  • Patent number: 4534457
Abstract: In a multi-disc clutch or brake, several lamellae in the form of annular discs cannot only be fixed essentially non-rotatably, relative to a lamella carrier fixed in terms of rotation in relation to one of the two clutch or brake parts, by means of a releasable positive connection but can also each be supported radially exclusively at an individual point on the lamella carrier, each by means of its own resilient clamping means, the clamping means being retained on the lamella carrier. At least one central annular gap located, in the peripheral direction of the axis of rotation, between two engaging teeth of the positive connection and open in the two directions of the axis of rotation is limited radially in one directions by a cylindrical shell portion of a lamella and in the other direction by a cylindrical shell portion of the lamella carrier. The engagement surface of the clamping means, used for the purpose of support, is located in the annular gap and interacts with the shell portion of the lamella.

  • Patent number: 4532786
Abstract: A method for the manufacture of a vehicle wheel from light metal with an asymmetric rim base, which is made from a plate or disk by rolling, pressing, cutting and aperture-forming steps. In order for the wheel to be formed in a simple manner without costly manufacturing steps, the edge of the disk or plate is angularly bent, according to the method of the present invention, prior to splitting and the subsequent forming of the rim base. This is necessary in order for the rim base to be formed with different lengths of legs having the same thickness.

  • Patent number: 4530148
Abstract: A tool changing mechanism for an automatic changing of tools for a press ram and die of a forming press such as a multistage metal forming press. The tool changing mechanism includes a magazine having holders for accommodating individual tools. The individual tools have different codings and the holders have electrical or electronic code reading devices associated therewith and connected to a comparator for comparing the codes measured or read by the code reading devices with the preset code means in the comparator. Upon a deviation of a measured code from the preset coding in the comparator, the comparator provides an indication of the deviation by transmitting an error signal so as to enable an avoiding of the occurrence or errors in the filling or charging of the magazine with tools. The code reading device may be constructed as series-type limit switches operating without contact and the codes on the respective tools may be fashioned as indentations or recesses provided in the tools.

  • Patent number: 4525782
Abstract: A process and apparatus for determining maintenance and servicing intervals on motor vehicles which makes it possible to carry out maintenance or servicing work as a function of the states of wear of the operating parameters to be maintained, wherein values corresponding to the particular states of wear of the operating parameters are fed to a computing unit, and by comparison with values filed in its store the computing unit displays a recommendation to carry out the maintenance work when an operating parameter has approached or reached the wear limit. The motor vehicle driver can thus see which driving behavior to adopt in order to achieve as long a maintenance interval as possible, so that he has an incentive to drive economically. Practice of the invention assures that parts are exchanged or renewed only when this is actually necessary.

  • Patent number: 4524465
Abstract: A safety helmet exhibits, in the zone of the longitudinal line of symmetry of its chin protector, an upwardly projecting rubber-elastic material air duct member comprising a sealing lip. This sealing lip extends past the contact area of the visor on the chin protector to such an extent that the chin protector is in contact with the visor when the visor is opened a crack. Thus, the air stream entering the interior of the helmet is conducted toward the lateral regions of the window and cannot affect the eyes of the helmet wearer. Since the air duct member is made of a rubber-elastic material, the visor can be closed entirely. Additionally, the air duct member is provided with two lateral parts and a continuous water-conducting groove which is arranged in these parts and in the air duct member. Water can collect in the groove and be drained off in the rearward and downward directions.

  • Patent number: 4523562
Abstract: In a method and apparatus for controlling the fuel metering for an internal combustion engine, an electrical displacement sensor is used for fuel injection pumps with an injection quantity control element, which is adjusted, via a control lever, proportionally to the electrical displacement sensor, whose displacement change causes an electrical signal proportional to this displacement change, this electrical signal being fed into an electronic control unit for readjusting the injection quantity control element. In order to avoid supply quantity scatter, control can be directed towards a calibration point situated on a supply quantity characteristic of the fuel injection pump, this calibration point preferably being located in the region of the maximum fuel supply quantity, and the output voltage of the electrical displacement sensor can be compared with a specified required value.
