Abstract: A liquid-cooled internal combustion engine having a piston-controlled exhaust, particularly a two-stroke cycle internal combustion engine, is provided with a generator or a magneto-generator unit and with a lubricating oil pump. The cylinder head is provided with a cap, which defines a space for cooling liquid and extends over the cylinder approximately as far as to the exhaust port and at its end that is adjacent to the crankshaft has a sealing surface. In order to minimize the transmission of solid-borne sound and the radiation of sound, the cap and the cover for the oil pump are secured by means of collar screws, which have been tightened against a stop, and a washer provided with a vulcanization-bonded rubber layer is disposed between the head of each of said screws and the cap or the cover.
Abstract: An intake muffler, which is particularly intended for use in two-stroke-cycle internal combustion engines, comprises a stiff housing, in which a partition defines two chambers. An inlet tube extends into the larger first chambr. At least two communicating tubes extend through the partiton. The second chamber communicates with a tubular outlet port. In order to ensure an effective damping of sound even in conjunction with a high engine power, the inlet tube consists of a diffuser, which is divided into two or more passages, and the tubes through which the two chambers communicate with each other differ in diameter and/or in length.
Abstract: A composite semiconductive thermoelectric refrigerating module comprises dozens or hundreds composite P-N couples which are electrically connected in series to form an array of required configuration which is fixed with electrical and thermal insulator and combined with the heat absorber and a thermal radiator, respectively, by thermoconductive greased films of electrical insulation. The refrigerating device is characterized by a good conductor sandwiched between the semiconductor head parts of a thermoelectric element by surface-to-surface brazing. This device can be substituted for small sized vapor compression refrigerating devices. The first embodiment of the invention is of circular configuration, while the second embodiment is rectangular. Other embodiments of specific configurations in accordance with requirements can also be constructed.
Abstract: The invention relates to an improved method for removing point defects and oint defect clusters from semiconductor discs, which defects impair the quality of electronic components or structural elements made from such discs. According to the invention, prior to polishing, the semiconductor discs are immersed in a bath containing grains moving in a streaming carrier medium of the bath. One side of the discs are then polished and thereafter the discs are subjected to oxidation processes whereby stacking faults are induced in the rear side of the discs. These stacking faults have an excellent gettering effect on the point defects.

Abstract: A continuously advancing track maintenance machine for compacting ballast comprises a self-propelled machine frame supported on the track for continuous advancement, a power-driven and vertically adjustable track stabilization assembly mounted on the machine frame and comprising rail engaging roller tools, a drive for spreading the roller tools into engagement with the gage sides of the rails, and vibrating means for imparting oscillations to the roller tools in a direction extending substantially in a horizontal plane transversely to the longitudinal machine frame extension whereby the roller tools engaging the rails transmit the oscillations to the track, a device for measuring the amplitudes of the horizontal oscillations, and a reference system for monitoring the track level between an actual level of the track and a desired level thereof.

Abstract: A float includes a substantially prismatic hollow body, which is made of plastic and which is provided at its side walls, preferably adjacent to its side edges, with connectors for use in assembling a plurality of such floats. In order to reduce the manufacturing costs and to ensure a steady floating behavior, the hollow body is open at its bottom and is formed in its walls with at least one vent hole, which is spaced above the bottom level of the hollow body.

Abstract: A pneumatic centrifugal separator comprises guide vanes disposed along the generatrices of a fictitious cylinder having a vertical axis, the guide vanes being adapted to impart to a gas stream entering the fictitious cylinder a rotary motion about the vertical cylinder axis, and a rotor coaxially positioned in the interior of the fictitious cylinder, the rotor being equipped with a first set of vertical blades distributed uniformly along the periphery of the fictitious cylinder and a second set of blades disposed between the blades of the first set and the cylinder axis. A gas stream and particulate material to be sorted is introduced between the guide vanes and the rotor, and the gas stream charged with particles of dimensions smaller than predetermined dimensions and sorted out of the particulate material is drawn out of a central outlet. The second set of blades is arranged to guide the streams of gas coming through channels between adjacent vertical blades of the first set to the central outlet.
Abstract: For the production of a nonwoven web from a primary nonwoven web a conventional carding drum is used as well as a collecting surface, on which a vacuum is applied and which is continuously moved and serves to collect the fibers flying from the carding drum. In order to ensure desirable conditions for the entrainment of the fibers flying off, the fibrous covering on the carding drum is sucked from consecutive layers on consecutive portions of the surface of the drum so as to from partial streams of fibers in suction passages between the carding drum and the collecting surface.

Abstract: In an apparatus for needling a web, which apparatus comprises a brushlike web support consisting of individual brush plates, it is desired to substantially eliminate an influence of the joints between the brush plates on the surface pattern of the needled nonwoven web. To that end the bristle tufts of those rows of tufts which extend adjacent to and along the joints between the brush plates are carried individually or in groups in alternation by the two brush plates which are disposed on opposite sides of the joint.

Abstract: A process is disclosed for controlling the furnace temperature in a manufacture of phenolic resin-treated honeycomb structures from paper webs. The phenolic resin-treated honeycomb structures from the paper webs are, preferably, glued together and shaped to a body. Such body is immersed into a solution of a phenolic resin mixture and subsequently dried and cured in an indirectly heated furnace. The immersion and drying/curing steps may be repeated several times and take place at a temperature in the range of 70.degree. C. to 110.degree. C., except for the last drying/curing step, which takes place at a temperature in the range of 145.degree. C. to 155.degree. C. For controlling the temperature, the substances contained in an air mixture exiting from the furnace are preferably condensed and subjected to fractionated distillation with the temperature of the furnace preferably being adjusted, based upon the quantities of organic and/or inorganic compounds obtained.

Abstract: A thermoplastic tape is wrapped around a package and is tightened by the disclosed strapping or banding apparatus. The ends of the plastic tape can be welded together by a combined strapping and sealing apparatus or even with a separate sealing apparatus. The strapping apparatus includes a positioning system which ensures that a slotted wheel intended for tightening the plastic tape, once the operating cycle is complete, always assumes an optimum position for the re-insertion of the plastic tape. The use of the strapping apparatus is thereby substantially facilitated, since the operator normally does not have any hands free to adjust the slotted wheel that would otherwise be necessary for tape insertion.
