  • Patent number: 6976499
Abstract: A unitary removable barrier for installation in a cylindrical water line to selectively block the water line to passage of water therethrough. The unitary removable barrier is composed of a single piece body having at least one cylindrical section sized to receive upstream and downstream pipes of the water line. A planar disk is molded with the cylindrical section and is of a circular circumference which completely blocks the water line but which is selectively removable from the cylindrical section thus removing the barrier to the passage of water through the line. Removal of the barrier is facilitated through the use of a piercing device and pull tab which can be actuated from a position outside of the waste line.

  • Patent number: 6935388
Abstract: A coolant transfer machine for an automotive engine includes first and second fluid transfer systems. The first system, operated when the engine is not running, sequentially first removes at least a substantial portion of used coolant from the engine. The first system then collects in a used fluid container the used coolant as the used coolant is being removed and then replaces the removed used coolant with new coolant from a new fluid container. The second system, operated when the engine is running, simultaneously displaces at least a substantial portion of used coolant in the engine with new coolant from the new fluid container and collects the displaced used coolant in the used fluid container. A manually operable switch has a first position that enables operation of the first fluid transfer system and a second position that enables operation of the second fluid transfer system.

  • Patent number: 6928960
Abstract: A non-lethal method of cock fighting includes providing each gamecock (12a, 12b) with a garment such as a vest (16a, 16b) or collar (100a, 100b) that at least partially covers the body of the gamecock and carries a sensor (19a-19e, 103-107) at a predetermined location on the garment and a signal transmission device (20). The signal transmission device generates a signal when the sensor is struck by a gamecock. The spurs (12c) of each gamecock are covered with a protective device (60) to prevent the spurs from causing injury during the cock fight and their beaks (12d) are taped shut. A scoring apparatus (26) is provided that is responsive to the signal and includes a visual display that displays a numerical score for each gamecock. The numerical score is based, at least in part, on the number strikes detected by the sensor being struck over a predetermined time period during the cock fight.

  • Patent number: 6925666
Abstract: A bed base and bed base kit includes four side members, each being symmetrical about its longitudinal axis. The side members are assembled into a rectangular structure with the members positioned to stand vertically upright on their edges. Opposed side members are of the same length and are connected at adjacent ends by a two-component connector. A first component of the connector is attached to the opposed ends of each one of a first pair of opposing side members and a second component is attached to the opposed ends of each one a second pair of opposing side members. The second components are offset from the longitudinal axis of the one side member to which they re attached. Thus, when the side members are assembled to form the rectangular structure, the respective edges of the side members are substantially flush with each other.

  • Patent number: 6923765
Abstract: A device used to measure intraocular pressure within a patient's eye includes a probe typically having an end to which is attached a resilient member with a hollow interior that decreases in volume as the member is pressed against the eye. The greater the intraocular pressure within an eye, the more the volume decreases. A liquid moves in response to this change and this movement is detected to signal if the intraocular pressure is at a safe level.

  • Patent number: 6915178
Abstract: A dental prosthesis is made by first forming a model of a patient's dentition. A three dimensional digital data corresponding to the surfaces of the model is then created. Based on this data, a three dimensional digital data file is then created substantially corresponding to the dental prosthesis to be manufactured. The three dimensional digital data of the dental prosthesis to be manufactured is next transmitted to automated prototyping equipment, and using the automated prototyping equipment, a wax pattern of the dental prosthesis is manufactured based upon this three dimensional digital data of the dental prosthesis. Finally, using this wax pattern in the lost wax investment casting process, the dental prosthesis is made. Prior to investment casting, marginal edges of the wax pattern are adjusted manually.

  • Patent number: 6912936
Abstract: A holding tool is used to connect or disconnect a water pump pulley and a fan clutch. The water pump pulley is attached by a threaded shaft to a connector on the fan clutch, and the pulley has at least a pair of fasteners each with an exposed fastener head that extends from the pulley's surface which is next to the fan clutch. A head of the tool is inserted into a narrow space between the pulley's surface and the fan clutch. The tool head is narrow enough to fit into this space. This tool head includes a hook element at an end of a straight edge lever element. While grasping a fastener head of one fastener with the hook element and engaging a fastener head of another fastener with the straight edge lever element, a second tool is inserted into the narrow space to grasp the connector on the fan clutch. While both tools are engaged, one or both the tools are turned to disconnect or connect the threaded shaft of water pump pulley and the connector on a fan clutch.

  • Patent number: 6865758
Abstract: A bed base includes four side members oriented to stand upright on their lower edges. The side members are connected to form a rectangular support structure by corner connectors. Each corner connector comprises a top plate, a bottom plate, and a post. The plates overlap the upper and lower edges of the adjacent side members forming an individual corner. The post extends between the top plate and the bottom plate, pulling these plates towards each other to press the top and bottom plates firmly against the edges of the adjacent side members forming the corner.
