  • Patent number: 4563988
Abstract: An apparatus for determining the filling quantity of lubricating oils in drive installations comprising a timing member which activates a filling level pickup only after a predetermined time of several minutes following the shutoff of the drive installation, this pickup yielding an output signal only if two superimposed sensing elements transmit different responses. This provides a precise information regarding the actual quantity of lubricating oil. The output signal may be dependent upon an operating temperature cyclic filling may be effected at appropriate timed periods.

  • Patent number: 4562874
Abstract: A tire pressure control system having a pressure switch installed in a rim, which pressure switch, as part of a tuned circuit, damps, across an air gap, an HF transmitter, installed in a wheel web and having downstream analysis electronics, the pressure switch having a diaphragm pressure cell with a reference pressure, the diaphragm of which reference cell is subjected on one side to the reference pressure and on the other side to the tire pressure. A valve installed in the pressure switch makes it possible to adjust the reference pressure so that, when filling the tire, the desired tire pressure is simultaneously retained as the new reference pressure in the diaphragm pressure cell for the tire pressure control system.

  • Patent number: 4562816
Abstract: A fuel feed system of an internal combustion engine, in which for damping fuel oscillations which are excited by the closing of injection valves and which occur amplified in a predetermined rotational speed range, a damper is attached to the distributor pipe opposite to a regulator. The damper is of the same type of construction and size as the regulator and forms together with the same a resonator-antiresonator system, whereby the fuel column oscillates to and fro with low flow losses between the regulator and damper.

  • Patent number: 4563012
Abstract: A non-contacting sealing arrangement for sealing two counter-rotating shafts with the aid of a housing having a tire-casing-like shape which surrounds at least one centrifugal disk connected for rotation in unison with one rotatable shaft and laterally surrounded by the casing-like part with a narrow gap; the casing-like part is arranged eccentrically to the axis of the shaft on which the centrifugal disk is mounted in order to thus assure a return feed for the liquid sealing medium, such as oil, to bearing places. The invention enables alternate pressure loads and is particularly suited in applications between at least two bearing chambers of aircraft propulsion units.

  • Patent number: 4561387
Abstract: A liquid cooling system for a super-charged internal combustion engine in which the turbocharger is connected to the forced circulatory cooling system effective during the operation of the engine. In order to prevent an overheating of the turbocharger after the internal combustion engine is turned off, the turbocharger is equipped with a further cooling circulatory system maintained by thermo-syphoning action. A volume expansion tank present in the cooling circulatory system of the internal combustion engine is thereby used as heat exchanger for cooling off the cooling liquid, which is constructively matched for this particular application.

  • Patent number: 4561322
Abstract: A motor vehicle transmission which consists of a change-speed transmission and of an axle gear, is made usable by a special configuration and arrangement of the gear-shifting mechanism without modification for front engine and rear engine drive. For that purpose, the shifting rods disposed horizontally one above the other of the individual transmission speeds are operable by way of the shifting fingers of a vertically arranged shifting lever which is pivotally connected with the also horizontally disposed shifting shaft which is inserted into the change-speed transmission housing either at the bottom or at the top.

Abstract: A non-contacting seal between a rotating part to be sealed and a stationary part, in which the rotating part includes a coaxial disk which is surrounded by a stationary collecting channel axially closely adjoining the disk but without contacting it. The collecting channel forms a spirally shaped hollow space in the circumferential direction of the rotating part, with a sealing medium return line connected to the hollow space within the area of enlargement of the hollow space. A seal, however, may also be installed between the rotating part and the fixed part.

  • Patent number: 4560203
Abstract: For accommodating belt buckle parts coordinated to a motor vehicle back seat, recesses are provided in a foldable armrest and in particular in the side surfaces thereof. Each recess includes a bottom area constructed as a deflection surface so that when folding out the armrest, the belt buckle parts constructed as belt buckles are deflected laterally and thereby assume a readiness position, in which the coordinated belt buckle latch can be readily inserted. The belt buckle parts are pulled by means of elastic means in the direction toward the bottom area of the recesses so that when the armrest is folded back, the belt buckle parts are again automatically transferred into the recesses.

  • Patent number: 4559821
Abstract: A high pressure transducer, particularly for ballistic pressure measurements, with a sensor part, with a sealing part formed thereon and with a hollow mounting screw surrounding the sensor part with a clearance. The sensor part can be inserted together with the sealing part into a threaded mounting aperture in the component to be examined, whereby the sealing surface of the sealing part comes into sealing contact with a seating surface of the mounting aperture. The hollow mounting screw presses on the sealing part and produces the force necessary for sealing. The sealing surface of the sealing part is located somewhat ahead of a membrane portion while the sealing part is connected relatively elastically with the sensor part by means of a narrow web.

  • Patent number: 4557111
Abstract: A control system for the engagement and disengagement of exhaust gas turbochargers, in which the charging air pressure acts as control magnitude on a first control end face of a slide valve member against the force of a spring; in order to prevent the effects of the strong pressure fluctuation of the charging air pressure, which occur during engagement and disengagement of an exhaust gas turbocharger, on the shifting behavior of the control device, the slide valve member includes a second control end face, on which a second control pressure acts temporarily; the second control pressure and the first control pressure and the working medium for the control system may be formed by the charging air pressure so that no additional pressure sources are required; however, by the use of a spring biased valve the second control pressure may additionally be used for the filling limitation during starting and in the range of lower outputs of the piston driven internal combustion engine.
