the cache line is marked by a weak DMA state (D1), which indicates that the cache line is being held for writing to the memory, but that the cache line cannot yet force a retry of snooped operations.

Upon detecting a failure in one of the attached processors, the system is configured to disable the non-functional processor and enable the redundant processor. The attached processors may be connected to a memory interface unit via a parallel bus or a pipelined bus in which each attached processor is connected to a stage of the pipelined bus. The attached processors may each include a load/store unit and logic suitable for performing a mathematical function.

When the cache line is in the first coherency state, subsequent requests for the cache line is issued as a Z1 read on a system bus and one of two responses are received.

DMA_Write_No_Data is an address-only operation on the system bus that is utilized to acquire ownership of a cache line that is to be written. The ownership of the cache line is marked by a weak DMA state, which indicates that the cache line is being held for writing to the memory, but that the cache line cannot yet force a retry of snooped operations. When each preceding DMA Write operation has completed or each corresponding DMA_Write_No_Data operation has been placed in a DMA Exclusive state, then the weak DMA state is changed to a DMA Exclusive state, which forces a retry of snooped operations until the write transaction to memory is completed.

Fabrication also includes forming lateral regions (20, 22) on both lateral sides of this device body (17). These lateral regions (20, 22) are formed from a second semiconductor material. A dielectric layer (28) is formed over both lateral regions (20, 22) and the device body (17), while an anode layer (30) is formed over the dielectric layer in an area defined by the device body. Each lateral region (20, 22) is coupled to ground at a first end (25) of the elongated device body (17). The anode (30) is coupled to the chip supply voltage at a second end (33) of the device body opposite to the first end. The entire structure is designed and dimensioned to form an area-efficient and high-frequency capacitor.

Each direct memory access controller comprises an address translation mechanism thereby enabling each associated attached processing unit to access the shared memory in a restricted manner without an address translation mechanism. Each attached processing unit is configured to issue a request to an associated direct memory access controller to access the shared memory specifying a range of addresses to be accessed as virtual addresses. The associated direct memory access controller is configured to translate the range of virtual addresses into an associated range of physical addresses.

    Abstract: In one embodiment a multiprocessing apparatus includes a first processor and a second processor. Each of the processors have their own data and instruction caches to support independent operation. In a normal mode the processors independently execute separate instruction streams. Each of the processors has a respective signature generator. The system also includes a compare unit coupled to the signature generators. In a high reliability mode, both processors execute the same instruction stream. That is, each processor computes a version of a result for ones of the instructions in the stream. Responsive to the respective versions, the respective signature generators assert signatures to the compare unit, so that a faulting instruction may be detected. In another aspect, each processor has its own respective commit logic.

Decoding the encoded signal at each circuit (104, 105, 106) in the group involves comparing the encoded signal to a particular reference voltage from a set of reference voltages. A particular reference voltage used in this comparison may be selected using one or more digital signals already decoded from the encoded signal.

    Abstract: A method and systems for projecting an image onto a screen in high ambient light. The image is composed as pixels comprising selected intensities of preselected bands of visible light. The pixels are created by modulating three frequencies of light corresponding to hues in the red, green, and blue spectrum. The modulated light selectively generates pixels of a frame of the image. A diffusive projection screen has a triple bandpass light filter surface that selectively transmits preselected bands of light frequencies around the red, green, and blue spectrums of the modulated light source. The triple bandpass light filter is used with projection screens in front and rear projection systems. The hues of red, green, and blue may be generated from LEDs or from extracting the frequencies from a broadband source. The modulator system may comprise a time multiplexed single modulator design or a triple modulator design.

The precompensating driver generates the precompensating pulse only in response to a transition from one data state to a second data state between consecutive data bits. The precompensating data pulse is shorter in duration than the non-precompensating output data. The output data from the data drive is the sum of the non-precompensating output data pulse and the precompensating output data pulse.
