Abstract: Upon searching for a digital document of a document image, if information indicating a security level “vector conversion of objects is NG” is embedded in the document of interest, information of objects to be used in the search is deficient, thus disturbing satisfactory search processing. To solve this problem, a document image is read, and the read image is divided in accordance with the attributes of image regions. Designation of an image region whose image is to be vector-converted of the divided image regions is accepted, and additional information included in the designated image region is extracted. Search processing of a data file corresponding to the document image is controlled in accordance with the presence/absence of the additional information or the interpretation result of the additional information.
Abstract: This invention allows focus detection devices to be smoothly and quickly switched even if different image capturing frame counts or image capturing field counts are set in accordance with image capturing purposes. An AF system selection unit switches focus detection methods based on a direct distance measurement AF unit and captured signal AF detection unit in accordance with the frame count or field count of a captured signal.
Abstract: An assembly having fuel cell plate structure adapted for use in a fuel cell in which gas flow channels are arranged to carry process gas adjacent the active and wet seal areas of the fuel cell, the plate structure having one or more baffles arranged such that when the plate structure is in the fuel cell the baffles of the plate structure cause the process gas flowing adjacent the wet seal areas to be directed away from the wet seal areas and toward the active areas of the cell.

Abstract: Provided is a display technique whereby it is possible for an area, which an operator desires to zoom and display, to be zoomed and displayed in conformity with the size of the screen through a simple operation. This is achieved by an information processing apparatus capable of displaying any desired area, which has been designated in an image (801) displayed on a screen, upon enlarging the size of the area, the apparatus including: partitioning unit (step S1303) configured to partition the image into a plurality of areas based upon a given command; identifying unit (step S1304) configured to identify each area of the partitioned image; storage control unit (step S1304) configured to store results of the identification in storage means in association with the information concerning user operation; and pointer moving unit (step S1311) configured to successively move a pointer that is for designating each area.
Abstract: Provided is an optical device having image capturing means that converts an optical image of an object to an electric signal, and an optical element arranged before the image capturing means. In the optical device, an insulation member is arranged at a position facing the optical element in a way to be movable in a substantially entire area of a light entering surface of the optical element, and an electric control unit is provided for at least electrostatically charging or neutralizing the insulation member.
Abstract: An image sensor comprises a photoelectric conversion unit; a transfer transistor which has a gate electrode; a multilayer wiring structure which defines an aperture region above the photoelectric conversion unit; and a waveguide which guides light entering the aperture region to the light receiving surface, wherein the multilayer wiring structure includes a first wiring layer which is an uppermost wiring layer and defines two contour sides of the aperture region in a first direction, and a second wiring layer which is arranged between the gate electrode and the first wiring layer in a direction perpendicular to the light receiving surface, and defines two contour sides of the aperture region in a second direction, and wherein the gate electrode is arranged to overlap part of the light receiving surface and have a longitudinal direction along the first direction.
Abstract: In bitmapping an input rendering command to a bitmap, a logic operation designated by the rendering command is analyzed in accordance with the source and pattern as the logic operation target and a logic operation code. On the basis of the analysis result, an additional information operation corresponding to each pixel of the bitmap is created. On the basis of the additional information operation, additional information of each pixel is created. When image processing based on the additional information is executed for the bitmap, high-quality output image data can be created.
Abstract: A communication system makes throughput preferable by reducing wireless frame collision which occurs when a plurality of control stations cannot recognize one another. When a wireless communication device that is operating as a dependent station of a first control station detects a second control station, DEVice operates as a dependent control station. Accordingly, the second control station is changed to a dependent station or a dependent control station.
Abstract: Parameters relating to wireless communication in a wireless network system are set in a printer, which is to be wirelessly connected to the network system anew, from a personal computer that is already wirelessly connected, and the personal computer acquires identification information of the printer and transmits this identification information to an access point. The access point sets up the connection to the printer based upon the identification information that has been transmitted from the personal computer. This makes it possible to connect a new wireless communication apparatus to a wireless network system through a simple set-up operation.
Abstract: Provided is a system including a computer, a display device for performing display based on a signal from the computer, and an access point for performing communication between a wired network and a wireless network and disposed between the computer and the display device. In response to operation for turning ON the display device or to a power ON instruction from another client device, the access point is activated and sends an activation signal for activating the computer. Upon receiving the activation signal, the computer is activated and outputs a signal to the display device. Further, in response to operation for turning OFF the display device or to a power OFF instruction from another client device, the access point sends a power shutoff signal to the computer and shuts off its own power. Upon detecting the power shutoff signal, the computer performs a shutdown process. When the signal from the computer stops being received, the display device shuts off its own power.
Abstract: The horizontal and vertical projection histograms of an image to be processed are calculated. The autocorrelation values of the calculated horizontal and vertical projection histograms are calculated, and horizontal and vertical object sizes until the autocorrelation values decrease to predetermined thresholds are calculated. The aspect ratio estimate value of the circumscribed rectangle of an object serving as a comparison region candidate in the image to be processed is calculated on the basis of the calculation results. The comparison region candidate is corrected on the basis of the aspect ratio estimate value, determining a final comparison region.
