Patent number: 5073172Abstract: A suction bottle for aspirating would secretions containing a small quantity of a pressure-adjusting liquid selected so that its vapor pressure conforms to a desired vacuum level. The vacuum level is maintained until the suction bottle is almost completely filled. If the liquid dissolves in the aspirated secretions, the vacuum level will decrease. The vacuum level can be varied by changing the temperature. The bottled can be made with thinner walls than bottles used heretofore because the risk of deformation during sterilizing is reduced as the inside pressure rises with the increase in temperature. For the purpose of connecting a suction bottle with a connecting tube joined with a wound draining system, provision is made for a connection system embodied as a suction controlling device.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 1989Date of Patent: December 17, 1991Assignee: Medinorm Aktiengesellschaft medizintechnische ProdukteInventor: Helmut Fell

Patent number: 5067358Abstract: Four shafts fitted with eccentric weights are arranged as four parallel lines with one pair placed immediately above the other pair and the ends of each are fitted with a notched driving roller. A double-notched belt driven by a motor passes alternatively under and above the rollers for the first pair of shafts, around a return, and above and under the rollers for the second pair of shafts. Idler rollers are associated with each shaft to ensure that the belt moves properly. By means of a slide, the motor and the return can be moved laterally in relation to the shaft lines, thereby permitting the continuous adjustment of the relative position of the eccentric weights for each pair of shafts. Therefore, the level of the resulting force of vibration is adjustable to between a maximum value and a zero value.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 1990Date of Patent: November 26, 1991Assignee: Etablissements Balbinot S.A.Inventor: Daniel M. Patent number: 5065481Abstract: The shank of the clamping device is connected to the actuating element via a freewheel and is supported on the cover via a counteracting further freewheel. Located on the shank fixedly in the terms of rotation and displacement is the first coupling part which interacts with a second coupling part mounted at a fixed location. The latter is connected to the winding-up element for the clamping cables via a bevel gear. Formed on the actuating element is a slot-shaped groove which slides along the fixed guide pin during the pivoting of the actuating element. For tensioning the clamping cables, the actuating element is pivoted in such a way that the groove part is located at the guide pine. The shank is thereby lifted into the upper clamping position and the coupling is closed. During the pivoting of the actuating element to and fro, the clamping cables are wound onto the winding-up element.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 1990Date of Patent: November 19, 1991Assignee: Raichle Sportschuh AGInventor: Klaus Walkhoff

Patent number: 5065634Abstract: A method for determining the surface area of a material by using the dynamic flow method, by continuously passing a stream of a gaseous mixture of known and constant composition consisting of an adsorbate such as nitrogen and an inert gaseous diluent such as helium in contact at a constant pressure with a measured sample of the material at a temperature at which neither the inert diluent nor the adsorbate is appreciably adsorbed by the sample. Then, while continuing said stream, the sample is cooled to a temperature at which adsorption of the adsorbate by the sample selectively takes place. Using a detector, one continuously measures the decrease in the concentration of the adsorbate in the stream, down stream of the sample, during the cooling and until equilibrium is re-established. By using a sensing circuit, one integrates the measured decrease in concentration of the adsorbate over the period of cooling until the equilibrium is re-established.Type: GrantFiled: September 10, 1990Date of Patent: November 19, 1991Inventor: Howard Jennings

Patent number: 5066640Abstract: The invention relates to phenylethyl o-methylcinnamate and a process for its preparation. Phenylethyl o-methylcinnamate is prepared by, first, alkylating ethyl acetoacetate with o-methylbenzyl chloride in the presence of a phase transfer catalyst to yield 2-(o-methylbenzyl)-acetoacetate. Thereafter the 2-(o-methylbenzyl)-acetoacetate yielded in the alkylating step is halogenated to yield ethyl 2-halo-2-(o-methylbenzyl)-acetoacetate. This is followed by degarding the ethyl 2-halo-2-(o-methylbenzyl)-acetoacetate acid. Finally the o-methylcinnamic acid obtained in the degarding step is esterified with 2-phenylethanol into phenylethyl o-methylcinnamate. A fragrance composition utilizing phenylethyl o-methylcinnamate is also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: May 11, 1989Date of Patent: November 19, 1991Assignee: Consortium fur elektrochemische Industrie GmbHInventors: Erdmuthe Voss, Werner Moschinsky, Doris Hofmann-Moritz
