  • Patent number: 4969855
Abstract: A torsion damping device for automotive vehicles, which comprises three coaxial parts (A, B, C) mounted rotatably with respect to each other against the action of circumferentially acting resilient springs, the second part (B) comprises two damper plates (12, 12') which, independently of each other, each comprise an annular member around the hub (10) which constitutes the first part (A), with, between them and the hub (10), relative rotational displacement devices which are arranged alternately as between one damper plate and the other. Circumferentially acting resilient springs (23, 23'), separate from each other, are interposed between, on the one hand, the hub (10) and one of the damper plates (12, 12'), and on the other hand, between the hub (10) and the other damper plate (12', 12).

  • Patent number: 4969845
Abstract: An electric terminal connector comprises a generally tubular metal part adapted to fit over the previously bared end of the conductive core of an insulated electric conductor. An insulative sleeve has a front portion adapted to be engaged with this metal part and a rear portion larger than the front portion adapted to fit over the corresponding end of the insulation of the electric conductor. The insulative sleeve comprises a transverse shoulder on its inside. The rear portion of the metal part is straight and its end is adapted to bear on this transverse shoulder. There is at least locally between the metal part and the insulative sleeve a film of adhesive which fastens them together. In line with at least the transverse shoulder the internal surface of the insulative sleeve has a diameter at most equal to that of the inside surface of the metal part.

  • Patent number: 4967920
Abstract: This relates to a closure for containers wherein the closure is provided with a tamper indicating member. However, in lieu of the tamper indicating member being in the form of a continuous band which remains on the container neck after the closure is removed, the closure indicating member is of a limited circumferential extent filling a notch in a band extending from the closure skirt in lieu of a conventional tamper indicating band. This band does not interlock with the container. Only the tamper indicating member interlocks with the container, which container is provided with the normal tamper bead. The tamper indicating member is attached to the lower edge of the closure skirt by axial bridges and two opposite ends of the band by circumferential bridges. The bridges may all rupture when the closure is removed from the container with the tamper indicating member dropping out and leaving a readily observable notch in the band.

  • Patent number: 4966543
Abstract: This relates to blow molded plastic containers wherein at least the body of such containers is of a laminated construction including, for example, a barrier layer which in the case of the container receiving carbonated products would be a gas barrier layer. It has been found that delamination does occur and this is now solved by selectively providing the container body with minute vent openings which do not extend entirely through the container body, but into that area where delamination occurs and there is an accumulation of a permeant, such as CO.sub.2. The minute vents may be formed in the exterior wall of the container either by way of piercing pins or by utilizing a laser. In the case of the piercing pins, there are incorporated in the blow mold for blow molding the container from a preform and are generally placed along the parting lines of the blow mold and also in central parts of the wall. The construction and operation of the piercing pins may be provided in several forms.

  • Patent number: 4964669
Abstract: This relates to a foldable cover for a truck bed, particularly pickup truck beds. The foldable top includes a bed rail which may be readily secured to the truck bed and the bed rail carries a pair of transversely aligned primary support hinges which serve as the sole support for the foldable support frame. The support frame is formed of a plurality of generally U-shaped frame members with only a rearwardly extending frame member being pivotally connected to the primary hinges and the connection between lower rear ends of a front frame member being carried by forward lower ends of the rear frame member in a manner wherein the bottom ends of the forward frame member move rearwardly as the support frame is folded from an upright cover supporting position to a collapsed position whereby a cross bar of the front frame member moves substantially in a vertical plane so as to clear at all times the rear of a truck cap.

  • Patent number: 4964813
Abstract: A branch connection accessory device for an insulated branch cable to be connected to an insulated main cable comprises a two-part clamping system. This is adapted to clamp the branch cable between the two parts, at least a first of which is electrically conductive. An insulated conductor appendix is factory-fitted, electrically connected and mechanically joined to the first part. It is adapted to be connected to a non-separate branch connector having two jaws, to one of which the appendix is connected and the other of which is connected to the main cable. An insulative seal envelops the device, a hole in the seal providing access to the first part. A well in the seal in line with the other part enable the latter to be operated. The device therefore constitutes a sealed, insulative branch connection accessory device.

  • Patent number: 4954376
Abstract: A plastic preform from which a plastic container is blow molded. The preform replaces a three layer preform by providing a preform which is of a five layer construction in the base forming portion thereof and wherein a secondary material which forms the core layer of the three layer preform construction is divided into an inner intermediate layer and an outer intermediate layer by a third injection of material. The third injected material is preferably the same material as the primary material which is first injected. This results in the reduction of the cost of the preform and also provides remaining in the injection nozzle a quantity of the last injected material which is the same as the first injected material for the following preform in the same preform injection mold cavity.

  • Patent number: 4950143
Abstract: It has been found that when layered preforms are being injection molded utilizing at least two materials, it is possible to maintain the same horizontal and vertical pitch of adjacent cavities as is possible when each mold cavity is being filled with a single material. Most particularly, it has been found that when the percentage of the material to be injected into a mold cavity is relatively high, it is possible to utilize a single metering pot for four adjacent mold cavities. On the other hand, if one of the materials to be injected into a mold cavity constitutes a relatively low percentage of the volume of a mold cavity, it has been found that a small metering pot must be provided for each of the cavities of the four cavity mold.
